It is with great pleasure to announce Gianna was chosen and awarded one of the four JAL Foundation Grand Prizes in Canada in this years 16th World Children’s Haiku Contest for 2019-2020. Gianna’s submission has now been sent to Japan to be considered by their Haiku judges.  Selected haikus will be posted on JAL Foundation’s website and featured in their inflight entertainment programming on Boeing 787 international Japan Airlines’ flights. Her writing will also be published in the contest’s anthology “Haiku by World Children Vol. 16” early next year. Well done Gianna!

Students attending in person from Division 4 and 12 harvested the potatoes we started growing before Spring Break  this years harvest yielded 259 potatoes  Well done everyone!

Thank you for all you help and support throughout the year especially during Term 3 as you helped your children transition to remote learning.  I truly appreciate everything you do and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you and your children this year.

June 1st marked the beginning of Indigenous Peoples Month  and Indigenous Peoples Day will be observed and celebrated on June 21st.  Listen and/or read along to this selection of stories and books to learn about Indigenous traditions, culture, and history.

“SOCIAL MEDIA AWARENESS, DIGITAL FOOTPRINTS & CYBER-BULLYING IN THE AGE OF COVID-19”

This 60 minute student presentation, brought to you by the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Safer Schools Together, will focus on lessons and content most applicable to today’s new world of online remote learning. This presentation will cover all things digital, from digital citizenship to fake news and to the growing anxiety of the unknown with the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the most prominent concerns currently surrounding a student’s use of social networking sites and smartphones will be discussed including suggestions for reporting worrisome behaviours.
