TERRY FOX RUN 2015

Nelson students participated in our annual Terry Fox Run last Friday. After one week of fundraising, bringing in Toonies for Terry & collecting pledges, we raised over $1900 for the Terry Fox Foundation!! Way to go Nelson!! Our fundraising over the last few years has been:
2011 ~ $506
2012 ~ $642
2013 ~ $1430
2014 ~ $1097
We reached this year’s goal of $1200! I’m so proud of all of your hard work!
This means a Nelson teacher will be cutting off their hair to donate to make wigs for children fighting cancer. Stay tuned to see who it is!!Click on the 35 above to see our runners in action!

Thank you to all the students who took a chance & created questions to our 1st Think Math answer last week:
The answer is 23 students in Mrs. James’ classroom.
Mrs. James has 11 girls & 12 boys in her class. How many students in all? ~ Mrs. James
Daniel has 18 boys & 5 girls in his class. How many in all? ~ Daniel
There are 3 students that are done their work & 20 students that are not done. How many in all? ~ Casandra
There are 22 kids in the classroom & 1 came in. How many in all? ~ Cayla

Here’s this week’s answer! Good luck Grade 3s! Remember there are as many different correct answers as there are students in our class! I can’t wait to share the answers next Monday!

Summer Where Am I? ~ 5

Congrats to Kristina for correctly guessing the our 4th Where Am I? of the summer! Check out the Where Am I? page to see the winning answer & one of my very favourite places in Vancouver!!
The inspiration for our 5th & final Summer Where Am I? clue comes from a fair which opened in 1910 with an admission cost of only 50 cents! I was there last week with my bridesmaids, visiting all the animals & watching Boyz II Men in the amphitheatre. What a great show, but a chilly, chilly night!

classroom visitor

I had a visitor my last day in the classroom! It fluttered around the classroom for awhile before settling down on the tent. I thought he might be one of the Kindergarten’s or Miss Sam’s butterflies they raised & then let go, but when I traded pictures with Miss Tsakalos it turns out to be slightly different.
