02/09/22 – Science – Bones and our Skeletal System
02/08/22 – ELA Writing – CHAIRS ON STRIKE
Oh no! Our chairs have gone on strike! Our chairs have decided to go on strike because of the following reasons:
- You are growing quickly and are getting quite heavy!
- Conditions are dirty and unsanitary.
- Physically exhausted and not treated with respect.
Read what they wrote below!
Here are some reasons to…
- Get our chairs back / things we will do differently.
- Have our chairs stay on strike forever / not want them back.
We are focusing on the first paragraph only today: the introduction. Create your own introduction paragraph (and brainstorm your 3 reasons) to either…
- Persuade the chairs to come back
- Tell the chairs that you no longer need them
02/08/22 – Math – Comparing and Ordering Fractions 2
We continued ordering and comparing fractions, this time with different numerators and denominators.
02/07/22 – Math – Comparing and Ordering Fractions
Today we visualized fractions and used visuals to help us determine which fractions are larger, equal, and smaller.
Please continue to use drawings to help you determine the order of fractions. We learned that:
- If the numerators are the same, then the smaller the denominator, the larger the fraction is. See sample below.
- Even though the denominator of one third (3) is smaller than the other denominator (4), it is bigger than the other fraction because it is split into fewer parts.
Here’s what we worked on today:
02/03/22 – Math – Equivalent Fractions Continued.
We continued practicing our ability to find equivalent fractions today. See yesterday’s post HERE.
02/02/22 – French Verbal Conversations
We will be meeting in pairs to speak in French, trying our best NOT TO USE OUR NOTES. We were given 3 x 45 minute classes to prepare.
Most groups DO NOT KNOW THEIR PARTNERS, therefore it is important to practice for both roles.
Here’s the script in English.
- To prepare best, prepare for either role.
02/02/22 – Math – Equivalent Fractions
We began working on equivalent fractions today. Equivalent fractions are the same amount, cut/divided into more / fewer shapes.
01/02/22 – ELA Writing – Persuasive / Opinion Writing Structure
Today we learned about the structure of persuasive writing. It is a 5 paragraph essay that begins with an introduction paragraph, 3 body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph.
Notice the different colours used in our “hamburger” graphic organizer.
- Red ‘easy to take care of’ is a preview for the 1st body paragraph
- Green ‘they have incredible instincts’ is a preview for the 2nd body paragraph
- Blue ‘they are independent’ is a preview for the 3rd paragraph
Your job tonight is to post your introduction sentence! It should be no longer than one single sentence. Your goal is to communicate to readers what the rest of this essay is going to be about. Keep it simple and make it interesting so that I want to continue reading it!
Here are 2 example of what you might post is:
- Cats are unique pets that will make your life better!
- A cat is the best four-legged companion that you need in your life!
02/01/2022 – Math – Final Fractions of a Set Practice
Super important to be familiar with this before we move onto more complicated fractions (equivalent fractions) that uses multiplication, division, and all our knowledge about fractions.
