a) Pa Salieu is a rising rapper from the UK. He was born in Slough but soon moved to Gambia with his parents. He spent his early childhood there and when he was 8, moved back to London with his mother. His auntie was a folk singer, who he says heavily inspired his musical career.
b) Salieu started taking music more seriously in 2017 and in 2018 he attended a local youth club where he started producing some of his own music. In 2020 Pa released a mixtape named ‘Send Them To Coventry’. On it he collaborated with other big UK artists such as slowthai and M1llionz, which helped him gain lots of recognition. However, it was his hit ‘Frontline’ that made him really blow up.
c) Signed by Warner records. On his website he uses ‘songkick’ to promote his shows and tours.
d) I think his career will last a long time, his songs are blowing up and now he is making music with other artists like SL, BackRoad Gee and Aitch. Pa is making a sustainable amount of money from his music. Furthermore, in early 2021 he performed ‘Frontline’ on Jimmy Fallon, showing how he is gaining fame not just from the UK but from other countries too. Furthermore, ‘Frontline’ was the #1 most played song on multiple radios such as BBC 1Xtra and Rinse FM.
e) I think his entrance is repeatable, however I think his rise was more based on luck. On the other hand, his unique voice and musical style makes him really stand out from the crowd.
syudou is a Japanese Vocaloid producer, composer, singer who came to fame in 2019 with the single “Bitter Choco Decoration ”. From January 2021, he started a radio talk show on youtube, through which he shared his history and personal views. From time to time, he invites guests to the show. Influenced by his family, syudou has cultivated a love for music. He formed a band with friends during his high school years but it was dismissed. During his university years, he kept writing music and sending samples to recording companies but they were never accepted. After he graduated, he started working full time while continuing to write music. He became a full time musician in 2020 when he became famous through youtube.

Longevity:
Artists like syudou work for themselves and enjoy freedom from contracts and corporate activities. He can maintain his popularity as long as there are viewers and fans who support him. He also composes for other singers. Such collaborations can create a synergistic relationship.
Repeatable:
syudou’s success is not from pure luck. It is, on the other hand, a clear proof of his creative talents and hard work. His earlier failures with recording companies were a result of marketing and corporate interests. Going on a platform like youtube has provided him a chance to bypass the commercialization of music to reach his target audience. This example of success is certainly repeatable for any talented and persevering artist.

With a follow up with pt2 “Most Beautiful Moment In Life pt2.” And “Nevermind” another solo track he wrote which talks more about his teenage years. The song was then realsed on November 15th, 2015. On august 15 2016, Suga release his own solo album on SoundCloud and Spotify the album was called AGUST D. The song also debuted at 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 which gave Suga his second entry on the chart, as a solo artist.
Overall Summary:
Even though Suga grew up in a rough and poor environment growing up as a kid, where he had to choose between spending money for the bus and food, he would save the money he had to buy himself music Equipment. With his family not fully supportive of his music career he only had his older brothers supporting him along the way. When Suga debuted under the company during the time he was also working his part time job. He got a shoulder injury and hid it from his manager, and the rest of the members of the group, later for them to find out. His manager made a deal with Suga that they will help cover his shoulder injury if he works hard on being trainee and his music.
After 3 years of training under the company alongside his other members, in 2016. BTS won their first ever daesang for award for Album of the Year at the 2016 – Most beautiful moments in life: Young Forever. Melon Music Awards and Artist of the Year at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Which is a big deal in the kpop music industry.
If Suga never had debuted with BTS he wouldn’t be where he is today. Without the support from the company, and their huge fan base. BTS’s music journey was a hit or miss. During their time when they were debuting in 2013, there was already bigger and other well-known kpop groups before them who overshadow them. Without their first daesang win, BTS wouldn’t be as well known. Their frame didn’t happen overnight. It took them years to finally get recognized by people streaming their songs on YouTube and other platforms, voting for them in award shows, but even with that recognition, they weren’t as well known in America at the time.
Suga’s and BTS main way of connecting with fans is by twitter, weverse, and instagram, for their music. It’s mostly all from their official YouTube account with over 63M subscribers. The way how Suga’s and BTS got their success was through luck and chances. This example is a 50/50 chance, especially if you’re in the kpop music industry. Most solo artists were from groups before siding off with everyone else. In Suga’s case. He chooses to be a part of BTS instead of being a solo artist, because of how close everyone got during the times they were together and with his manager too. BTS wouldn’t be the same without all 7.

Sewerslvt AKA Jvne/Jvnko is a breakcore and atmospheric drum and bass artist that has found popularity on TikTok and YouTube about a year ago, creating music with depressive overtones and “aesthetic” covers that appeal to teenagers and young adults. At the time of this post, she has been on a permanent hiatus from producing music since November of 2021.
Beginnings
Jvne originally went by Sadboy Sheldon and would create remixes of popular songs, and these remixes can be defined as pisscore. Unfortunately, Jvne was not well known during this time, so it is difficult to find many records pertaining to their former alias Sadboy Sheldon. Jvne has also deleted many of the songs and videos they created during this time, possibly due to controversy over offensive titles of the songs.
Pisscore is a satirical genre using heavy sampling of Skrillex as well as many other popular artists in combination with a high tempo.
Management
Jvne does not have a significant social media presence outside of YouTube. Most Sewerslvt tracks are currently on the official YouTube channel; albums, EPs and singles can be bought on Bandcamp, and there used to be a Sewerslvt merchandise store before Jvne decided to retire Sewerslvt.
Longevity
If Jvne did not enter her permanent hiatus, she potentially could have been popular for several years from now. She has been on an upward trend in popularity ever since her music started being used on TikTok, and on YouTube the Sewerslvt channel (as of January 2022) has over 200,000 subscribers.
Repeatable
Jvne’s popularity seems to come from a little bit of luck, unique aesthetic, and consistency in production. She was releasing albums, EPs and singles several times a year from 2017 to 2021, and eventually her music was picked up by TikTok users, leading to even greater success.
This example of success CAN be repeated. There was not a specific fluke or interesting scenario that allowed Sewerslvt to become popular, but instead for the most part it was hard work and dedication.
Alec Benjamin is a singer-songwriter, grew up in Phoenix Arizona, his breakthrough happened in 2018 with his song “Let Me Down Slowly”. This he ended up rereleasing with Alessia Cara, a well known artist.
While at the University of Columbia, he signed in with Columbia records, but the partnership ended soon after the album was released. He still went on a tour in Europe and opened for Marina Kaye and Lea which he paid for himself. Other than that, he would perform in public outside of show venues and hand out business cards for self-promotion.
He has been signed by Atlantic Records since 2018.
One booster he got, was when someone used his song “I Built a Friend” as the track for a dance on America’s Got Talent.
He has his own website on which he promotes his music, with links to all his streaming platforms. He lists the dates he is going on tour. On there he also sells his own merch which includes hoodies, hats, shirts, and socks. link is below!
https://www.alecbenjamin.com/
Another promotion technique he uses is making “The Story Behind the Story” videos, which explain the background and lyrics on songs.
As a reflection of he started, he creates “Can I Sing For You” videos, where he performs acoustically in public.
He has built a good reputation for himself. He is loved for his songs which have a lot of meaning. Since his breakthrough 4 years ago he has been steadily been releasing new music that has gotten popular as well. I think his career will last a long time.
Alec Benjamin did get some “lucky breaks”, but most of it was hard work and persistence. He kept trying and didn’t give up when his first label dropped him. He does a lot of self-promotion. The ones he did; creating his own website, merch, handing out business cards in public, making supplementary videos about himself, can be replicated quite easily. He also does touring, which is really good for meeting new connections. While touring isn’t possible right now, it is a good thing to invest in, even if your first one has to be self-funded like his.
a) PinkPantheress aka Vicky Walker, is an English singer / songwriter / producer, who has blown up online this past year. Her distinctly high pitched and catchy vocals on top of modernised jungle and drum ‘n’ bass instrumentals set her apart from other online musical artists and trends.
b) While studying film at the University of the Arts London, Vicky created a TikTok account by the username PinkPantheress. As she posted her music on the platform, it went viral, leading to a signing at Parlophone Records. Her most popular song on tiktok is “Just for me” which has over 2 million videos created with the sound. The #pinkpantheress tag on Tiktok has 191 million views attributed to the videos that obtain the hashtag.
c) Pinkpantheress has a fairly small online presence for an artist of her magnitude who gained her following online. However, she’s played 3 solo shows in and around London so far. And with more gigs on the way, playing huge festivals like Reading & Leeds in the UK, and Primavera Sound in Los Angeles, one has to think something is working in terms of her management and marketing.
d) For a lot of online artists, especially those on Tiktok, longevity is their kryptonite. They blow up, have their moment, and fall just as quickly as they rose. However, I think the case is different for PinkPantheress. While her come up through Tiktok is one many artists have followed, I think the business side of her career has done well so far to keep her career alive, and I think if she continues to play her cards right, her longevity will be a landmark that other small artists online can follow for years to come.
e) What I’ve learnt, and I think others will take away from PinkPantheress’ story and career so far, is that while the road she took is a busy one, the uniqueness and genre-bending style of her music surpasses all of that. So the first step in achieving music stardom, longevity included, is to simply make good music. I think her entrance into the industry is absolutely repeatable, and anyone can do it. She started from her college dorm and in less than a year is on the main stage at Reading. There’s no reason why any one person can’t replicate her path into musical stardom and notoriety.
The Warm Audio WA-47 is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone with a switchable polar pattern, designed to emulate the sound of the classic Neumann U 47. (Presumably the 1958-1965 version with the VF 14 tube and the K 47 capsule.)
WA-47price: $1 200 CAD
Neumann U 47(second-hand in 2021): $15 000 CAD (Yes, fifteen thousand.)
Uses: The WA-47 can be used on any source as long as the volume isn’t high enough to overload the tube. Especially pleasing results can be achieved if a warm and slightly dark sound is desired for your source. The WA-47 also has a switchable polar pattern, which allows it to be used in many different multi-mic configurations such as A/B, X/Y, or M/S. Its ability to switch polar patterns would also allow you to control room reflections and the amount of proximity effect when close-miking.
Components:
Capsule: Neumann K 47-style capsule, with the same hole pattern and frequency response as the original. Externally biased, centre-terminated, dual 6μ mylar diaphragms, single backplate.
