Classroom Rules and Expectations

We have four simple rules which are posted in our classroom for all to see:

002

1.  We listen to others.

This includes: speaking in group situations (at the carpet or during seat discussions); when they are speaking individually amongst each other; listening to the teachers during teacher directed group activities; listening to the teachers when being spoken to individually; being quiet and listening during Music Listening time and other P.A. announcements; and other times as directed.

2. We use polite words.

This includes socially acceptable, positive language.  It excludes swearing, cursing, or using demeaning words when speaking with or about other students or staff members.

3.  We are kind to others.

This includes helping, thoughtful, and gentle behaviours.  It excludes behaviours meant to keep others from being included in activities or which would make others feel badly about themselves.

4.  We keep our hands and feet to ourselves.

This is intended to ensure that all members of the class (staff and students) are free from being physically touched in a manner that would be deemed harmful to themselves.  This includes (but is not restricted to): hitting, kicking, punching, and poking.

Thank you for working with the school in ensuring that these behaviours are understood, and practised, by your child.
