Dear Parents,

Today, we took up the Math textbook work and went over any questions the students had. I checked students’ math homework for completion and unfortunately some students hadn’t done/brought their homework. In Grade 4 they need to be responsible for remembering and taking care of their work. Please encourage them to continue to check that they have put their homework in their bag.

Then, students got their first week of spelling words. For more information, please see the blog post below this one for the date of the test and a copy of the words.

After, we did a desk check and students received a star hole punch if they had a clean desk with no loose papers. Most students had very clean desks! This will go toward their report card comments on organization.

After recess, we went over the names of the provinces and territories and students had to use maps to label where each is. Then, we went through the names of the capital cities as well for our first unit on physiological regions.

Following lunch, we started working on our autobiography booklets and students drew and wrote about themselves: their favourites, achievements, firsts, and challenges. We will continue to work on this as our first literacy assignment.

Then, students worked on their crayon carving artwork until the end of the day.

Students write in their planners every day. Please ask your child to show you their planner and review their homework with them.

Thank you 😊

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
