Last year during the federal election, I had close to no interest in the elections because I hoped that Trudeau would remain president. This year my interest in the election was about the same, but now for a different reason. I have had more than enough with Trudeau and his lies. One example of this is how he promised a more “transparent” government, but what we got is the exact opposite of that, as retrieving vital information about the Canadian government and its branches like the RCMP has gotten considerably more difficult than before. (Not like I would know.) And if that’s not bad enough, Trudeau spent more than $215,000 for a vacation to the Bahamas, which was all made possible by Canadian taxpayers. Now if that’s not bad enough, then I don’t know what is. Anyways, back to the point. My thoughts on the election were that it was rigged. He’s been prime minister of Canada since 2015 and has been elected 5 times in a row. At this rate, he’ll surpass Mackenzie King with how long he’s been leader.

If I were to vote for any candidate in my riding, I would have chosen Kelsey Shein. She is in the Conservative party.

There are 6 main reasons as to why I like the Conservative party over the rest. The first reason is Immigration. This opens up opportunities for individuals like myself to find a home in Canada. What they are doing is allowing people who are waiting for their application to be reviewed to pay a fee for faster processing. Revenue collected from those fees would go to hiring more staff to process applications.

Reason number 2 is that a Conservative government would screen ALL people arriving at border entry points, regardless of vaccination status. They also promise to make at-home rapid tests available.

The 3rd reason why we should vote for the Conservatives is that they would implement a ban on conversion therapy. A government of such type would also not support legislation to control or make rules about abortion.

4th reason is that if they were to get elected, they promise to hire 200 RCMP officers in the greater Toronto area and the lower mainland (British Columbia) to combat gangs and prevent the smuggling of guns, drugs, and other illegal substances. This is important because of the “gang wars” that were happening a few months ago. Hopefully, this can help prevent that from happening again.

My 5th reason is (in my opinion) a lot more important because the Conservative government would provide $100,000,000 ($100 million) for police training related to sexual exploitation, cyber-security, online offences, and investigating of sexual offences. You may wonder exactly why I think this is so important. As time goes on, we use the internet more and more, and at the moment it’s just kind of a wild west at this moment. I’m not promoting internet censorship, we definitely don’t need any more of that, but I am saying that police should monitor the internet just a bit more.

Lastly, my final reason for why the Conservative party is superior to the rest is how they are going to protect the environment. They would ban the export of plastic to other countries so that all of our trash stays here where it can be recycled and reused. They would also invest an additional $3,000,000,000 ($3 billion) towards developing natural climate solutions like forest management; crop and grazing lands; and the restoration of grasslands, wetlands, forests, etc. between now and 2030. This is also very important because Canada recently ranked with some of the most polluted air in the world standing at 179 US AQI or a rank of “Unhealthy.” Within BC, several cities have higher AQI’s than Vancouver such as Lumby’s with 432 and Vernon with 401. Hopefully, the Conservatives can solve this problem.

My response to some Canadians thinking it was unnecessary to call an early election is yes, I agree. I believe that Trudeau did this to make it easier for him to win by showing that he IS INDEED doing things about the pandemic, and get more people on his side. But yes, I do agree that it was not needed. As if there wasn’t already enough drama and things to talk about on the news. But that’s not even the worst part. The worst part is that I was still on vacation and neither of my parents could vote. So here I am now, ticked (child friendly) that no one in my family got to vote.

I think that the election was a bad idea because nothing really changed. I don’t think it was necessary to spend so much money for the voting, than for the benefit of Metro Vancouver. It wasn’t very safe to do voting during Covid-19. As far as I know, Justin Trudeau wanted to have the vote be held as soon as possible, which doesn’t make really make sense.
If I was able to vote, I would have voted for NDP. When I read some responses (from the link that Mattias posted (thank you ) https://pollenize.org/en/elections/canada-2021) from different parties, I noticed that the NDP had a lot of details, and that they replied to every one of the sections, unlike some other parties. I think that NDP is a very social party, like Jagmeet Singh showed in some of his speeches.
I like NDP because they promised, that if they are elected, they would do protect 30% of Canada’s land, and water. Create 500 000 new affordable housing units within 10 years, half of which will be ready within 5 years. Put in place Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. And that they would recommit to global peace, and make sure that it stays that way. They also promised that they would work through the problem of people being asylum seekers. NDP said that they would also develop a national strategy to pay for costs of important medicines needed to cure rare diseases.
I think that having a vote during Covid-19 wasn’t necessary. But if you look at it from another angle, a lot of people had avoided having Covid for a long time. But if we all avoid it, we will never get the immune system that we need to fight Covid naturally. Some people are very scared of having Covid, and being unsafe. But if we never lift Covid precautions, our bodies won’t ever be able to fight Covid. So, I think that we have to all get the immune system we need, then we will be over Covid.

I think that the elections were a waste of time because there was not much change in the when it
come to seat and votes. I think that they should not have had the elections during Covid because it
looks like many people did not vote. I think that results may have differed if we were post pandemic.

If I could vote I would have voted for the Green Party, Annimee Paul because she was really
inspiring to me that women can also run for elections. She said something very true in her speeech.
She said that she felt like Justin Trudeau was not treating women fairly and pushing them away and
    I think thats true.

If the Green Party was elected then she would create a better relationship with the First Nations and
get rid of many things such as green house gas emissions. She would encourage more diversity.
Less green house emissions could result in the slowing down of global warming. If she was elected
she would take care of nature and hold orgisations and people responsible and accountable. She
would have worked with the First Nations people instead of just giving them some land and
isolating them. She would make sure they were included and had a say in decisions purely
because they got their land taken. She would immediately enforce the 94 calls to action from the
Truth and Reconcialition Commission. I am sure she will apologise and try to make new memories
instead of remember the old ones. She would have made things more affordable and the
government would pay for essentials like food and housing for the homeless . She would provide
houses for the First Nations and given some of thwm dont. If she won she would have ended the
safe third country agreement, as well as change the history books and mke sure that the First
Nations were included and it was the true story about Turtle Island and the harm in residential
    schools.

I think that the election in Covid was very unnessary because firsly there was not even that much
change and secondly many people were scared of Covid. I think they did not want a new Prime
Minister because Justin Trudeau because he had managed the pandemic fairly well. I guess they felt
more safe to stay with the same prime minister in case a new prime minister changes the current
situation . Elections should have been delayed as there have been increased number of covid cases.
As some of you may be aware the current election only yielded an additional 2 seats for the liberal
party and i question if this was necessary given the current state of the country. In conclustion it is
my opinion the election was wasteful and poorly timed given the current covid status in Canada, if
the best interest of the people were being considered they would have found and alternative.

  3. radwin1 says:

I think that Justin Trudeau shouldn`t have called another election . Because the election cost allot of money about $ 610 million dollars. Also because if everyone showed up Covid -19 would spread faster. In my opinion the government could have used the money for different purposes such as using the money for charity or other positive thing.

  4. brandon38 says:

This year the elections to me seemed like a huge waste of money and time, with the added struggles of the pandemic, voting seems like a major inconvenience because going in-person to vote has the risk of being exposed to corona-virus , and mailing in your votes would be to much of a hassle and a waste of time for just one vote. On another note, the election this year didn’t impact the amount of seats in the House of Commons, with the parties running for the title of Prime Minister only gaining and losing a very minimal amount of seats. Continuing on that idea, I personally believe that nit many people were not as interested in voting as they were last election, because this year, whoever is Prime Minister is more or less irrelevant in many communities and is sure to spark chaos and drama all over the internet.

If I were to vote for anybody in my riding (Burnaby South) I would vote for Jagmeet Singh, seeing as he is the most popular of the votes in my riding, and also because I agree with many of his beliefs. One of the many beliefs and one of the reasons I would give my vote to him is that he wants to make life more affordable for everyday people, right now everything that you see in stores and in the aisles is very expensive, Jagmeet Singh would like to stop skyrocketing prices and make life a little bit easier. The next reason I would give my vote to Jagmeet Singh is that he wants to strive towards better job pay for everybody, ever since the pandemic, job pay has become an even more sensitive topic, and significantly lower, making it hard to have a sustainable and reliable method of pay. On top of that Jagmeet Singh would like to make childcare more affordable and easily accessible to people, meaning that people can feel relaxed knowing that their children are in good hands, he would also like to stop racism towards people of different races, and be treated equally and fairly no matter what their beliefs and cultures are.

This year many people believe that the elections were unnecessary during a literal pandemic. I (with my own opinions) strongly believe that they were also unnecessary, many people are still not very comfortable being out in public since the pandemic is still happening. One response that many people agreed with in the CBC poles on whether or not we should have had an election during the public was sent by CEO of Ipsos Public Affairs Darrel Bricker, in his words “It’s a significant number of Canadians that simply don’t think that this was the right time to have the campaign. They’re not happy with the fact that we’re doing it during the course of the pandemic.” Now I am at the conclusion of my little rant of beliefs, so I would like to thank the reader for taking the time to read over my rant.

If I was 18 or older and I could vote I would have voted for Justin Trudeau . The reason is because Justin Trudeau was prime minister for a long time and I think its safe to say that he never made mistakes that put others in danger. And also he has politics blood because his father was a prime minister .And his grand father was a Federal cabinet in 1950s . His grand fathers name is Jimmy Sinclair .

  6. radwin1 says:

I like this party because the liberal government helps the world allot one thing the liberal government does is reduce 50% of child care fees . And it works with different countries and provinces to reduce tax rates . Also the liberal government reduces student loans so more students can study and parents can worry less about not being able not having there child go to school. The liberal government reduces up to 50% of green house gas emission by 2030 so the planet will be more cleaner and greener so we could live in a healthy eco system. Also the liberal government gives 2.3 billion dollars to provinces so hospitals could hire more nurses and ect. And the liberal government would build monuments so we wont forget the people who couldn`t survive residential schools. So this is the reason I like the liberal government and I think it will be a big help to people in need or people who are barely surviving.

  7. radwin1 says:

I think Justin Trudeau shouldn`t have called a election in the middle of a pandemic because it was a time that people should have been away from others so we could limit the spread of Covid-19 so the world would have a future but if someone calls an election that goes against everything that would help the world to have a future. Because if allot of people show up to vote someone could have Covid-19 and we wouldn`t know and they might spread Corona to us and we will spread Corona to other causing everyone there have corona leaving everybody to have a high chance of death. Also most of the hospitals are busy so most people wouldn`t even get treated. I think that its not fair to have everyone take a big risk just for an election. So this is why I think that Justin Trudeau shouldn`t have called a election in the middle of a pandemic.

  8. kristie2 says:

    1. It was okay, better than last year because there were many protests about COVID. A lot of people mailed their votes because they were too scared to go to the election. Some people went to vote and about 5 million people mailed their votes.
    2. I would vote for Brea Huang Sami because she’s in the liberal party. I think the liberal party is the best party because of how nice the people in the liberal party are.
    3. In healthcare, the liberal party would hire about 7,500 family doctors, nurses, and nurse practitioners by sending $3.2 billion to every province and territory.
For indigenous relations, the liberal party would honor the indigenous children by building a national monument in Ottawa. For the economy, they want to discourage people and other countries from avoiding paying taxes by partnering with other countries to implement a global minimum tax rate. In Transportation and Transit, they claim to commit to developing high-frequency rail. For the environment, the liberal party would create 10 new marine conservation along with 10 new national parks. For the protection of the Canada-wide childcare system, they would hire 40,000 more early childhood educators and enact in federal laws.
    4. Yes, I think it’s necessary to call an election during the pandemic. This is because it is important to have a new government by voting for it. We can ensure safety at polling by wearing masks, sanitizing stations, and maintaining social distancing. Another option can be voting through the mail. People’s fears are justified but if everything is conducted well it will be very easy and it could work very well.

  9. monica8 says:

There wasn’t anything done for the election. It was fun to watch but it didn’t make any difference. There were surprising elements like when Annamie Paul didn’t win a seat and had to step down. From this election, for coming elections the parties will have a better experience. If I were a party leader, I would take this election to improve on what we needed to get others to vote for us.

From all the parties in my riding. I would vote for NDP candidate Jagmeet Singh.

Aside from things the NDP would do for our country is also how their leader Jagmeet Singh is as a person. Often, I see him on social media, this is a smart way of promoting himself. A lot of the time I see him, he is taking part in trends. He smiles and talks to more of those who are younger.

I like how the NDP would continue the federal price on carbon. Since fossil fuels release carbon dioxide, it causes global warming. Apart of my future, I don’t want to live in a place full of greenhouse gases. I want a better future. I want to encourage others to use a more environmentally friendly alternative.

In Healthcare, everyone needs a primary care doctor. They help build on your health history. Some of my family members have a chance of getting diabetes, meaning I would have a chance too. Without a health history, my family wouldn’t know.

Resettling LGBTQIA+ members are important. There are many countries that still have been LGBTQ2+ as a crime. There are 10 countries that have the penalty as death. When escaping the country, you want to find an asylum. It is important that Canada works to resettle those in need.

Another important reason is justice and society. Immediately passing laws to ban conversion therapy. Also putting money to shelters for transgender youth. Conversion therapy has led young teenagers to depression and self-destructive behaviour. Working to make gender-affirming surgery and medication-free and accessible is a big step.

Education and training are important skills in kids and young teenagers. Moving post-secondary education into the public K-12 education system is important. A lot of public schools are free. Students attending post-secondary school often pay for it themselves. Meaning they would have to also buy textbooks and supplies by themselves. Cancelling the repayment of up to $20,000 can be a tremendous help to those who are in student debt.

One that stood out was calling out China for abusing human rights. As well as protecting Hong Kong’s pro-democracy asylum seekers. Some of my family are living in Hong Kong. In the climax of protests, it becomes unsafe for my grandparents to travel outside. They are unable to travel to us because of age and need more aid. As well as contributing more to The Global Fund. As in many countries, they don’t have the resources to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

This election gives me mixed feelings. There wasn’t a shocking change and I found it disappointing. Including that there is a new variant it prevents people from feeling safe to vote. This election isn’t as unnecessary either. It gave the party leaders an opportunity to learn even more. Since a lot of people have learned from this election, it gives a chance for the next election to change. Even though it helps with experience, they used the people paying tax to organize this event. It wasted a lot of money that should have been for other reasons. Such as COVID-19 vaccines and safety guidelines.

  10. damian4 says:

My thoughts about the Liberals are good. They are a good political party for the past 5 years. They have a good prime minister however, prime minister Trudeau made it legal to have or smoke marijuana. This made me not like the Liberals as much anymore. This is bad for our prime minister. Things like this would not be a good idea and not that great for the reputation of our current prime minister. This can lead to disagreements, fights, and other things that can be harmful to others. Justin Trudeau could have said he can make it legal to smoke but illegal to sell to others, so we won’t have to worry about the bad things that can happen. Things like marijuana are just bad. It is not difference from cocaine and other drugs that is illegal to use.

I would have voted for Jagmeet Singh because he made good causes for the riding. I would have voted for someone else if he did not do all those things for our riding. I would vote for him if I was old enough and since I am not, I can’t do it. Things he had done was amazing. Other leaders do great things too like making this place a better place to live in. Most people just do whatever they like.

I like the Liberals because the party made great changes but however some of them were not all that good for example making marijuana legal. They gave refugees from Afghanistan homes and tried to save them all. Cananda also has free healthcare thankfully unlike most other countries. The government even tried to make the environment clean and stop overhunting and fishing. This party has even reduced childcare fee by 50% so there for taking care of a child would be cheaper. They even tried to bring back the culture of indigenous people and the language. The government even invested 6 billion dollars for the healthcare.

I think they had to stay away from the area because safety first you never know whether you are going to get sick or not. I strongly agree with them because anything can happen you know it’s like gambling but you don’t want to. In my opinion it’s not a good idea even if you want to your health and safety comes first. If the pandemic wasn’t here maybe my opinion would be different. Overall it’s just not a good idea in my opinion.

  11. april7 says:

To be completely honest, I have no big opinion on the election, as I tend to stay away from politics since they don’t affect me as much, but I think that the election was quite unnecessary, and they might as well have thrown 600mil out the window. To further prove my point, each candidate barely gained any seats, and the votes didn’t differ too much. I don’t understand why Trudeau thought it was a good idea to have another election even though it’s only been three years, and elections usually happen every four years. Especially in a pandemic where there’s a deadly virus going around. So, to finish this paragraph, I think it was very irresponsible and ignorant of them to have another election this year.

As I am a small twelve-year-old, I obviously don’t have the right to vote yet, but if I did, out of all the candidates in my riding, I would pick Jagmeet Singh. What’s my reasoning behind this you ask? Well, realistically, I based this off purely what my test results (from doing the CBC test) told me, and information I scoured from random websites on the internet. Yes, definitely not the most reliable sources, but as someone who’s oblivious to politics, there’s only so much I can do. Other than these reasons, there are some actual factors behind my choice.

My first reason is because they promise to try to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% from 2005 levels by 2030. As someone who loves the environment and nature, protecting it obviously holds a lot of significance to me. In addition, since I don’t see any reason to leave Canada in the future, I want to protect the nature and wildlife that hails from this land.

My second reason is also similar to my first. NDP stated that they would preserve and protect 30% of Canada’s land, freshwater, and oceans by 2030, and again, as a person who grew up surrounded by nature, and loves it, protecting it is very important to me. Especially with all the pollution and garbage that has intruded on our world in the last years.

As a queer kid, having the right to express myself and be myself is important, and another reason why I would vote for NDP is because they declared to immediately ban conversion therapy if they were elected. Conversion therapy is essentially a tame term for saying “we will go to any cost to change you to be ‘normal’.” It is extremely harmful towards people of the LGBTQ+ community, and people who enter conversion therapy are so much more likely to end their own lives, and engage in harmful substances, so it is very important to demolish it.

This reason is also connected to my last point, but I would vote for NDP since they assured us that if elected, they would provide money towards transgender youth. As a supporter of the trans community, it’s really significant to me that they have enough income and support to survive, as they face a lot of discrimination daily.

In addition, the NDP have also said that they will work towards global peace, and again, this is something that holds a lot of importance to me. Having world peace. The world is a really split and violent place, and I think that making an effort to reduce violence is something that we should really be paying more attention to.

Lastly, the NDP have promised that they would partner with Indigenous people to support and increase Indigenous rights by having the United Nation Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and each of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. Indigenous peoples have faced decades of unfair discrimination, and prejudice, and something really needs to be done about it. Their voices have stayed silent too long, and I really support the idea of giving Indigenous communities the justice they have deserved for years.

As mentioned in the very first paragraph, I agree with the point that the election was unneeded, and very life-threatening. The whole election was pretty worthless, and the votes and seats gained barely changed. The money that was put into the election could’ve been used for so many other purposes too. For example, helping the front-line workers, Covid patients, Indigenous peoples, developing more powerful vaccines and making them accessible to all ages, and the list goes on. Why they decided that having another election during the fourth wave of a pandemic is beyond me.

So, in conclusion, my opinion on this year’s election is that it was honestly so useless. It was very irresponsible of them to have it during the time when a virus is going around. To add on, the 600 million deposited into the election could have been used for much greater and important causes. While my opinions and thoughts on politics and government still remain quite limited, I do think that Trudeau could’ve been a lot more responsible and smarter with his decisions.

  12. andrew48 says:

To me the elections seem like a waste of time and money. I think it could also be uncomfortable to some people since they must stand in line for a long time and many if not all the people there are afraid of catching the coronavirus. Many are mailing in votes even now so the mailed in votes are very time consuming so then it would take much longer to count.
If I were to vote for a candidate in my riding I most likely would vote for Peter Julian (NDP). That is because I agree with the things that his party thinks of for the future of Canada such as that they want to make life affordable for everyday people since many things you see in stores nowadays are skyrocketing in price compared too before.
I like this party because it is said that if an NDP government is elected, then they would help small businesses to help pay rent and employees and to help reopen small businesses after the pandemic. They would also provide funding for projects that are low carbon transit and things like electricity transits. They would also remove interest on all federal student loans and cancel up to $20,000 in repayment. They also plan to set a target to reduce green house emission by at least 50% from 2005 levels by 2030 as well as to set an office to keep charge of looking out for independent oversight of climate change. If the NDP wins then they would protect 30% of Canadas land, freshwaters, and oceans by 2030, would start a 10 year program to bring back animals that are dying out and extend indigenous guardian programs. A NDP government would work with the provinces to put in place permanent country wide access to paid sick leave. An employer would pay their employees full days pay when on sick leave and the government would then pay them back the cost.
I think that this election is completely unnecessary during this pandemics fourth wave when they should be making a vaccine for children 11 and under. I think that it’s a waste of money since it cost them roughly 610 million dollars that can instead be spent on the production of more vaccines and to produce vaccines for 11 year old and under. This is a bad time to hold an election since the pandemic is still not yet over and it could be very dangerous to many people since they are standing in line outside to wait to vote. Also, it is as if they are taking a risk for not very good reasons since they are all at risk so its like a gamble that nothing will happen to them while waiting in line or to get sick with covid. So that’s why I think that this election during a pandemic is unnecessary.

  13. hana20 says:

I didn’t know and wasn’t interested in politics a while ago but I heard about it and I saw the debate I learned a lot.

I would have voted for Rozina Jaffer / Liberal party. Because Justin Turdeau’s government helped many Canadians in their bad economic situations during the pandemic.

The party is promising 50% reduction of childcare fee. They will work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40-45% below 2005 levels by 2030. government will put 6 minion dollars to help the healthcare system, such as hiring doctors, and nurses. The housing affordability is a huge problem in Canada, especially here in lower mainland. The Liberal government promise to create a system that allow people to rent a house. The government will ban conversion therapy. And they also plan to spend 40 million dollars to help LGBTQ2 society. Government will eliminate interest on the federal portion of Canada student.

I think it was a bad idea, because people should be staying at home and staying safe. But he called an election in the middle of the pandemic. Which I think is a bad idea to do.

  14. luisa4 says:

In my opinion, this election was a waste of time. Almost nothing has changed, so I think it was unnecessary to have an election right now. Plus, it was a huge waste of money. I mean, $600,000,000 for such a small change?? That’s insane!

Drifting a bit from my point, if I was able to vote, I would have voted for Jagmeet Singh, of the NDP. I support his opinions and ideas, and I believe that he would make a great Prime Minister, and here are six reasons why.

Firstly, the NDP government would contribute to world peace by promoting nuclear disarmament and ensuring Canadian-made weapons wouldn’t be used in any foreign conflicts, like wars or battles. I think promoting world peace is very important, and it’s one little step further into making the world a peaceful place.

My second reason for supporting the NDP is that they would immediately ban conversion therapy in Canada and put money towards shelters for transgender youth that need them. It might not seem like a big issue to some, but it is. A survey conducted by the American Academy of Pediatrics revealed alarming results regarding transgender teens who attempted suicide. More than half of transgender male teens attempted suicide at least once in their lifetime according to the survey. It is an issue, and it is big, so for that reason, I support NDP’s actions regarding LGBTQ+ people’s safety.

Thirdly, if the NDP were elected, the party would work with the provinces to improve access to healthcare. There is no denying the importance of healthcare right now, particularly with COVID-19. Also, the government would work with the provinces to grant every worker paid sick leave – something I think is important since in most cases, it’s not the person’s fault they got sick, so it seems unfair not to pay them for something they (usually) cannot control.

Next, I support the NDP’s actions regarding the environment. If they were elected, the government would protect Canadians’ right to a healthy and clean environment and would protect 30% of Canada’s land, freshwater, and oceans by 2030. I think the environment is a very significant matter, and I believe those actions would be essential for Canada’s development.

My next reason for supporting the NDP and believing they’d make a great government for Canada is that they’re concerned about childcare. By collaborating with the provinces, they would implement a $10-per-day childcare system that would be available to all. Many parents work during the day to provide for their families, but they can’t take care of their children, so I believe that this is an important matter, and it would help a lot of families out there.

Finally, 2021 was a very sad year regarding Indigenous Peoples and the residential schools. As you all know, 215 bodies of Indigenous children were found buried under a residential school in Kamloops this May. It’s truly a devastating discovery. As the country works toward reconciliation, the NDP government will support Indigenous rights by partnering with them and making sure they are given the rights they deserve.

Let’s talk a little more about the election. Most Canadians agree that having an election during the pandemic was unnecessary. People were feeling that it was risky to get out of their houses, stand in line with a bunch of people around them just to vote. As we can see from the results, it was a huge waste of time and people exposed themselves for nothing. That’s why I truly believe it was unsafe and unnecessary to hold an election during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Honestly, this election was super unnecessary. This was a snap election or a political gamble. Why you may (or may not) ask? Well first, this election was in the middle of a pandemic. You may think “Well it isn’t so bad right?” Well, hate to break it to you but it was not so easy in other parts of Canada. Because of the pandemic lots of places had really long lines. The wait was from 30 minutes, 1:30 minutes, 2 hours and even up to around 3 hours just to vote! But, a lot of people still go to vote because in some places, you can’t even vote. Trudeau called this election for his own good. He thought this would be the best time to get more liberal seats during a freaking pandemic. He also could have saved thousands more refugees from Afghanistan. But, he chose to go ahead and think about himself first and not others. I also want to quickly add. If you did not already hear, on Thursday September 30th(National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) Trudeau was spending time with his family on a vacation on Tofino. What makes matters worse, his plane flew right over Kamloops where he was sent two very heartfelt invitations to join Residential school survivors to honor those who did not make it out of those Residential schools. Plus with all this money spent, we could have used this money for anything else really. The elections Canada had to buy over 16 million golf sized pencils and just over 3,650,000 larger sized pencils for accessibility requirements. In total they spent over $430,000. And keep in mind that these pencils are only used once and then thrown away because of covid of that added to more money wasted. With 6 million dollars could have been used to fulfill the promises that Trudeau said he would do 4 years ago and still has not. He said that he would stop long-term boil water advisory for small Indigenous communities.

I think that I would probably vote for the NDP leader Jagmeet Singh because I obviously support lots of what they say and the plans they have for the future.

One thing that pops out to me is that they said that they would pay “Child care workers a living wage.” So you might be thinking, what is the difference between a living wage and a minimum wage? Well it really explains it in the name but essentially a living wage is a wage that looks at what earners need to support their family whereas, a minimum wage is the legal minimum that they earn per hour (right now, British Columbia’s minimum wage is $15.20). This is important to me because my mom works as a child care worker so this would be a huge help to me and my family.

Something that I really support from is that the NDPs would “Immediately pass laws to ban conversion therapy.” If you dont know what conversion therapy is, they basically try to make people part of the LGBTQIA+ community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex and Asexual or Aromantic) Straight as in no longer part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I really think that everyone should be who they are and no one should try to change their identity and who they are as a person.

Jagmeet Singh said that they would set a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% from 2005 levels by 2030. This has a huge impact in society today especially because of the high levels of fossil fuels and pollution. They are also aiming to get to net zero soon. Net zero is basically the amount of greenhouse gas that is removed is equivalent to the amount of greenhouse gases removed. This again will be super important to society.

“The NDP government would protect 30% of Canada’s land, freshwater, and oceans by 2030; would start a 10-year plan to bring back species that are dying out.” This is really important because as you may have learned, if too many species die out it could (and will) cause a chain reaction on all animals including us (humans) or, in other words we are all dead if this does happen. Also, protecting 30% of Canada’s land, freshwater, and oceans by 2030 is also just as important because not only are we protecting the land and water but we are protecting the species that call the land, freshwater and oceans their home.

The NDP would also work to make sure that all Canadian-made weapons are not used in foreign conflicts or human rights abuses. This is very important to everyone because we want to stop this violence and I believe that this is one step so that our weapons are only used for good and not harming anyone. This also makes sure that weapons are not used to harm people in other parts of the world.

The NDP government would work in partnership with Indigenous peoples to support Indigenous rights by putting in place the United Nation Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and each of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. The Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action is This is one more step into recognising the hardships and difficulty they had to go through in Residential schools. This is also another step into Reconciliation. They would also make sure that all laws include and are fair to the Indigenous community. They will also work with Indigenous people to create a National Action Plan for Reconciliation.

    (the right one)

My thoughts on the election were a bit disappointing because the election was basically the same and we spend 600 million and that was all for nothing this was the only the thought on election that was a big no no cause we could of spent 600 million on lots big needs in Canada and that’s just bit disappointed. If I was around the voting age and to vote for candidates I would vote for the liberals because the ways there running its just a nice and good way to run Canada and they have not done anything bad . I like liberals . Child care The government would reduce child care fees by 50%. Reason #2 A liberal government would create a 100 million fund to increase and commercialize technology to re-use and recycle plastic. My third reason Canada would increase the time line for re-payment of the loan borrowers who are single until they make at least $50,000 each year. My 5th reason is that the liberal government would also invest in $500,000,000 million dollars! to add 50k new electric vehicle chargers and hydrogen stations, plus a 100 million to install public chargers in buildings. Reason #6 A liberal government invested 1 billion over 5 years of work with governments and indigenous partners to make a national school’s food policy, if they get elected they will soon make national school’s, healthy meal programs for kids. I think the election was a little unnecessary because it’s kinda risky voting while tons of people gather around each other during a pandemic and we all know plenty of people tend to not follow all covid rules especially kids who are younger that can’t get COVID shots but can still get this virus.

I don’t have much thoughts on the election for this year because me and my family didn’t participate. But I think that the conservator had the ideal idea for the childcare, healthcare, education, immigration and the indigenous Relation. Even that I think that the Liberal have a better idea for the housing and affordable.

If I could vote for someone I would for Jagmeet because they would help kids in need by giving, they $10 dollars a day. They would also make 50 000 houses and it would be more affordable to others. They would also make surgeries and treatments more affordable to others.

Me and my family really enjoy the idea of the childcare because it help families with kids that can not afford any food, entertainment or books. I also really enjoy the idea of the environment because it helps to reserve indigenous land and culture.I really enjoy the idea of the transport and transition because the government is going to double the amount of public transport so we can social distance from others. I also enjoyed the ideas of the economic because they help small businesses and they can reopen the stores.I also enjoyed the idea of the energy and climate change because they are going to try reduce 50% of the greenhouse gas emissions. I really enjoyed the idea of the healthcare because they are going to try to dentist clinic be free.

So I think that the election were not the best one because they could had made it online so we don’t have any risk to get COVID-19. I also think that they could many just do bit more safe to other persons when they are going to vote. I really think that some people exaggerated on this topic because they were to scared to go vote with COVID-19. But I think it was a great idea after all. I also really enjoyed going vote with my mom friend so I think it was worth it.

My thoughts on the election are the same as always, I never really have interest in voting especially this year, Trudeau basically called an election so he could get elected again and unfortunately he did but this year the pandemic hit us and it was extremely hard to manage meetups, party’s, etc.. but having an election just didn’t make sense to me, less people voted this year because of Covid. Not only that but it was a waste of time and money, adding on going in person when Covid is still happening. In some ways I didn’t want him to get elected because in all honesty I don’t think he is a very good president. He hasn’t really helped the community that much at all, he hasn’t done anything about climate change like what’s up with that? But remember this is just my opinion so please don’t get mad.

During the pandemic there was only one party that stood up for people, the one party leader who has the courage to make the wealthy share money with others so everyone gets the medication they need. Meet Jagmeet Singh, not only has he helped everyone around him and made the community better he also supports pride and that is a huge thing for someone running as a leader in the party. He has been taxing the super rich so we can invest in people, creating thousands of jobs that fight the climate crisis, building homes that we can actually afford and covering our health care needs. So if I was old enough to vote I would give it to him.

The NPD would introduce legislation for public childcare and would work with the everyone to create a 10 dollar a day system. I think this is a great thing because i have cousins in child day care and its also helping everyone out! The NPD would work with the provinces to put a national Pharmacare plan for everyone with a $10 billion/year investment from the federal government, they would also help out with rare diseases and pay for the aftercare. This would be great for my family and not only my family, for example my aunt has cancer so that would really help us out. The NPD would help out with small business and keep it running, not only that but they would keep it up till they can keep themselves running after the pandemic. They would pay all the new/unpaid so the companies stray up and running. For the healthcare part of it the NPD would create a program and recruit more doctors and nurses to help with Covid.

I will agree with them on this, it was completely unnecessary and it just doesn’t make any sense at all. Why would you say to not get together during the pandemic and then hold an election? Doesn’t it just increase the Covid cases more, adding on not having a mask on. To some people this made sense I don’t know why but its your choice so go ahead, just remember the Covid and all that stuff. Some people I just don’t get.

1.I am not really interested in the election especially this year because of the pandemic but my thoughts on the election is that why did we have to participate the election because of the pandemic and why do people who were prime ministers go for prime minister again?? If they go for prime minister again they can win the election so much times and the other people who runs for prime ministers cant win the election. my other thoughts about the election is why we call the parties parties?? Why can’t we say like group??

    2. I would vote for the liberal or NDP because there is a website that has very good news in it and liberal and the NDP, but I really don’t like the other ones. If I choose a favourite I would go for liberal because I was believing them and because the liberals got elected once so I have more truth on liberal.

3.the first reason that I chose the liberals because they have a very good child health and childcare system and I think they care about children’s a lot. Second because the liberals give teachers taxes refund up to 250$ based on buying a 1000$ dollar supplies. Third the liberals would work to reduce green house gas emissions. fourth liberals will create 10 new marine conservation areas 10 new national parks and would work with other indigene communities to agree how to manage these areas together. Fifth the liberals will make a monument for the children who died in the residential schools. Lastly the liberals will make 50000 more electric vehicle chargers.

4.i think about this very serious because of the pandemic the prime ministers need to be very smart because we don’t know what is going to effect and the government must make sure to make the virous not to spread not that much. I am also confused because we did the election in the pandemic, so it makes me confused.

    1. Personally I am not exactly happy with the timing, result, and cost of the 2021 election. The election that happened two years before the planned date has not happened during an appropriate time. With many people struggling through the fourth wave, an election is the last thing they want to think about. The result of the election was not exactly how Canadian citizens expected. And for the cost, it was not necessary to spend so much money that could have gone toward other things.

    2. I am in the Burnaby South district. I am a supporter of the NDP party.

    3. Immigration wise, I support the NDP because they are willing to open the country to more asylum seekers and support 2SLGBTQQIAP+ communities. I find that very important because I am the type of person who hopes that my country can be the country to except people for who they are and open their hands to outsiders looking for a peaceful place to leave. I really support the promises the NDP party made in justice and society wise. Like I said earlier I want people to open up to others that might be different and just except that the people in our world today aren’t all the same. I also like what they promised about the force police can use. It has be a big problem in 2021. The environmental promises that the party talk about is fair, not some random promise. I would like the government to improve in the amount of work they are doing to stop climate change. I hope to have a better future.

    4. I find it unnecessary to have an election during COVID because I think it isn’t wise to swatch leaders during the situation we are in right now. I think if Trudeau was really considering about what will happen to Canada during the pandemic, it would lead the country through the process instead of randomly holding an election. Infact, if you look at the money spent on the elect, which was C$612 million, just to have very little change in the government. Just looking at the money spent makes me question the current election. Especially during the fourth wave of COVID 19. I think they could have used the time and money in the government to help the country recover from the current worldwide events.
