Work for Thursday May 7th

  1. Watch We Don’t Eat Our Classmates
  2.  Reading:
    1. Grade 1’s: read a book on Raz Kids and make a recording
    2. Kindergarten’s: spend 10-15 minutes listening to books, or reading books on Raz Kids. Complete a Beginning/Middle/End sheet or draw a picture about your favourite part of one of the stories.
  3. Create a Mother’s Day book. Listen to the stories on the Mother’s Day page. Think about what things you do with your Mom and why you love her. (more information on the Mother’s Day page on the home page)
  4. Math: look at your coins table/chart and say the name and the amount of each coin. Do the same activity as yesterday, pretend your counters are different coins and practice skip counting. Pretend they are nickels, and count by 5’s, pretend they are dimes and count by 10…(then loonies and toonies as well). Try counting the quarters, when you count by 25’s, you say 25, 50, 75, 100, when you get to 100, put those 4 “coins” in a pile and count again starting at 25, continue making piles until you have used all 20 “coins”, then you can count each pile as $1.

Optional:

  1. Complete some of the Ryan T. Higgins activities on Teams. I’ve added the activities for today’s book.
  2. Do some of the activities from What’s in My Piggy Bank under Math on Teams. The first page is counting coins, the second they can draw some coins in the piggy bank and then add them up, the third page is a matching game that you can print and cut up.
  3. Have your parents give you some real coins and try counting them. It’s easiest to start with the coins that are worth the most. Start with only a few different coins.
