Subsidized Lunch Program
Dear Families,
We have many new families who have joined our wonderful community and I want to ensure everyone is aware of Brentwood Park’s Subsidized Lunch Program. This is the information directly from our school website:
Subsidized Accounts – Please access the special registration link by CLICKING HERE to sign up for a Lunch Lady Subsidized Account. Subsidized accounts are intended to support families who are experiencing food security challenges and financial hardships. We ask that you notify us if your financial circumstances change.(We promise to respect your privacy. Subsidy information will only be shared with the principal, school secretary, and The Lunch Lady as required) There is no cost for the meal, but you will be asked at the end to VERIFY your order.
Learning Support
Dear Families,
Learning Support begins this week for some of our students, but we are still waiting for several permission forms. I will send you an email for email permission if we do not have your signed form. Thank you so much!
Warmly,
Ms. Bianca Lavorata
September!
In September, we focused on building stronger work habits and classroom routines. We review expectations daily—like staying quiet during independent work, listening carefully during lessons, showing respect inside and outside the classroom, using class time wisely, and improving transitions. Students are developing their organizational skills, getting materials ready for each subject, and using their agendas to track important dates. Our daily community circles and social-emotional learning check-ins have supported growth in social responsibility, and I’m proud to see noticeable progress—way to go!
In writing, we’ve been working on forming proper sentences and are now focusing on adding more detail. All writing is kept in our visual writing journals, which students personalized with meaningful decorations on the front and back covers.
In Social Studies, we learned about Terry Fox and his mission, and began discussing residential schools through the novel My Name is Seepeetza, which shares real experiences of life in a residential school. At the start of October, we launched our term project on global issues, where students are researching a topic of interest, exploring causes and current/past solutions, and coming up with their own ideas for positive change.
Welcome to Division 6’s online platform!
We are looking forward to a great year together in Division 6!
