Caterpillars, Planner Cover Contest and notices

Good afternoon families,

Our caterpillars got too hot in our classroom over the long weekend. Just to give you the heads up… we chatted about uncontrollable things that could happen to them in the environment as well (example: being eaten by other insects or their chrysalis being knocked down by the wind or another animal). We had a great discussion about this today and our surviving caterpillars have been moved into our neighbouring / less hot environment (Ms. Santi’s Classroom Room 6). We will be continuing to learn about them and will be able to visit them with families during student led conferences next week.

Planner Design Contest!

It’s that time of year again! Attached is the design contest. If you are interested please let me know and I will photocopy the design sheet for you to take home.

If you have not submitted the forms for the earthquake drill, field trip or student leds please send them back to school as soon as you can.

Thank you,

Ms. Toor

Special Book Project

Good afternoon families,

Our class has been working on book making this term for our writing focus. We have been creating books in the classroom, working together with our buddy class who are illustrating our stories using a program called “book creator” and now we are onto our big project for the term.

Our book is called “If You Give Division 12 Exploration Time” and we will be working on it the next couple weeks during classroom time before Spring Break. Each student gets two pages (writing/ image) to add to our collective book.

You have a chance to order a good copy of the book published by Student Treasures Publishing. It will be published and look like a book you can buy from a store which is very exciting!

New update!

Good afternoon families!

Thank you families who connected with me over email or in person today after school! We are almost there!

We now have spaces for 14 students and looking for 6 more spots in cars (I am also driving two students in boosters).

As I do not check my email after hours I will see if we have any more parents willing to drive there and back in the morning when I arrive at Suncrest.  I will need to make a decision by 12pm tomorrow afternoon if we are going on Friday or will have to cancel.

*Families who are driving please fill out forms and Volunteer Driver Authorization forms as soon as possible. If you need one, please email me and I will send one home in your child’s planner.

*If the field trip is cancelled, Ms. Boleak will be able to refund all families who have already paid.

**If the trip is on, I will be sending out another form with information on boosters seats either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thank you for everything!

Ms. Toor
