Nelson’s Book Swap is Back!
Bring in your gently-used children’s books to school from June 6th – 21st.
Story books, novels/chapter books, & non-fiction are all accepted.
Donate as many books as you like & all students will get a new book or two for summer reading!

The answer is 17 Sports Day stations. 
16 stations are in action on Sports Day. Sean makes a station that is really fun. How many stations in all? ~ Daniel
There are 16 people getting ready to do the Sports Day stations & Casandra was late. How many people getting ready for Sports Day stations now? ~ Cayla
20 people were playing in a station. Zack said to 3 people, Let’s go play video games. Then 2 more people came to go to a station. I said, “Come to my house. Lets have a party.” What is the sum? ~ Cameron
There are 20 Sports Day stations. Then Cayla got an idea & made 1 more Sports Day station. Then Julia said, “There has to be a doughnut Sports Day station!” So she made one! Then Chloe said, “I’m tired” so she got rid of 2 & 1 more that was the doughnut one. Julia got mad so mad that she threw doughnuts at Chloe & then Chloe fell into doughnut lalaland. So then Sahana said no one is coming to my station so she closed her station. Then Cayla said, “I want a macaroon” so she closed her station & left for her macaroon. How many Sports Day stations still there? ~ Casandra
There were 10 people doing sports. 2 minutes later Sahana bakes macaroons for everybody. 2 people go get some. Then Sahana joins Sports Day! Then Chloe makes 3 more people join. Then Chloe & Mrs. MurMurMur join. Then Julia gets 2 people to go buy her doughnuts! Then they come back. Then 3 people leave. Then Cayla joined & stays for 2 mins then leaves to buy a cat then comes right back! Then Casandra drags 4 people to Sports Day. Then Vera joins! Then Casandra wins 1st place! & celebrates with throwing a doughnut in Chloe’s face then goes to Doughnutland. How many people in Sports Day? ~ Chloe

G ~ 2 days full of GAMES! We celebrated with the run through of Primary Sports Day on Thursday, learning 7 new GAMES as we went through all the stations, & then on Friday we had our annual SPORTS DAY!!
I had so much fun at the scorekeepers table with Miss Gatenby & I hope you all had fun participating in all the stations & competing in the tug-of-wars too! Congratulations to BLUE HOUSE on their big Sports Day win!

E ~ Jujubes, M&Ms, Jelly Beans, Mike&Ikes… Count the Candies!!
We spent the morning using referents & good ‘ol fashioned thoughtful guesses to ESTIMATE how many candies were in the jars.
After all the Guessing Jar estimates had been counted, the winners were announced in the afternoon. Drumroll please………
Lincoln, Benson, Shathu & Cayla had the closest estimates with Lincoln making a perfect estimate!!
Well done to all Division 8 students for their excellent estimates! Can’t wait to enjoy the candies at another Alphabet Countdown day very soon…

Nelson students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 participated in our annual Speed Demons competition last Friday afternoon. Division 8 had lots of fun racing against other grade 3s & all did an awesome job! Click on the runner below to see everyone fly!

D ~ DINOSAUR books, drawing books, matching games, pattern blocks, posters, toys & more! We spent the day learning lots about dinosaurs, doing different dino activities in the morning & then learning more about dinosaurs from Bill Nye the Science Guy in the afternoon.

For 2 weeks, Me to We members will be collecting coins as our final 2015/16 fundraiser towards providing clean water to people in need in Ecuador.
Students will be visiting classrooms every morning to collect!
Please dig into your piggy banks to help us meet our year goal of $800.00 for Ecuador.

There were 89 students in the red house meeting. 1 was late. How many in all? ~ Mia
There are 10 students & Nicholas takes 80, but 5 do not come. So, Sukhuman gets 5. How many in all? ~ Lincoln
There are 130 people in red house. Mrs. Mur Mur Mur made 5 people get out! Then Chloe made 5 people go buy her macaroons for her sale. Then Julia made 10 people go buy her doughnuts. Then Casandra gets ANGRY & complains there are too many people! Then Casandra makes 15 people leave then falls into lala land. la la la la la Then 5 people leave to go to a party! Then they came back! Then 5 more people had dance then left. Then the people shopping for macaroons come back! Then Mrs. James stays for 1 minute then leaves to feed Squishy. How many people at the meeting? ~ Chloe
There are 70 people. 30 people come but then 10 people went to the washroom. When they came back they remembered they were in blue house & gold house. How many people were not in blue or gold house? ~ Cayla
70 students in red house & 10 of blue house students leave & 10 of green house leave to join red. Chloe said What are you doing? Come back! Everyone said No. How many in red house? ~ Sahana
110 people going to the Red House meeting. Then Chloe said, “I’m hungry” & went to get a macaroon. Then 5 more people said, “I want a macaroon too” so they left! Then Julia said, “Why go to this meeting when we can go for a doughnut instead?” Then 5 people said Great idea! So they left then Cayla decided to have a Spelling Bee then 10 people said I want to go & 1 of them was Sahana & she won. How many people still going to the house meeting? ~ Casandra
