What do you notice about this map?
I hope you all enjoyed a nice long weekend! This week we will focus on Chapters 9 & 10 in our Read Aloud. Think about the continent where William grew up and perhaps draw a similar map of the continent where you are currently growing up. What is our continent and what countries does it include? How many countries are on the continent of Africa?

My continent is North America. There are 3 countries, Canada, USA and Mexico. I would need a better map to tell how many countries in Africa. Google says 54, that’s a lot.

William grew up in Africa. I don’t know how many countries there are in Africa but when I looked it up in google it said there are 54 countries.

I noticed that it does not show the other countries in Africa. It also looks like the ear of an elephant. The four bodies of water surrounding it are the South Atlantic Ocean, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean. We live in North America and the other countries in our continent are Mexico and the USA. I think Egypt is at the top of Africa because there are pyramids.

There are 54 countries in Africa. These are the first ten of them. Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, and Chad. I noticed that the only place shown in the map other than Wimbe and Lilongwe is Malawi. We live in North America. North America has 23 countries. These are the first ten of them. USA, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.
