Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with our School Wide Writing where we continued to write about the animal we think represents us the most in full sentences and paragraphs. Students did a wonderful job working on their writing! It is homework if this page is not due (not the whole booklet, all of them except the last page).

Then, we had snack and recess. After recess, we went through the last few pages of our mapping booklet – we did a reading on economic sectors, coloured the continents, and labelled directions on a compass rose. After, I introduced the students’ first Social Studies project. Students are tasked with picking a province or territory in partners and have to first take notes in particular sections of their project sheet and then will compile all of their information into a report. Everything must be in their own words. As part of the project, students are also creating a shoebox with 5-created items that represent their province or territory. One person from each partner group needs to bring a shoebox as soon as possible for the project and students are invited to bring items from home to make their projects. Students had time to get started on researching their province/territory with the books in the classroom and on the iPads.

After lunch, we did our Daily 5 stations and then we did our last FSA practice today. Students were sent home with the FSA sample booklets to practice if they would like to, as we did not do the Numeracy practice section.
