House Teams

Ms. Kashima has put every student a Suncrest into teams this year. Each family is also on the same team.

Spirit Day- Thursday October 22nd

Wear your house team colour to earn a point for your House Team Colour.

Scholastic Code:

Our Scholastic Class Code is: RC130056. There are many books to purchase for your home to continue developing a love for reading or to begin building reading into your daily routine as a family. I will put the order in on Friday October 23rd at 2pm.

Pumpkin Patch

Time to be announced. Please have your child bring a bag with their division and name on it for Tuesday October 27th.

Picture Re-takes: Wednesday October 28

Please email me if your child is taking a picture re-take. If you were away on picture day I will send your child down when it is our turn. At this moment we do not have the time.

Halloween

Stay tuned for more details on the time of our Halloween Parade. Hoping I will get more information at tomorrow’s staff meeting.

On Friday October 30th students are welcome to bring a treat or goody bag to share with the class to celebrate halloween. This is optional but if you do decide to bring something please ensure there is enough for 18 students.

If you would like to bring a snack for the group to eat, please ensure it is individually wrapped (peanut, all tree nuts and gelatin free) as we do have students with allergies and sensitivities to those foods mentioned above in our class.

Words Their Way Spelling:

This week we began our phonic spelling program called “Words their way.” We have students working in various groups focusing on initial letter sounds, letter blends (digraphs), vowels, vowel blends (dipthongs). Each week your child will bring home an envelop of cards to practice. They are yours to keep after we spend the week focusing on certain cards. Words their way is a great program that supports students phonemic awareness for writing and spelling. A notice will be coming home Thursday that shares many ways to engage in the program.

I will also be sending home sight words to practice at home. These words are memorized as they are not words we can sound out to read or spell.
