Mr. Browne’s Oct. Precept

The precept is: “Your deeds are your monuments.” I think the precept means that your deeds are what will stand out. Your deeds are what people will remember you for. Your deeds are not made of stone, but they are still monuments. Monuments might be defined as statues, or special structures. Your deeds are still monuments, but in a different way. In a different way, monuments might be defined as something people remember. That’s where the deeds and monuments thing comes in. People remember your deeds.

Some people won’t remember the bad things people do. We remember the main thing, the deed. Here is an example: Terry Fox. No one exactly remembers the streets he ran in or every person he has met. But, we remember he fought for cancer. This is what I think this precept means.

October Precept

Your deeds are your monuments.

I think that means what you do will kind of stick on you like memories. and what you do will be remembered by everyone and people will think that’s the type of person you are depending on what you do or say and anything you do and in the book we are reading the main character august does alot of brave things and people remember him for that.

And also his friend jack did looks of things he is remembered by. Like he was friends with august. At first it was because Mr. Tushman asked him to be friends with august. But then later on it was proved that jack enjoyed being friends with august and its really boring without him. and alot of people thought that was cool of him.

Mr. Browne’s October precept

What I think Mr. Browne’s October precept “Your deeds are your monuments” means that whatever you do will be remembered by other people, and even after you die, you will be remembered for the big things that you have done in life on your monument (Or grave, Whichever you prefer). For example, Terry Fox had tried to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research, and even though he didn’t run the full way and had to stop halfway because his cancer had reached his lungs, he still raised a lot of money for cancer research, and even after he had passed away, people still remembered him for what he had done, in fact, there are even statues commemorating him and his deed. Basically, what I think this precept means, is that you will be remembered for the big things that you had done in life, even the small things, but you probably wont get remembered as much as you would for doing something big.
