Dear Parents,
Today, we started off with students having time to work on their autobiography booklets. The rough copy of the entire booklet is due on Friday. Then, they worked on their timelines to go along with this project as well.
After, we had snack and recess. Then, we watched and had a discussion about some “Everyday Speech” videos about positive attention vs. Negative attention and how to get attention positively at school. We sorted multiple situations as positive or negative forms of attention getting. We also talked more about keeping our hands to ourselves. In our class meeting that followed, we shared what zone we were in (feelings/mood currently) and gave shoutouts and set specific goals for our classroom. We decided to keep the goal of lining up quickly and quietly as well as behaving at lunchtime.
Then, we talked about how to make healthy choices when we are not at home or are busy as part of our nutrition unit.
After lunch, we drew illustrations for sets of homophones – words that sound the same but have different meanings. Students used dictionaries in their groups to help them.
Then, we worked on our Starry Night pieces of artwork.
Reminder: spelling test tomorrow and the Social Studies notes should all be completed for the project so we can work on writing the report soon.
Tomorrow is also Library!
Have a good night.
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
