❄️ Winter Break ❄️

Happy New Year Division 9!! I hope everyone enjoyed their two week break! I wish we could be sharing stories together now, but until I see you next week, here are a few highlights of my family’s Christmas in Vancouver and Comox.

First, my big brother, Geoff, visited us for the first time in 2 years. Yay! He lives in London, England and we were able to see him a few times during his short trip to Vancouver. Next, Kennedy, Ava, their Oma (my mom) and I visited the Christmas Train in Stanley Park. It’s my very favourite thing to do during the holidays. The girls and I also visited the German Christmas Market and Kennedy and I took a ride on the Merry Go Round. Kennedy also got a chance to make a yummy gingerbread house with her friend Ethan. It was lots of fun but a challenge for me and Ethan’s mom to keep Ava and Ethan’s little brother Aiden away from the candies as the icing was hardening!
We then travelled to Vancouver Island to visit Kennedy and Ava’s Grandma and Grandad (Ryan’s parents) in Comox. It snowed SO MUCH that the power went out the first morning we got there. Kennedy took advantage of the opportunity to make some pretty funny shadow animals on the walls. Kennedy was constantly making snowmen, snow angels and helping Ryan shovel the driveway many times. Ava as much as a fan of the snow, but managed to be out in it a little more every day.
A tradition that both Ryan and I grew up with was being read The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve, just like I read to all of you on the last day of school before the break. Kennedy and Ava’s grandparents continued the tradition by reading it on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning, Kennedy was so excited to receive an Elsa doll and Ava was really intrigued with her new Mrs. Potato Head toy. We spent all day playing with their toys, eating treats and being in the snow.
We were so excited to see snow when we arrived back in Vancouver, but unfortunately it was so soft and powdery that we couldn’t make much more than a snow cone with a few leaves stuck in it instead of a snowman 😄

I can’t wait to hear about something you did with your family or friends. We’ll share when I see you next, but in the meantime, you can email me at stephaniewatt@burnabyschools.ca or write about it here by clicking Leave a Comment / * Comments on the top or bottom of this post.
I can’t wait to hear from you! ❤️, Ms. Watt
