Christmas Fun!

Mixed Me In A Bag The students worked very hard to choose items that best represent various aspects of their interests, their lives, their experiences and their familiesThey practiced what they would say and how they would share their items.  Students worked on speaking loudly and clearly and had to fully explain the significance of each item to their life. We displayed the items for others to see and then students were welcome to ask questions, share comments and make connections to the items.

What If You Were Trapped in A Snowglobe? Students created ornaments of themselves stuck in a snowglobe!  We added glitter snow and other decorations.  Some students were really excited to truly demonstrate how their body positions would look if they were actually stuck in a snowglobe. What would YOU do?

COOKIES!  As a fun addition to Christmas activities, the students learned to roll out cookie dough and were able to use a cookie cutter to cut out a shape and then decorate it. And after baking the cookies, they had the best part……eating the cookie!  Some students chose to take them home and I believe one or two students were even giving their cookie to someone as a gift! I hope they were tasty!

Pancake Breakfast with a Special GuestWe met with our Grade One Buddies and shared a lovely pancake breakfast together!  We ate and ate and ate!  It was delicious!  Then we were visited by Santa and the students were definitely excited to see him!  He even knew Luna!

A beautiful gown we created after using the plastic bag as a painting shirt! LOL!

Marshmallow Catapult Challenge- Students worked in small groups to try and create a catapult that would launch a small  pompom. Students were able to use elastics, marshmallows, bamboo skewers and a spoon.  These were very successful and the students were very good at using positive, constructive language and encouragement for each other!

COMMUNITY SUPPORT- The students learned how not everybody has the opportunity to see family and friends over the holidays, which can make that time of year lonely for some, especially seniors living in Care Homes. The students each created an ornament and a card that were delivered to Seton Villa Retirement Community and the staff were overwhelmed with joy thinking of how these items would truly raise someone’s spirits!
