A Time to Sing

Hello Singing Music Students,

It has been a long time since we have been able to sing together. Today I thought I would post some singing activities for you to enjoy!

First, let’s sing about “Why We Sing”. Primaries know this song from Primary Days of Music and can sing along. Intermediates can join in by reading the sheet music and lyrics.

Next, here is an old favourite we know called “A Pizza Hut“. A perfect song to sing while you order Skip the Dishes. 😀

Next, have some fun with these melody exercises and games. Primaries click here. Intermediates click here.

Lastly, did you know our Parkcrest student teacher Mr. Stoffberg has been a private voice teacher for the past 15 years?! As part of his practicum, Mr. Stoffberg will be teaching you some singing techniques and exercises. He is also going to be doing an exciting virtual singing project with the Gr. 6/7’s.  Below is a special message from Mr. Stoffberg:

Hi Parkcrest Music Students!
For those of you who don’t recognize me or remember me, I am Mr. Stoffberg. I am a student teacher from UBC working with Ms. Lloyd and Ms. Rudolph in Div.1 (and a little with Mr. Grundy in Div.2). I hope you’re enjoying your online learning so far. I wanted to share a couple of songs with you today, to introduce myself. Outside of learning to be a school teacher, I have been a private voice teacher and performer for the past 15 years. I will be putting together some voice exercise videos next week for you to try out. We will also explore our voices and try out some vocal arrangements of songs you may know and love! For today, I would like to share two songs with you. One was written by the Beatles, called “In My Life” and the second is a virtual choir song, called “Healing Light,” that I was a part of with the Vancouver Cantata Singers. I hope you enjoy listening to them. I’m looking forward to sharing some music together!
~Mr. Stoffberg
