Dear Parents,
Today, we started out with getting our new spelling words. Students wrote them down in their spelling folders, the words are also on the blog, and are posted in the classroom above the yellow table for students to access if needed. The next spelling test will be on Thursday, October 28th.
Then, we worked on Lesson 1 of Unit 2 of our textbook. This involves standard form, expanded form, and written (word) form as well as modeling with base 10 blocks. We reviewed some questions and students worked on pages 36-37 #1, 3-8, 12, 14-16 and it is homework if not completed.
After snack and recess, we worked on our Literacy Booklet section of our FSA’s. When students were done, they worked on a capitalization editing sheet in order to continue to practice.
Follow lunch, we worked on taking up the Capitalization Sheet, we went over our Editing Checklist to edit a paragraph of text, and worked on our “Passions and Talents” section of our Autobiographies. Our main focus has been capitalization, editing with use of a checklist, and paragraph form writing this term so far.
At the end of the day, we had DPA, cleaned up the classroom, and then went to the Gym to play a variety of cooperative games, which was a lot of fun.
Hot Lunch Envelopes also went home today.
Have a good night!
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
