Outdoor Education Day

Wow did we luck out with the weather today!  It was a bit chilly but thankfully the rain held off and we were able to get out to explore and do some learning outdoors.

We know that it doesn’t look like much right now but we have a surprise hiding deep in the soil that we can’t wait to observe as the seasons change.  Our class is participating in the Planting a Promise program through Agriculture in the Classroom and this morning we looked closely at daffodil bulbs and then we planted some to winter in one of our big metal tubs near the music room.

Later in the afternoon we explored the school grounds doing a nature scavenger hunt.  Most of us were able to find everything on our lists including a pumpkin! however finding a bee and butterfly were pretty difficult.  The class wasn’t very excited when I tried to convince them that finding the letter “B” might work as a substitute.

It was a great day to spend some time outdoors and we can’t wait to get back outside again soon.
