We created snow people out of snowflakes! We had so much fun designing our own snow people and snowflake designs.
For math, we finished our geometry unit! To integrate art into our math unit, we engaged in a fun math tessellation art project. A tessellation is a pattern made up of shapes that fit together perfectly without any gaps or overlaps. For example, honeycombs are a tessellation because the hexagons fit together perfectly, covering the whole surface without any space between them. Each one of us designed a Christmas tree. Then we combined the trees together to create one big Christmas tree. It is so fascinating to see how the trees fit together because of tessellation, creating a beautiful, seamless design!
We created Northern Lights-inspired artwork using chalk pastels! First, we drew mountains with white chalk pastels. Then, we used blue, purple, and green chalk pastels to draw S-shaped lines above them. Finally, we smudged the lines with our fingers to create a beautiful Northern Lights effect. This activity was so much fun, and we loved learning about the Northern Lights and the stunning landscapes they create!
