Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with our Spelling Test and then I read the class some “Animorphs” aloud. I have marked and posted the Spelling Tests on Fresh Grade. The average was very high for the test, which is awesome!

Then, students went to Music, we had recess, and then snack.

After snack, we did a Math lesson on mental math. We talked about how mental math is doing calculations in your head. We focused on addition equations today and  how to make friendly numbers. We reviewed that if you change a number into a friendly number e.g. 388 + 2 = 390, that at the end of the addition process, you must do the opposite, -2 to the total answer.

Full Example:

388 + 291

388 + 2 = 390        291 -1 = 290

390 + 290 + 680, then I need to subtract 2 and add 1 to reverse the earlier processes I did to make friendly numbers, 680-2 and then plus 1 = 679.

Students were assigned page 50 #1-3 and it is homework if not done.

Then, we started to work on our Social Studies reports in our partners by taking our notes and turning them into full sentences. Students have checklists in their Social Studies packages for each section, to help them make sure they have included all of the possible information they can.

After lunch, we had Daily 5 stations and then an extra DPA + regular DPA for good class behaviour. Finally, at the end of the day, we had library.

Reminder: Students’ rough copy of their Autobiographies is due tomorrow!
