Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with playing a few Math games on the projector as a class to add multi-digit numbers together. I have included the links here:

Game 1

Game 2 (Challenge)

Then, students were assigned to work on pages 57-58 #1-9. I also handed back Math Pop Quizzes later in the day. The average for this pop quiz was 83% and a score of Proficient, which is a great average. I will be posting these on Fresh Grade either tonight or tomorrow. This mark does not go toward their report card, but is an update on their progress in this unit.

After, students went to Music, had recess, and then snack.

After snack, students worked on a “Values Reflection” to talk about the value that is most important to them in correspondence to the Carving Presentation/Project discussed yesterday morning.

Then, students had time to work on their Provinces/Territories Report Good Copy. Students will not be getting any more class time for the report and this is due in Good Copy form on Monday. Students will still need to hand in their rough copy booklet and notes along with their good copy.

After lunch, students worked on their good copy of their Autobiographies which is due on Tuesday again along with their rough copy booklet. When students were done, they worked on a couple of grammar worksheets on its vs. it’s and making sentence fragments into full sentences. We also edited some paragraphs together as a grammar exercise.

Then, we had DPA in the classroom and students worked on their poppy artwork in advance of Remembrance Day.

I won’t be here tomorrow, so there won’t be another update as I am at a conference.

In advance: The Weekend Journal Prompt is for students to write a page on someone they look up to.

Have a lovely weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
