Updated Assessment Approach-A Note to Parents

Dear Division 4 Families,

On Friday April 17th I posted a note about assessment and how the plan was for families to email me once a week with a photo of something their child was proud of and something that their child felt they could have changed or would like to practice more. After that blog post was published, I received more information about the assessment approach for online learning and was notified that every activity/assignment that students complete must be sent back to the teacher. I am more than happy to do this, however I am thinking that if you wish, you could email me once a week still with photos of all work (or if you prefer, you can email me each day with a photo of the completed assignment). Whatever works best for you! I will do my best to provide feedback or comments as often as I can, however please note that it may take time to receive feedback due to the nature of online learning and emails back and forth (my apologies in advance!). I will do my best to provide timely feedback, and will also continue to be available for information, clarification, etc. during the regular school days hours each day. To the families that already provided emails for last week that included photos of their child’s work, thank you! Going forward, please submit all assignments completed by your child.

I will continue to do weekly check-ins. I have heard from most families, but am waiting for a couple. If you have not received a weekly check in email (sent last week), please contact me in the event that there was an error in the contact information I have on file for you. I will continue to email families once a week for check-ins (at the minimum) for the purposes of “attendance” and to ensure that students and families are supported with this online learning experience!

Thank you for your support and for bearing with me as we all try to navigate this new world of education together! I apologize, again for any confusion regarding the assessment approach. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you,

Ms. Chin
