The children of Division 10 have been learning all about bats.  Bats are unique . . . they are the only mammal that flies.  They are also nocturnal, sleep upside down and use echolocation to locate objects in the dark.  We learned to write a simple, informative report that classifies facts and information about bats into categories.

Ask your child to read his/her report to you.

Ocean Silhouettes

The children created these beautiful ocean silhouettes.  First, they used chalk pastels to do the background.  They used different colours to simulate the sun shining on the top of the water and getting progressively darker toward the bottom. Then, they traced the shapes of different ocean animals on black paper and cut them out. Please notice their careful cutting skills.

The children also used the loose parts to make an ocean scape.  Then, they wrote about their scene. Ask your child to describe his/her picture.

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” – Buddy The Elf

The elves of Division 12 have been hard at work celebrating the festive season.  They were absolutely adorable in the Christmas concert . . . singing “Christmas is a time . . falala” and playing their instruments!

They also participated in Festive Sweater Day, Twin Day, The Pancake Breakfast and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

May your family have a holiday season that is full of wonderful surprises, treats and nonstop laughter.
