P1110145 R ~ We spent some time in the beautiful, sunny afternoon out on Nelson’s front lawn. After finding the perfect spot to REST & RELAX, we shared books with our friends. We got a great surprise when Miss Tsakalos’ class came out to READ with us. Thanks for sharing your books Kindergartens!!

P is for PUZZLE & Q is for QUILT

P ~ We worked together on PUZZLES throughout the day.

Q ~ We also worked on memory squares, drawing a picture of our favourite memory of the school year. Miss Watt will put them together in a QUILT to hang up in her classroom.

We started our day with a LOLLIPOP as we entered the school & then…

K ~ KERNELS of popcorn
…finished off the day enjoying some freshly popped popcorn as Kiana read to us from Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator!

I is for ICKY & J is for JUMPY SCIENCE!

I ~ ICKY messy fun with Oobleck! Science with cornstarch & water!
Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid. That is, it acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands.
Oobleck gets its name from the Dr. Seuss book Bartholomew and the Oobleck where a gooey green substance, Oobleck, fell from the sky and wreaked havoc in the kingdom.

J ~ JUMPY Poppin Rockets! Science with baking soda & vinegar!
We created a chemical reaction in a film canister! The vinegar reacts with the baking soda and produces carbon dioxide gas. Pressure builds up until the small canister can no longer contain the gas. The lid pops off, the canister shoots up into the air, the gas escapes, and the pressure is released.

Nelson’s Book Swap is Back!

Bring in your gently-used children’s books to school from June 3rd – 13th.
Story books, novels/chapter books, & non-fiction are all accepted.
Donate as many books as you like & all students will get a new book or two for summer reading!

G is for GAMES & H is for HAT

G ~ 2 days full of GAMES! We celebrated yesterday with the run through of Primary Sports Day. We learned 7 new GAMES as we went through all the stations.
H ~ We were lucky to have an amazing sunny day today for Sports Day, so we wore our HATS to protect us from the hot rays of the sun.

I had so much fun seeing everyone come through my Noodle Javelin station & I hope you all had fun participating in all the stations & competing in the tug-of-wars too! Congratulations to GREEN HOUSE on their big Sports Day win!

F is for FREEZIES & FREE TIME

F ~ It was one HOT day in Burnaby!! What else do you do, but head outside for some FREE TIME in the sun & cool down with some refreshing FREEZIES! We enjoyed blue raspberry, cherry, grape & everyone’s favourite, cream soda!
