We have almost finished reading White Jade Tiger by Julie Lawson. Write me a letter on the blog telling me what you thought about this story.  Were there messages you think the author thought were important? What did you find interesting, surprising or  even shocking. What was your favourite part and why?   I look forward to  reading your letters.

I so far enjoy listening to White Jade Tiger. In my opinion the book is very tense, with all the action and drama that happens. It is shocking in the beginning when her mother dies because of a car accident, and her father leaves to China for a year (Jasmines father is a teacher), and leaves lonely Jasmine with her Aunt Valve in Victoria. I find interesting that Jasmine (the main character) can go back in time by walking through a never ending store in China Town to visit Kueng who is working on the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railroad). My favourite part so far is when the Jasmine dreams about Tiger slippers and then “Boom” she gets them!!! Dashiavoo In conclusion I very much enjoy White Jade Tiger!

You can always borrow the book and finish it on your own. I have a few extra copies.

I loved reading ” White Jade Tiger ” although I feel sorry for Blue Scar Wong (when he got run over by a train). I hope Julie Lawson makes a second volume because this was utterly amazing! Maybe I’ll be a writer too. Julie Lawson has an cool imagination!

I’m glad you liked the story. Where do you think she got her ideas from for this story?

  3. blake01-44 says:

So far the book is really good, it is very suspensful and you never know what will happen next.

I find that this story is very interesting. But the story has just got so much better. Now, Jasmine is going to China? This book is so amazing! I too hope Julie Lawson makes another book.

    1. daniel01-44 says:

She should write about what happens when Jasmin goes to china.

  5. maneesha01-44 says:

I agree with Blake, I am also stunned by what happens in the story. I wonder if jasmine will be able to go back to Keung’s time?

  6. izabelle01-44 says:

I thought the book was fun to read because I like the part when jasmine went back in time to see kueng again.

    Dear Mrs. Cramb,
The book White Jade Tiger is a very interesting book because Jasmine (the main character) can travel back into the past and present. It is also sad because Keung’s father, Chen Sang Lin died in chapter 18. Then Keung buried his father and had a funeral for him. In a tunnel Jasmine could see a silver object shining in the dark and guess who it was, it was Blue Scar Wong with a knife! But I won’t tell you the rest you will have to read the book to find out.

I found it shocking when B.S.W. got run over by a train but a bunch of my friends and I kept playing “what- if” with the chance of someone getting run over… Well we all know the rest! As other kids said before, I hope Julie makes a sequel!

I really enjoyed listening to White Jade Tiger, I think the book is interesting and I even told my brothers to read it. The book just keeps on getting better and better. The only trouble I have with this book is that it is very confusing to listen to, but I’m sure it’s just because I’m not the person reading it. I really hope Julie Lawson somehow turns White Jade Tiger into a series, filling in all the missing holes of the story.

I think the book was good. It wouldn’t be my favorite book though. I feel bad for Keung because his dad went missing for years and after a few minutes he found him, he died. I think it was interesting how Jasmin could go back in time. I think Keung is Jasmin’s great great grandfather. Do you think Keung is Jasmin’s great great grandfather? I would rate it a 6/10 because sometimes it would get very confusing. I hope Julie Lawson writes a sequel for this book.

  12. kai01-44 says:

I wonder if Julie Lawson made ANY other books.

    1. izabelle01-44 says:

      Same here.

  13. spencer01-44 says:

I really enjoyed the book White Jade Tiger because it is very eventful and ther is quite a bit of suspense to keep people wondering what might happen next. My favourite part does happen to be when Blue Scar Wong gets run over by a steam train. Thanks for reading the great book!

  14. benjamin01-44 says:

White jade tiger was awesome!! (especially when blue scar wong got run over by the train.) Is there any other books that you can read us?
And Jasmine got her wish to go to china came true!
If Julie Lawson makes a sequel, can you read it to us?
Also think about the title of the ( optional ) sequel .
    From Benjamin

    1. crambl says:

      Hi Benjamin,
I’m glad you liked the book! Julie Lawson published this book in 1993 so I don’t think she will be writing a sequel, but who knows! I do plan to read you another book that talks about a child who had to deal with racism. I hope you like it.
      from Mrs. Cramb

  15. manvir01-44 says:

I feel the same about a squeal. She left the book hanging with Jasmine going to China. She left it with suspense and a whole lot of questions. My favorite part is when Blue Scar Wong (the bad guy) gets run over by a train it is historical!!!!!!!!!

  16. Arika Lee says:

I believe Julie Lawson created this book to prove how much rasicm happen in the earlier years in a suspenseful interesting way!!!
