Music Happiness Playlist

I will upload your class’ individual playlist in your Team.

I’ll get us started with my Happy Song, which I’ve included in all the playlists.

This song is called “December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)”, and it is by a group called the Four Seasons. This song came out in 1975, and was considered an “oldie” when I heard it. The first time I heard this song I was at Helen’s Grill, which is a diner style restaurant, kind of a 60’s theme, with little juke boxes at the end of each table. Maybe you don’t know what a juke box is? They are music players that you would put a quarter in and they would play songs for you. There were little books you could flip through by using a toggle on top of the machine – very cool, check them out if you have a chance. Anyway, of course juke boxes are a thing of the past so to see one is very rare. I was out to breakfast with my boyfriend, and we were fairly newly met at the time. He put  a quarter in and played this song for me, and I have loved it ever since! It certainly takes me back to those days, but there is also something so joyful about this song that I can’t quite put my finger on. I really love the vocalist, and always sing along with him especially the two lines ” late December 1963″, and “you know I didn’t even know her name”. Something about the melody here really gets to me.  Actually, I like to sing along with the whole song! When we are having one of those Friday nights where we take turns playing each other favourite songs on youtube and dancing in the living room, this is always on my playlist, sometimes even twice! There is also a French version of this song called  “Cette année-là“. I hope you enjoy it, and enjoyed sharing my memory 🙂
