Information About Roy Litchtenstein
A key figure in the Pop Art movement and beyond, Roy Lichtenstein grounded his profoundly inventive career in imitation—beginning by borrowing images from comic books and advertisements in the early 1960s, and eventually encompassing those of everyday objects, artistic styles, and art history itself. His process included copying source images by hand, adjusting their composition to suit his narrative or formal aims, and then tracing the altered sketch onto the canvas, aided by a projector. In this rigorously manual process, he used perforated templates to replicate and often exaggerate the dot patterning commonly used in printing imagery. Known as Ben-Day-dots, this patterning became a signature element of his style, which incorporated the look of mechanical reproduction into the fine-art world of painting. His transformations of the source image typically included reducing the color palette to saturated primaries, eliminating incidental details, heightening contrasts, and “emphasizing the pictorial clichés and graphic codes of commercially printed imagery.

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
My name is Kristina Badley and I will be returning to Aubrey Elementary as a student teacher in your child’s classroom over the next couple months. Some of you may already know me from last year when I completed my short practicum in Ms. Smith’s class.
A little bit about me! I completed my Bachelor of General Science (BGS) in education with a triple minor in learning disabilities, curriculum and social justice this past spring. I have also recently completed my Graduate Diploma of Education (GDE) with my focus being classroom specialist.
My teaching journey began in the arts and over the years, I have been fortunate to be able to share my passion for dance and piano with countless youth of all ages through my community involvement with various private piano and dance studios. I greatly cherish all the relationships I have been able to build and look forward to the many more I will be sure to build! Besides teaching, some things I enjoy are spending time with my family (and my two furry friends!), baking, climbing and trying different hot chocolate flavours!
I look forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks as I begin my final classroom experience with Ms. Smith!

Division 5 students along with their little buddies from Division 11 harvested our spuds in tubs this week. Today we roasted the 247 warba potatoes and students brought in their own toppings to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Division 5 has created a “Walk or Bike to School Challenge” to encourage people to be more physically active and reduce traffic pollution around our school.
We encourage you all to Walk or Bike to school if possible. Our goal is to have 90% of our students walk or bike to school on May 30th and May 31st.
