What dog breed should I get?

Hi all,

Since I’ve never been a dog owner before, I thought I would go to you all for some help. Yes, you can teach me something too! Can you educate me on what dog I should get and the steps leading up to training a dog?

Here are my requirements for the dog:

  • Must be cute and cuddly
  • Must not be too energetic
  • Must be good with kids and a family
  • Must be easy to train (potty train and do cool tricks)

Please write me a paragraph explaining why I should get the “breed” of dog you are suggesting and include a link to the image of them. Make sure you educate me on the dog and tell me all the pros and cons. Thank you!

(I want him, but Aimee won’t let me because it looks too scary)

i don’t know anything about dogs because i don’t have one. plus, my mom is afraid of animals so we never got a pet. she said they are dangerous and disgusting. and i am pretty mad about not having a pet around because i always wanted one since i was young. and i don’t know any dog breeds. so sorry, no ideas.

I think you should get a German Shepherd because I once went to a friends house, and his German Shepherd was very very excited. I feel like he is a very lovable dog and it is friendly.

Its pretty cool that you’re getting a dog, I feel like it’ll be a faithful companion to you and if it lives long enough maybe it can also be a friend to your future kids too (if you have kids.) I disagree with Aimee, I think that dog is cute and there’s nothing scary or intimating about it, the size of the dog is also pretty manageable too. There are tow dogs that I’m gonna tell you about and hopefully you’ll consider one of them.

The first dog is the Affenpinscher (not a very common name for a dog if you ask me). The Affenpinscher, whose name translated from German means “monkey-like terrier”, is one of the most ancient of all toy breeds. The life- span for this dog is about 12-14 years and can reach 9-11 inches in height and 7-9 pounds for weight. Some of the dog’s temperaments are: stubborn, curious, a bit playful, adventurous and fun-loving. Its colours can come in black, tan, grey, silver, red and belge. I think you should get this dog because its loyal to its family members.

The second dog I think you should get is the american Eskimo dog. The American Eskimo Dog is a breed of companion dog, originating in Germany. Its life span is about 13-15 years and its height can reach up to 51 cm. Its temperaments are: intelligent, alert, reserved, protective and friendly. It is NOT hypo allergic. One of the reasons I like the dog is for its colour which is a pretty stainless white.

I have think you should get a pug because they are cuddly, cute and down right adorable. Pugs are good with kids because they don’t bite and they like to be lazy all day. They like to do tricks I think and they would try anything to sleep with you. That is why you should get one

My aunt has a corgi that’s super friendly and cute. Pros : He’s also really easy to train, and whenever he wants a treat he does a trick that he knows my aunt likes. He isn’t TOO energetic, is easily potty trained, knows a whole bunch of tricks and is very obedient. Cons : he loses quite a bit of fur.
Another breed that I would suggest is a Labrador retriever. Pros : they are smart, easy to train, obedient, and get along great with pretty much everyone. Cons : this breed needs a LOT of exercise and loves swimming. If you’re up for the challenge, this is the perfect breed for you!

I recommend that you get a Bernese Mountain terreare because they are guard dogs and they are good with famliy and kids and aren’t so energetic when comes to training they listen to you and potty train them selves and love to play with you and they are cute but there are lot of cute dogs it is your chose

These are massive and it would cost me an arm and a leg to pay for the food. I’ve been told they have hip problems too.

HOW IS THAT SCARY?!?!?!? Anyways, I think that you should get a golden retriever, husky, Siberian husky, american Eskimo dogs, and maltipoos. It’s pretty easy to potty train, and they’re pretty obedient. Also, they’re SUPER cute. Huskies and Siberian huskies are slightly harder to housebreak and are definitely harder to train, but on the plus side, they’re cute and can act as a guard dog. Both American Eskimo Dogs and Maltipoos are easy to potty train and definitely easy to train. And also, American Eskimo dogs look like supercute tiny polar bears.

The dog that I think you should get is a Border collie. My reasons are because:

1.They are gentle and sweet and good with kids.
2.Really smart and are quite easy to train and to learn how tricks.
3.Pretty social so they like to play and have fun.
4.They are protective of your kids. Some people might see this
as a con but I think this is a good thing.
This is why I think you should get a Border Collie.I don’t know how to train a dog but I do know that you’ll have to have patient and care for your dog.

    Pros

Gentle, so they are really good with children
    Smart and easy to train
Super social with both animals and humans
    Protective of children

    Cons

    Will probably bark at strangers
    Shed quite a lot
They may bark a lot if they are left alone

I agree with you, Border Collie’s are a beautiful medium sized dog. A little jumpy, but an overall great choice.

    I LOVE THIS BLOG POST
i love dogs soooooooooo much. i have a westiepoo mix and his name is simba, and he is my BFF. best furry friend.
i think you should get a shepherd dog. i love aussies (Australian shepherds) but they do shed. not as much as huskies though,
then there is the sheltie, or shetland sheepdog. i love these dogs. they shed a little
and finally the border collie, it almost doesn’t shed at all.
all of these dogs are really friendly and are all quite big in size. they are good with kids, just in case. 🙂
and that German shepherd could be good too. it will just shed and get very big, and i think that is where aimee was coming from. just be careful because they have really strong jaws so if you don’t train it right, youmight get seriously hurt.
