Current Events

Hi everyone,

As you know, there have been many events that have been occurring both in Canada and around the world. I have been holding off from writing a post but I feel that, as ‘involved citizens,’ we should be aware of these events and compiling our thoughts and opinions.

This blog post can be regarding your interests and what you would like to discuss regarding the issue. My only request is that your post is complete and detailed. You should present facts and some sort of concluding thought(s). Your analysis should have researched facts and details to support your response.

So, what could you write about?  Some topics are listed below for you!

  • Russian invasion of Ukraine – look into the Russian president and his explanation for the invasion. What are your thoughts about what has occurred ? Should countries be putting more pressure on Russia to stop? Should there be more support for Ukraine?
  • Olympics in China – technically Canada was ‘diplomatically boycotting’ it – why was this? Was it justified? How do you think that it would/did impact our athletes?
  • Canada’s performance in the Olympics – how did Canada do? What were some notable athletic achievements or mentions?
  • Trucker protest in Ottawa – Was it necessary for Trudeau to put the emergency order into effect so to remove the protesters? Who / what organisations were funding the truckers? Are the protesters even truckers? Should the vaccine be mandatory for truckers?
  • Covid – what are you thoughts about countries opening up around the world? Is this too early or is it justified? Do you think that Covid will become like the common cold/flu? Should masks become permanent or lifted?
  • Other – your choice! Please pass this by me before!

Your post is due on Monday! Please complete a detailed, proof-read response. It should be around 20-25 sentences (or more, always better than less!). I am excited to read your posts. Again, be sure to consider both sides – I know this is harder to do for some issues. But again, back up your opinions with facts!

Vaccines have been a big issue and a large debate topic since covid has started. But the government has now said that truckers need to be Vaccinated, this has caused much drama since Truckers do not interact much with other people, so really there is no need to have it. And now recently children ages 3 and up can now get vaccines, this also has caused much drama around the world. But of course, I also have an opinion on this topic, just like everybody has. I personally think that Vaccines for truckers should not be mandatory, even if I am not anti-vacs, I think that if a simple not social job as a trucker needs to be double vaccine, other jobs like, teacher, restaurant working, Shaw, and others! But this is only my opinion, other opinions of other websites may include other ideas, agreeing or disagreeing. Protest have occurred in various places and cities. This has caused many Truckers to quit their jobs as they may be anti-vacs of not in the right state to get the vaccine. Some things may have different opinions, just like this one but most opinions have led of to no, just for the reasons I have listed above. But some people think that this is correct of truedo to decide, that truckers should be vaccines for many different reasons. Yes, many people may not agree, but it is they’re options. In my opinion I think everybody should keep their opinion to themselves. I think this because without everybody agreeing to one thing, protests wouldn’t happen around Canada and this topic is not very harsh. I may be right or wrong on this, but it is again my opinion. I have done research, and many other websites are quoting truedo then either saying yes or no on their own websites. This is their opinion but in some, it sounds like they maybe be forcing it onto you as a reader. Some may say otherwise or try and give you a very logical reasoning for they’re opinion. Some may say a very short paragraph of what they think and leave it there. I think this is very stupid, the only way I agree is the type of website where they give you a logical explanation. This is because instead of just giving you their opinions. They are giving you the logic and explanation of it and how or why they may think that. Like I have said before, this is a very large topic to talk about, especially with a limited time or a limited space of words. This makes it harder on website writers because they cannot say exactly what other websites say or they could be charged with copyright and have their website taken down or even worse. But in the end, everything will pass, and most people will forget about this problem.

Due to covid when things were shut down, people were out of jobs, and they were facing problems because of a lack of income to pay for food, shelter, and bills. This causes the government to be at a loss. There is a decrease in resources of the government meaning the economy is in a bad state. The governments of different countries started opening up because they wanted to improve their economic status. Some countries have already stopped making masks mandatory and I think it should still be mandatory. They could spread the virus to other people which causes more people to get covid-19 and makes them sick. On the other side, I think vaccine passports shouldn’t be mandatory because some people didn’t get their vaccine yet. They won’t be able to enter restaurants, clubs, and airports, making it a problem for them as it stops them from doing the things they love. But these people who are unvaccinated are not being stopped from their basic tasks like getting groceries. I think their fight against the vaccine is not sensible because the guidelines are put in place to protect people and the ones they love. For now, I think masks should be worn by everyone so that we don’t spread covid. If we wear masks, it will keep us safe. In the future, we would be able to have the freedom of taking off our masks. For our future safety, the government should take an action about the mask mandate now. To add to this discussion, I think covid is most likely going to stay like the common cold. Even though right now covid and the common cold are different in the way that covid is deadly and the common cold is not, the hope is that one day it will not be deadly. This is possible if people get immunity from the covid virus. We can get immunity through the vaccine. The vaccine will produce antibodies in our system to help us protect and fight the virus. After the vaccine, it is still possible to get Covid-19. But the symptoms will be less intense. Before everyone’s life had stopped because of covid but in the future, if the spread of the virus had stopped, we can all go back to normal.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Many different events happened, such as curling, hockey, figure skating and many others. Above all, a very interesting event happened as well. What is known as a diplomatic boycott. The US had announced a diplomatic boycott of the Olympic games in December, calling out China’s human rights abuse, including the “ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity” being perpetrated by the reign and tyranny against the Uyghur ethnic group in the Xinjiang region. The U.K., Australia and Canada quickly adopted the same approach. While other states were keeping away from china, and some like Japan and Denmark have been clear about human rights concerns as a motivator, others have attributed the decision to the pandemic, or have unique geopolitical beef with China. For example, India announced their very own diplomatic boycott on an earlier Thursday after a soldier in a recent India-China border conflict was included in the Olympic torch relay. The idea of this boycott is meant to protest the 2022 Olympic games by not having one’s countries athletes be sent in. But of course, the athletes who had spent their entire lives preparing for this competition insisted on being sent in despite the boycott as they wanted to win medals and represent their countries. While the treatment of Uyghurs is at the top of the list, there’s plenty of fodder for displeasure with China and the IOC’s decision to award the regime the 2022 Olympics. The competition for 2022 hosting duties, by the way, came down to China and Kazakhstan which was another nation that troubles human rights groups, after four European countries dropped out. There was a very high chance that if the boycott hadn’t happened, the Beijing 2022 Olympics would have easily sport washed what was truly happening and distracted people from the human rights abuse against the Uyghur ethnic group in the Xinjiang region. Sport washed Is a term that is used in this circumstance to distract from the human rights reality in China, or being leveraged to burnish the regime’s image in the eyes of the world. All in all this boycott was very intriguing and it was very surprising to learn what had happened behind the scenes during the Olympics. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this!

Countries are starting to open up again, and restrictions are slowly being lifted. But is it too early for this to occur? Or is Covid going to become like a common cold or the flu?

It seems fair to ease restrictions if most of your city’s (province, state, country, etc.) citizens are fully vaccinated. I think masks would not be necessary, and large social gatherings would be okay. For example, here in BC, about 81% of the population is fully vaccinated. I don’t have a problem with the government lifting restrictions, since the majority of the population is vaccinated. Now, if most citizens are not fully vaccinated, I wouldn’t say it’s safe to lift restrictions. If that was to happen in a place where most people aren’t vaccinated, there would certainly be a Covid outbreak and people would have to quarantine once again.

I feel like Covid is going to become just like the flu, or a common cold. There’ll be annual booster shots to prevent people from getting it, and it won’t be an issue as big as it is today. However, that will only happen if most of the world’s population is vaccinated against COVID-19. Most scientists believe that once adults become immune, the virus “will be no more of a threat than the common cold,” as reported by The New York Times. According to Jennie Lavine, a postdoctoral researcher at Emory University, “The timing of how long it takes to get to this sort of endemic state depends on how quickly the disease is spreading, and how quickly vaccination is rolled out.” In other words, the faster everyone is immune, the sooner the pandemic will be over.

But the big question is, when will the pandemic end? Well, WHO chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, says the pandemic ‘acute phase’ could end by mid-year if at least 70% of the world is vaccinated. Currently, 56% of people around the world are fully immunized. We probably won’t be able to get 70% by mid-year, but I hope we can. Once the pandemic is over, we’ll have to learn to coexist with Covid. As I mentioned before, this virus will become like the Influenza virus; annual boosters, and not a very big deal.

Those are my thoughts on the pandemic and the lifting of restrictions. Just to clarify, this is only a personal opinion. I could be wrong, and others may disagree with me. Thanks for reading! 🙂

    Russian invasion of Ukraine

My thoughts about the battle between Russian and Ukraine, so on Thursday Russia launched an unpredictable attack on Ukraine. The battle is on the ground and on the air, I think Russia will beat Ukraine on the air is because their air force is top two, and Ukraine is not even top ten. Russia is going to win the armed force is because Russia got the world top four army and Ukraine only is only top twenty something. If you ask how many soldiers Russia does have, they have 900,000 troops (about half the population of Idaho). If you also asked how many troops Ukraine has, they have 250,000 troops (about half the population of Wyoming). The country’s that are going to help Ukraine are America they are going to help is by they will send the NATO the NATO includes Soviet Union countries Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia a member of NATO. These countries will try to help Ukraine. Amarica is also going to nine thousand soldiers on standby in view of the handling the war. Five thousand soldiers that are part of NATO currently Poland, while four thousand soldiers are in Romania and Bulgaria. The NATO says that they The US has announced its support to Ukraine in the event of a war. Although America and NATO countries have said that they will not send their troops directly to Ukraine for the purpose of war, but will continue to provide other support such as weapons, medical things etc. The country’s that are going to support Russia are China is willing to help is because Russia have help China for the last two decades like for example the World War one and two etc., therefore China is going to help Russia attack Ukraine. Also, China strongest ally North Korea is also going to help is because like Russia help China, and then China helped north Korea is China is going to ask north Korea to help Russia, so these three countries are going to try to defeat Ukraine. Why did Russia government invade Ukraine? If I were government I would also invade is because I want more land, but Russia government want to invade is because he wants to overthrow the president of Ukraine. Well so far Russian forces have so far knocked out 211 Ukrainian military installations, including 17 command centers, nineteen air defense missile systems, thirty-nine radar units, sixty-seven tanks and six warplanes. They also already launched two hundred missiles into Ukraine, and some have hit residential areas. Russia and China have 1,550 deployed nuclear warheads. So, Russia is going to win is because they have an enormously powerful ally like China and north Korea. China a strong ally is because China is the world second strongest country and north Korea is also good. This is by blog post. By icheng.

Russia is invading Ukraine, and Putin is to be held responsible for it. Whatever you think the reasoning for Putin’s invasion is, you’re probably wrong. Every news outlet has a different explanation for why Russia is invading Ukraine. His explanation for doing so makes absolutely no sense. At the beginning, Putin denied the idea of him invading his neighbour country. However, he ended up breaking a peace deal and went on to invade Ukraine from all directions, except for the west. The most logical explanation for Russia’s invasion is that Putin wants to reestablish a Russian empire, whilst also preventing a democratic encirclement around Russia.

This isn’t the first time Russia has attacked Ukraine. Russia invaded Crimea in 2014 and ended up capturing it. What is happening now is just part 2 of that same thing. You are free to disagree with me, but Crimea is still a part of Ukraine. I personally see this as a war between Russia and Ukraine. Russia, being Russia, obviously doesn’t want to fight on their land, so they’re doing it in Ukraine instead. I find it absurd that countries such as Belarus are playing “passive aggressive” in this situation by allowing Russia to go through, making it easier for them to invade the capital.

The capital is somewhat chaotic, too. Innocent Russian civilians are being attacked out of hate, for which they are not to blame. Pretend it’s 1943 and you hear someone speaking German, of course you’d want to slap the excrement out of them. Some of Russia’s military has decided to play it safe by wearing Ukrainian military uniforms, which didn’t end well. The Ukrainians have found a way to distinguish between their military and fakes which, as insane as it may sound, is by getting them to say “Strawberry.” Crazy, I know. Russian media outlets are spreading a bunch of lies, too. For example, МТВ is making claims that are simply not true, saying things like how none of their army was killed and bragging about how many Ukrainians were killed.

As of February 26th, there is estimated to be more than 5,000+ Russians dead already. Ukraine is ashamed of this, but they are demanding Russia to remove the rotting bodies off of their land. The intentions of the soldiers were unforgivable, and Ukraine does not want the bodies to be buried on their land. They also want to send the bodies back to give the Russian civilians an idea of just how many of their people have died, discouraging them from sending more. Many Russian parents are not even aware that their children are being sent to invade Ukraine, so seeing their child’s body would be beyond unexpected. As of February 24th, the Ukrainian military has successfully demolished 30 tanks, 130 units, 7 planes, and 6 helicopters. Keep in mind that these numbers have grown since then. 6 planes were destroyed by one pilot, who has been nicknamed the “Ghost of Kyiv.” Women, out of free will, are making Molotov Cocktails to fend off Russians.

There has always been that question of whether other countries should be putting pressure on Russia to stop. In my opinion, yes, they should be, but not in the dumb Joe Biden Muppet way. So far, the USA has been a part of almost every war happening outside of it, and I think the USA should just keep to themselves if they’re going to do it in the usual way. We all know what happened with the Taliban. I vividly remember Joe Biden being asked “Do you trust the Taliban” to which he replied, “Is this a joke?” He wasn’t taking the reporter seriously, so the reporter asked the question again, to which he replied “No, I do not.” Fast forward a few months later, Joe Biden says something along the lines of “We have been working closely with the Taliban to escort the people out of Kazakhstan.” I fear that if the USA were to get involved in this conflict, they would do the same thing they have done with the Taliban. In fact, I see Joe Biden and him encouraging Russia to stop as a complete joke. In a recent interview, he was asked what he was doing to stop the war, and it was genuinely difficult to watch as you could see him holding in his laughter. At that point you just want to end him already. He is clearly taking advantage of this entire thing. More and more people are fleeing to the US as refugees from Ukraine which is increasing the value of the US dollar. This same thing happened in 2014. Vladimir Putin also made threats saying that he will unleash “utter chaos” if the US or any country were to interfere.

Now there’s the question of whether there should be more support for Ukraine. Ukraine had attempted to join NATO on several occasions, hoping to receive help from them in return. Whether Ukraine is NATO or not is still kind of confusing to me, so I’m going to say they’re not because I don’t see NATO helping Ukraine right now. Back to the question of whether Ukraine should receive more support. A lot of people right now are saying things like “WHOOOO #PRAYINGFORUKRAINE.” when before, they didn’t even know anything about Ukraine. Heck, it’s probably their first-time hearing about it, and they’re just joining in on all the action. Sure, support from other people and countries is great, but only when it is genuine and not just forced. Much like the Taliban thing, people were showing all their support and care, but then it’s kind of just died down because all of that was not genuine.

Olympics in China. Canada joined the United States and others in a diplomatic boycott against the Beijing Olympic Games. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada would ban government officials from attending the Winter Olympics. Justin Trudeau said, “We are extremely concerned by the repeated human rights violations by the Chinese government.” Government officials of the countries will not be attending the Olympics. Canadian athletes will still be able to compete in the games. The reason is for Beijing’s persecution against Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in Xinjiang. As well as the actions of the Chinese government in Hong Kong and toward Taiwan. Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry, stated that the Olympics are not a place for political matters or manipulation. They believe that the boycotting will not affect the Olympics and are not concerned. Many people said that sports should not get dragged into politics, and I agree. A sport is an activity that requires physical movement and skill. Where an individual or team competes for entertainment. Yet a sport plays to be friendly battles, but the Olympics are much more. The Olympics were first created from the 8th century B.C. to the 4th century A.D., to honour the Greek god Zeus. The goal of the Olympics now is to cultivate human beings and contribute to world peace. Boycotting the Beijing Olympics was not justified for those countries. Yet, this does not excuse the Chinese government from what they did. What the Chinese Government did was a violation of human rights, but it is not an excuse to bring politics into sports. They are not thinking about the relationship of the athletes or the viewers. Athletes become pressured from their country weighing a goal. To bring back a goal medal. There are better ways to deal with human rights violations. Yet what is happening is not a valid reason nor is it justified. Even though it is only the politicians missing the games others have opinions too. These all have impacts that no one can imagine. The Chinese government has violated human rights, but to bring the accusations, politics, and more into the Olympic games is disrespectful. The Olympics have communicated building relationships. It is a main source of entertainment too. Even if people still see every other country the same after the boycott, wouldn’t the athletes feel ashamed? The fact that their country will not send any, well, ‘important’ people, does that mean that they are worthless? The fact that it is as if you have no importance for support or anything. If people agree with the government, they will lose interest in the Olympics. As the Olympics is a source of entertainment, why would you boycott something so many people enjoy. Yet a former Olympian says that Canadian athletes should join the country’s boycott as well. Drew Neilson of B.C., he competed in snowboarding at the 2006 Turin Games and 2010 Vancouver Games. He said that it is unconscionable for athletes to go compete in a country that is known for its human rights violations. “The list (of crimes against humanity in China) goes on and on,” said Neilson. He stated that he became disgusted at the fact that the athletes would go to the Olympics to compete for a medal. As well as saying that humans are more important than gold medals or pieces of metal. Neilson has never placed in the Olympics though. My thoughts are that even though he has stated his point I do not think it was thought of enough. Yes, the athletes are playing for gold as that is how the games work. As I said before the Olympics are to introduce world relationships and respect. Canadian athletes have a lot of pressure on their backs. They have indeed worked for the entire year to prepare for the Olympics. The winter Olympics were cancelled once, getting those athletes to wait longer. Thinking about the time the coaches, athletes, and sponsors have put into the Olympics, it does not seem fair to quit. I understand that China has committed many human rights violations. Yet these athletes worked hard to get here, including that they have international friends. Not only do they have these but also a public view of things, supporters, viewers, fans, and more. To find out your favourite athlete boycotted the Olympics how would you view them now? A wimp, unprofessional, scared. These do not make sense, there are better ways to handle political situations. There are points to how it was justified and how it was not, yet it involves a lot of stress and more. It was unsmart of Canada to do this when there are differences in the Chinese government and the Olympic Games.

Russian shouldn’t have invaded Ukraine. I think that because Ukraine isn’t involved and didn’t do anything to the Russian country. I think if both counties fight, then it will make since. But still, they shouldn’t fight no matter what. I think that doing this will make both counties be enemies and maybe hate each other. If Ukraine doesn’t even what to fight with the Russian country. Then Russians shouldn’t force then into fighting. So, what’s the point in trying to fight the Ukraine if the Ukraine doesn’t what to fight. But for some reason the Russian decides to fight Ukraine. I think there’s no point. I think there should be support for the Ukraine and try to help them. And not Russian. Russian should not get any support because they are invading the Ukraine even though the Ukraine doesn’t what to fight. So, I looked in the news and I saw a video about Russians saying that they are going to use bombs and throw them in the Ukraine. Which I think is so mean and bad to do. Because it might destroy the Earth in some way. But not like we can’t live here anymore. Just some think different like the gravity or something. There is so many people that are in Russian country that were protesting and saying that we shouldn’t start or have a war. Most of those people got arrested. There are even some people that are Russian but not in the country and saying that and doesn’t want this to happen. There are some countries helping the Ukraine. But what I think is that then later they will start wanting to invade them too. And that will be because of them helping the Ukraine and not the Russians. Russians should not have any support because Russians should maybe also have a reason why they need to invade the Ukraine.

With the 2022 Winter Olympics that happened around a week ago. Hopefully you got to see some of it, if not most of it. In fact, Canada did very well in the 2022 Winter Olympics this year, there were both the emotional moments and the happy/celebrating moments. The 215 (109 men and 106 women in 14 different sports. Canadian athletes brought back a total of 26 medals! (4 gold, 8 silver and 14 bronze). In the Women’s Speed Skating, Japan was set to win, but Takagi Nana fell on the final corner. This happened because Takagi’s skate hit the ice toe first into the ice, breaking into a fall in which Canada won.

For Women’s Ice Hockey, Sarah Nurse scored her sixth goal of the Olympics in the eighth minute of the first period, redirecting a low crossing pass from Claire Thompson past USA goaltender Alex Cavallini (1-0). The game’s first goal came only 35 seconds after the Canadians had a goal chalked off for offside.

Next there was Max Parrot who won gold in the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games snowboard slopestyle finals at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou on Monday. He won a silver medal in the Slope Style event in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics and overcame cancer in 2019. He later said that it was the biggest run he had ever done and that “I’ve never done two triples in a row in a run, with that difficulty as well, and everything was so clean.”

Then with the short track men’s 1500m. With 14 laps to go, Canada was still in front, but the skaters clumped together, and Sun Long of the People’s Republic of China slipped out of the running for a medal. The race had split into two parts by this stage. The Republic of Korea was attempting to catch Canada, while Italy and the ROC were both vying for the final medal. Canada’s Charles Hamelin, Steven Dubois, Pascal Dion, and Pierre-Gilles won an exuberant gold — Hamelin’s sixth Olympic medal – in the end.

I am going to be talking about the war between Russia and Ukraine. For some reason people are also calling it a ‘conflict’ between Russia and Ukraine. It is way more than that. For one, people are dying from Putin’s stupid actions. Even though it is quite literally all Putin’s idea to start a war, a lot of people are blaming the whole Russian Federation, and Russians for it. I am pretty sure that everything that is going on is just the governments fault. I really don’t understand the need for the actions that Canada is taking. For example, Canada is not delivering any food products from Russia, because they don’t want to interfere, and it result cause a World War III. I am pretty sure that Canada is being pretty much coward-like, because they are making this fuss about something that is happening on the different side of the globe. I am not saying that what is going on right now is not important, but people are just using this, to avoid talking about other problems in their own countries. Like where in the world is Justin Trudeau? I, myself am Russian, and I think people are also using this as a possible excuse to discriminate against Russians. Because of the Russian Government, many people believe that Russian people, and any person who has anything to do with Russia, is evil and bad. That is completely not true. The government doesn’t represent a country, the population does. As people say, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, says that Ukraine was committing genocide against Russians, and that there was a threat to the safety of Russia. There is no evidence to prove that, and, of course, the Ukrainian Government deny it, and has literally no idea about what Putin is talking about. There really isn’t a good reason for any of the Russian Government’s actions, and Putin’s thought process is very questionable. I don’t think that all of this is necessary. Many people are being arrested for protesting against the government’s actions. I mean, people always get beat up, and arrested during protests in Russia, but that’s a whole different topic. Anyways, a lot of people are being blamed for the war, that they had nothing to do with. I am pretty sure that other countries should put pressure on the Russian troops to stop, even though Putin had said that they will invade any country that tries to interfere. Ukraine should get more support. Ukraine is a pretty small, but strong country, and they shouldn’t give up. The Russian army is being very irresponsible for starting a war for no reason.

  11. haadiya1 says:

Today I will be talking about Russia and Ukraine. Just today, Friday 25th there were loud gunshots and explosions in Kyiv the capital of Ukraine. After the explosion, Volodymyr Zelenskyy the president of Ukraine had scheduled an emergency meeting because of what happened. After the explosion, they found around 100 dead Ukrainians. Well, my question is why would Russia do this to their neighbours? Well as it turns out they are not very good neighbours because they were not on the best terms and always competing to see who the best was. So, when Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Joe Biden to join NATO Russia was not very happy. If you don’t know what NATO is, it is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization with a total of 28 European counties and 2 North American countries. Being a NATO member affords you military protection. If Ukraine became a NATO member it would have the West’s support against attacks by Russia. Sadly, Ukraine was not accepted into NATO but on the 12th of June 2020, Ukraine joined NATOS’s enhanced opportunity partner interoperability program. Russia asked the whole of NATO as well as joe Biden to not accept Ukraine into the enhanced opportunity partner interoperability program.
Russia belonged to NATO until 2014 but was suspended from NATO when it annexed Crimea. Russia has also since, been sending more and more troops to the Russian, Ukrainian border in the guise of it being for training exercises.
Russia and Ukraine have had significant disagreements since 2014 but it has not escalated into a war. I am optimistic that this will be resolved soon. I think that this was just a very petty fight. I think that the Ukrainian – Russian conflict could be resolved without war by negotiations and communication. I think that world war 3 is something that they have been disagreeing on for years. The one thing that Russia wants is for Ukraine to come back to Russia. However, Ukraine had left Russia to become its own independent country.
Below finds a list of previous conflicts between Russia and Ukraine
    • 24th August- 1991 Ukraine obtained independence from Russia
    • December 2004 – Viktor Yanukovych was appointed president of Ukraine unfairly. He was supported by Russia. The Ukrainians managed to vote again, and Viktor Yanukovych was no longer president.
    • April 2008 – Ukraine tried to gain NATO membership. Russia opposed this
    • 2014 – Russia annexes Crimea and is suspended from NATO
    • December 2021 – Russia sent troops to the border because Ukraine crack the Russian oligarch.
    • Feb. 21, 2022: Russia recognizes breakaway Ukrainian regions as sovereign
Russia pushed Ukraine to come back, Ukraine joined the enchanted opportunity partner interoperability program, Russia asked NATO to kick Ukraine out joined NATO, Russia got kicked out of NATO, Russia coming close to the Ukraine border, Ukraine not coming back to Russia. there are, lots and lots of unimportant disagreements because Ukraine left Russia. Not that I think that this topic is not serious
If you look at the resources that Ukraine has in terms of troops, fighter planes, helicopters etc., this is not a fair fight if Ukraine does not receive military help from other countries. Vladimir Putin has however threatened that he would use nuclear weapons against any country that assists Ukraine, which some experts are saying could result in the start of World War 3.

  12. april7 says:

On February 24th, 2022, Russia began its invasion on Ukraine, destroying cities and taking the lives of hundreds. After months of deploying troops near the border, Russia finally issued an attack. Putin claims that his reasoning behind this invasion is because of Ukraine showing interest in joining with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as they pose a threat to Russia. Despite this, when Ukraine originally expressed the want for independence, Russia rejected that idea, stating, “one people, a single whole,” posing the idea that Ukraine and Russia are inseparable. In addition, there have also been claims that Putin stated that he felt the urge to protect citizens in Ukraine subjected to genocide and bullying, and that Ukraine needed to be “de-Nazified.” Many of Putin’s statements and reasons have been seen as unreasonable and ridiculous.

Personally, I’m not a very political person, nor I am very aware of events happening around the world, but my take on this ongoing war is that it is extremely horrific and unnecessary. From what I’ve heard, Putin wants to seize power, and will not stop. My heart goes out to all the Ukrainians suffering right now. I can’t even image how terrifying and dangerous the current situation in Ukraine is. War is definitely not something to be taken lightly, it takes the lives of millions upon millions of people. It’s brutal, and it rips nations apart. I really hope and pray that this whole conflict will be resolved soon.

Several countries have expressed sympathy and support towards Ukraine and have sent them supplies. However, from what I’ve heard, troops have yet to be deported to Ukraine. In my opinion, NATO appears to be more concerned about Russia invading their territories rather than how Ukraine is holding up. While countries have been urging Russia to stop, I feel like there could be more done. Russia is a very powerful nation and has a very strong military. Especially compared to Ukraine, a country that has been rebuilding itself for not that long. Ukraine is almost entirely alone, fighting this brutal war, and the odds do not seem very favourable for them. Whether or not countries should join in on this war is a conflicted topic. On one hand, Ukraine needs support, but on the other hand, there is a lot of factors that are involved in this, and there are certain reasons that other bigger nations may want to avoid joining in on this war. All in all, I hope that this ruthless war ends quickly, and all the suffering will be put to a stop.

So as you may know Russia invaded Ukraine at the night of February 24, but apparently it’s not the first time because in 2014 Russia invaded Crimea and at the end they got to keep Crimea, so that makes me think that this is just the second part of the Russian plan but I am not sure about that. Some countries are trying to make Vladimir Putin stop the war but as we can see it’s not working because Russia already killed about 1,684 people in two day’s so I don’t think they will stop there. But this war is really unfair to Ukraine only has 245,000 soldiers but Russia has 900,000 soldiers but some countries are going to help Ukraine and others countries are helping Russia which I think that they don’t deserve help. I do understand that not all Russians want this war to occur and they are trying to help Ukrainian populations but that is not their choice It’s Putin’s and hopefully he will notice that he is doing the wrong thing. I think that Putin is taking this too far he already kellied a lot of people and one soldier exploded the bridge and ended up killing himself , another story is that a 14 years old girl was riding her bike and a Russian tank killed her by running over her.

Covid is a bad virus that has been here since mid 2019, and people didn’t know this virus and didn’t know that it was here until January 2020. The symptoms of Covid are fever, sore throat, cough and loss of taste or smell. In 2020, we all had to quarantine and stay in our house, we were being able to go again by September 2020, this is the year that masks were made, they were made on the first or second week of March and were released by the third week of March. There are PCR tests that the Country released last year, and people do not like them, there is one where you get a needle up your nose or gargling salty water (that tastes like a pretzel drink). I think that masks should be lifted because people are getting tired of wearing them, (so am I). When the government says that you don’t have to wear masks anymore/drop them, I will still wear my ask even when they drop it, because people will also wear masks for another while. Covid will not be ending for a long time because people keep getting sick and having to isolate themselves at how for either 5 or 10 days. A lot of stores had to close to this pandemic, but thankfully grocery stores were still open, otherwise, we would have all died from not having food for a few months. People couldn’t go back to work because of this virus, people didn’t start going back to work until June again, this is crazy. The symptoms of Covid can make you die if you don’t be careful enough. Good thing vaccines were released last year, we would’ve probably gotten sicker if we didn’t have vaccines. But now that the Restrictions are lifted, things are going back to normal, like restaurant bars, gyms and movie theatres are now going back to normal. All these restrictions were lifted last week on Thursday. There is one thing though, how come the US is letting people not having to wear masks anywhere, that is so weird, there are more people in the US than there are here. A lot of the people in the US could or could have got sick from this. Canada is the only Country that has PCR tests as of now, that is so weird, people don’t like PCR tests, I don’t understand why Canada is the only Country left with the PCR tests. Hopefully these PCR tests can go away soon, that way we can go back to places, like going to the border.

On Feburaray 24 5:00 AM, Russian President Putin declared war on Ukraine. Bombs and shootings are everywhere in Ukraine even in the capital city Kyiv. Innocent people were killed, and thousands of soldiers died in this war. So, I’m going to talk about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. It all started in 2014 when Russian Russian annexation of Crimea from Ukraine. One of the main reasons why Russia decided to invade Ukraine is because Ukraine wanted to join the NATO (The North Atlantic Treaty Organization) but Russia didn’t allow that. Russia has demanded that the west gives a legally binding guarantee that NATO will not hold any military activity in east Europe and Ukraine. But in January last year in 2021, Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged US president Joe Biden to let Ukraine join NATO. This wasn’t the first time Russia invade Ukraine because back in 2014 when rebels backed by President Putin had seized large swathes of eastern Ukraine and have fought the Ukraine army since then. Now let me explain what NATO really is. NATO is basically an organization where if one of the members in NATO is attacked by a country, they will help the country no matter what. Since Ukraine isn’t part of NATO, no countries can assist Ukraine in this war, although many countries are supporting the Ukraine, they can’t really do anything that will help Ukraine. So far, we know that countries that are supporting Ukraine are Canada, United states of America, United Kingdom, Denmark, Poland, Slovakia and many more countries. United States said that they will deploy troops to the Ukraine, but they didn’t which made a lot of people mad. Now I want to talk about my thoughts on this conflict between Ukraine and Russia. So after Russia declared war people on the internet were crazy about it and people were afraid that Putin might use nuclear bombs. We don’t know yet but I’m sure Russia would be mindful about using nuclear bombs because once they use the nuclear bomb, there’s a chance where everyone in this world dies. That’s the worst scenario but I hope it doesn’t happen. In my opinion, I support Ukraine more than Russia because I just feel bad for the people who died and the soldiers who sacrifice themselves. I also want to pray for the Ukrainians that no more people die.

On February 24, 2022, Russian troops have been invading the borders of Ukraine. According to Russian president Vladimir Putin he denied that he would invade Ukraine but a few days ago that changes. For months Russian troops have been guarding the border. Putin said Russia isn’t “safe” because Ukraine was a modern, developed country. Putin said Ukraine was a “threat” to Russia. Ukraine was to join NATO, but this made Putin uneasy, so they attacked Ukraine. Putin was saying all these ridiculous excuses that aren’t even true. Putin has sent 100,000 troops to the border next thing the happens a war is declared.

In my opinion, Ukraine needs more support because who knows what the Russian government is planning next. Ukraine should be able to join NATO if they want to or not. What Putin is doing is just messed up and shouldn’t be allowed. Both Russia and Ukraine have been in the Soviet Union before it collapsed. Ukraine has been getting support from several other countries some of which are allies with the United States. Since USA isn’t sending troops to aid Ukraine, they should at least send some supplies to help since Russia is a very powerful country in fact the second strongest behind USA. Biden has refused to send troops. Biden said he will only send troops to rescue American citizens that are stuck. Biden made it clear that Americans are not fighting in this battle.

Overall, I think Biden should at least send supplies to help the innocent Ukrainians that are defenseless against Russia. Obviously more countries should pay attention to the devastating things Russia has done to Ukraine. My questions are why Biden isn’t doing anything and why did Russia invade Ukraine in the first place besides Ukraine thinking about joining NATO. I hope that Ukrainians stuck in Ukraine get out of the situation as soon as possible. I really hope innocent lives can be saved even if it’s dangerous. I hope Russia stops because the stupid war Putin caused many people to be scared and crying for help. I hope everything changes in the next few days. The people don’t deserve to die due to the stupid war.

    OLYMPIC – CANADA REVIEW

As you know, the Olympics are currently happening in China. You also probably know that Canada is participating in these games. In…
    1. Speed Skating- Canada’s first ever gold medal
Canada won its first gold medal! The winning team was a women’s speed skating team, made up of 3 women: Isabelle Weidemann, Ivanie Blondin, and Valerie Maltais. Canada had won against the Japanese team when Isabelle Weidemann took the lead position for the last two laps. On the last lap, a member of the opposing team – Nana Takagi – fell down. Our team took advantage of that fall and won. In this sport, Canada had also made an olympic record. No other team had speed skated all the laps in just 2 minutes and 53.44 seconds.
    2. Snowboarding – Bronze medal
A 27-year old Canadian snowboarding competer wins bronze medal in the men’s big air snowboard finals. Max Parrot had fallen in his first run, but recovered on his second jump with a score of 94. His jump was the second highest jump for that run. In his third run, he scored 76.25. His last two scores save him a seat in the podium. As for our woman competer – Laurie Blouin – fell on her first run, got a third-best score of 86.25, and fell on her third run as well, which kept her seat outside of the podium and on the eighth place.
    3. Hockey – Beats china 7 – 2
The men’s hockey team beat China 7-2 and now is moving on to the quarter finals occurring on Tuesday. China had a lot of penalty troubles this Olympic, and Canada took advantage of that. Canada scored four goals on the power play and one on the penalty shot. It now has a 3-1 record. In the quarterfinals, Canada is against Sweden. The team is trying to live the life before the Olympics in 2018, when it got a bronze, to when they had a gold streak in the games.
    4. Figure Skating – Madeline Schizas will participate in women’s singles
Nineteen-year old Madeline Schizas will participate in the figure skating finals. She was the only skater representing Canada and yet scored 60.53. This score was enough to send her to the finals. She will go against a 15-year old named Kamilla Valieva representing Russia. The final will be on Thursday and is a free skate competition.
    5. Bobsleigh – Missed the top 3.
For bobsleigh, 3 Canadian pairs compete for the two-man bobsleigh: Justin Kripps and Cam Stones, Christopher Spring and Mike Evelyn, and Taylor Austin and Jay Dearborn. Spring and Evelyn got the best place from these three pairs. 7th place. Kripps and Stones came in 10th while Austin and Dearborn came in 20th.
    6. Freestyle skiing- Made it to the finals
Canadian skier Max Moffatt will move on to the freestyle skiing finals on Wednesday. 12 people will be moving on. The top 12. Max came in 11th place. He is the only man Canadian that will be proceeding. In the women’s side, also only one Canadian made it to the finals, but she withdrew after her first run.
    7. Alpine skiing – 2 seconds behind
Marie-Michele Gagnon landed in eighth place in the women’s downhill final with a pretty impressive time of 1 minute and 33.45 seconds. She was only 2 seconds behind gold medal winner Corinne Suter of Switzerland. Another Canadian – Roni Remme was placed 24th. She crossed 3.49 seconds after Corinne Suter.
    8. Curling – Beats China but loses by Russia
Canada’s men’s team defeated China 10-8. A pretty exciting victory. Unfortunately, the excitement didn’t last long. The team lost 7-6 to the Russian team. The squad seeks a spot in the semi-finals, but only holds a record of 5-3. Canada didn’t win any medals in the Curling games.

Today I am going to type the war of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and Russia is invading Ukraine but first it is important to understand the history of Russia and its former Soviet allies because World War II the U S and Western European made an alliance called North Atlantic Treaty Organization AKA NATO a military alliance created to stop the Soviet Union’s growing. NATO people agree to Article 5 of which states that an attack on any NATO member is an attack on all members. This was enough to stop the Soviet Union from ever attacking countries who are in NATO. Starting in 1999 8 years after the Soviet Union had been taken down NATO has been getting bigger and by 2020 an additional 14 other countries to join NATO many of them once Soviet controlled countries. Ukraine land border with Russia has long not allowed to join NATO but though many of these plans were arranged for political a prosses for a system plagued Ukraine for joining NATO and the reason Vladimir Putin the president of Russia is invading Ukraine is because Vladimir Putin has the plan to reunite Ussr AKA Soviet Union and they invaded Ukraine because Putin know that Ukraine will not agree to reunite the Soviet Union.

My thoughts about Russia envisioning Ukraine in bad because first war is never good because lots of people died, and the stuff Russia is doing to Ukraine is bad and the stuff Russia is doing are setting of bombs, firing missiles to home and other places and Russia is kill insist people. The secant thing I think about Russia is that the Russian solder the victors to because that are forced to go invade Ukraine and kill people and they are getting blamed for what is happening but the bad one her is Vladimir Putin because he is the one telling to invade Ukraine. The third thing I think about is when other countries got invaded by the USA and those contraries s are Iraq, Libya, Syria, Vietnam and Afghanistan and people didn’t talk that much and didn’t care that much, and the sad thing is that those contraries where helpless and many people died. The fourth thing of what I think of is how well Ukraine is defending Russia invasion because Ukraine has a worse military then Russia. The fifth thing I’m thinking of is if world war lll is going to happened because NATO is sending 3000 troops to Poland a former member of the Soviet Union but now part of NATO because Russia mite invaded Poland to revive the Soviet Union. and the last thing I’m thinking of is I give all respect to the president of Ukraine for fight like a real Leeder and not leaving the countries and even wan NATO gave him to escape and stay in the capital of Russia and fighting for this country.

I think countries be putting more pressure on Russia to stop and not stop so I’ll star with why countries should put more pressure is because if Vladimir Putin dose successfully reviving Ussr AKA Soviet Ueno millions of people will died just like how in world war ll 20 million people died. They should put more pressure on Russia to stop them because if we don’t Ukrainian people will die for no reason and Ukraine will get taken over by Russia. The last reason why putting more pressure on Russia to stop is because if Russia take over Ukraine Russia might try to take over other countries. Putting more pressure on Russia to stop is a bad idea because Putin said any country that try to help Ukraine will face the biggest consequences. We Should not put pressure on Russia is not good because if we do Russia might send nuclear weapons on the country that helps Ukraine because Vladimir Putin has set the nuclear weapon on high alert. Putting more pressure on Russia to stop might led to world war lll because it will be a war agents NATO and communist countries and that might lead to nuclear war agents the USA vs Russia and if that does happen It will be the end of the world.

there should there be more support for Ukraine because wars are never good because a lot of people die and people dying Is not and the good thing is that there are a lot of protest of for no war Russia vs Ukraine. We should their support for Ukraine because Ukraine is trying their best to defend their country and to stop Russia from coming in Ukraine. We need to support for Ukraine because if Ukraine dose no defend of the Russia Putin just might reunite the Sovit Ueno, then he will target Poland and after that he will go for germen the millions of people will died and that will lead to would war lll.

Starting February 24th, Russian troops have begun their invasion at the borders of Ukraine. For months, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, he denied that he would invade his country’s neighbour, Ukraine. But later, he tore a peace deal and sent forces across the border to the north, east, and south of Ukraine. Putin claimed Russia could not feel “safe, develop and exist” because of what he stated as a constant threat from the modern Ukraine. Many of Putin’s arguments were false or unreasonable. He declared that his goal was to protect people from bullying and genocides he aimed for “demilitarisation and de-Nazification” of Ukraine. There have been no genocides in Ukraine, it is a fine democracy led by a Jewish president, I’m not sure what Putin finds wrong with that. It’s not the first time that Russia had invaded Ukraine. In 2014, Russia invaded and annexed Crimean Peninsula which was once part of Russia at one time as well as Ukraine during a later time. By the end of Russia’s invasion there, a total of 14000 killed. My thoughts on what have occurred so far is that I don’t think that President Putin should have decided to invaded Ukraine again and that I hope that this war will soon end. I also hope that there can be as limited as possible deaths during this war. When it was announced that President Putin had declared war on Ukraine, many people on the internet had gone wild about it. From what I have seen so far, many are supporting Ukraine on this matter as well as many are afraid that it will turn into a nuclear war. I think that Ukraine should be allowed to join NATO if they want and shouldn’t be stopped by others. So, I think that what Putin is doing to stop them from joining is just messed up. In my opinion, I think that Ukraine should get more support because they are the ones getting attacked first by Russia and who would know what the Russian president has planned next. People should also support Ukraine to have the war end faster. Also, war will always come with countless deaths, and I don’t think that that is a good thing because with death comes sadness, pain, and grief for those who had perished, and I don’t think that that would be good. Ukraine is doing its best to defend their country and stop Russia from taking over. If Russia wins in this war, then Russia will expand once again. If that is to happen, not only will Ukraine no longer exist, but Russia might fell very overpowered and attack other countries later on, if the president decides to try to claim more land for their country.

  20. jason57 says:

I am going to talk about the war in Ukraine. First, we need to know about how the war started. When the Soviet Union crashed in 1991 and got separated into other countries. But in 2014 Russia tried to get Crimea but ended up getting Crimea and Ukraine and Russia piece got broken up because of this until Russia put 10000 soldiers around Ukraine saying that we are protecting Belarus from being attacked.

So, what is the real reason Russia was sending troops to the border is because to attack Ukraine. So, the reason Russia invaded Ukraine is because Ukraine was about to join the Nato and because Ukraine was starting to make nuclear bombs and Russia did not want it. Russia did not want Ukraine to join the Nato because if Ukraine joined the Nato Russia goal was going to get destroyed because their goal was to make the Soviet Union again but if Ukraine joined the Nato Russia can’t attack Ukraine because they will be protected by the Nato. So why did Russia attack Ukraine first because the other country’s that were part of Soviet Union already joined the Nato and Russia had no choice but to stop Ukraine join the Nato and invade Ukraine to Get back Soviet Union.

So, the invasion started in 2022/2/24 at night and Russia started firing missiles to Ukraine and they launched over 160 and 137 people died and over 300 people got injured according to Ukraine government and the next day Russia sent in 10000 troops from North South, East and except for west because there is country that are not good friends with Russia. The Russians troops started to take over cities and they were going for the capital city Kyiv and Ukraine made a circle of protection and started protecting the city from getting destroyed and they were fighting for 3 days and still Russia troops never entered the city Kyiv. The Russian troops were losing so the president of Russia and the President of Ukraine tried to negotiate but it got canceled and Russia started to attack Ukraine again, but they decided to negotiate in the capital city of Belarus.

Russia Invasion-It seem that we all know about Russia invading Ukraine and we know about Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin who is a 69 year old politician and former intelligence officer and is known as president of Russia . He firstly became the president in 1999 – 2008 and later elected back on 2012 which he’s right now president of Russia and he’s the main cause of this invasion happening and the one who came up with the idea . Vladimir has been planning this invasion for sometime the invasion of Ukraine started on 24 of February 2022 and is still going at the moment and making people lose their lives and Separate families but the reasoning of Vladimir Putin doing this kind thing is because Ukraine is inalienable part of Russia history ,culture , and spiritual space, . Vladimir is just also very selfish and greedy person who wants to have Ukraine back and the good beneficial things like more land that come with Ukraine and talk bad things like Ukraine isn’t a country . He’s just wanting to have more power . And that fact that he already sends bombs and soldiers around the border and in different parts of Ukraine and already killing people just after a whole pandemic is just not right and way to early . These attacks are very harmful and people don’t have the resources to even go move to another country or either that’s very unsafe and risky . And things like these are going to kill more people that has happened shouldn’t kill more people and it should just stop .I don’t think that other countries should put more pressure on Russia because even Vladimir Putin even said that they will consequences and yet again Russia has a big military and tons of bombs and nukes in position .And that could possibly be the cause of War lll and again don’t think that should after a pandemic. I think that they should be more support for Ukraine because Most strong countries that have lots of resources are part of group called NATO this group can only help countries in the group but Ukraine is not in that group but it can give resources but just can’t help them fight .So basically Ukraine is the only who’s fighting against Russia and Russia has more soldiers ,
Equipment, and advantages . So Ukraine needs lots resources to have a chance of winning or if they lose their most likely not going be a country anymore so it’s a huge thing that they win .Olympics in China- Canada was technically diplomatically boycotting it because Justin Trudeau said it’s concerning by human rights violations carried out by the Chinese government. It is justified it is been proven by the violations that Chinese government did. I think it would impact them by being aware and careful because of this situation.Canada’s performance in the Olympic -Canada did really good in the olympic just to give a example how good they did they were ranked fourth out of 84 countries and won 26 medals .They’re many notable achievements like Marie Philip Poulin nickname captain clutch she is a Canadian hockey player who clutch a hockey game 3-2 against USA and won a gold medal she is the first female hockey player to score in four Olympic gold medal games. And which she did again this Olympic 2022 and won gold medal .Trucker protest in Ottawa- I think that it was necessary for there to be emergency order to remove protesters because you can see them blocking traffic ,overcrowding ,and disturbing . Else well as they can get injured which is not good thing .A GoFundMe website is a organization where people are funding money for the Truckers Protest it has gained over a million dollars so far. The fundraiser page was released by Tamara Lich to donate convoy’s fuel , lodging expenses, and food .Most protester are trucker which is the reason it got this much attention. They should be mandatory to have the vaccine because since they go to different places and deliver it can spread germs to them and spreading to other people or places and can get cause problems. It mostly about the virus spreading.COVID-My thoughts about other countries opening up already is just not smart First of it hasn’t been years since the virus calm down and now people just want to still risk the future just because they’re inpatient or They think that less people are dying so it’s ok to start opening things up.I truly thinks that it’s just really to early and really unsafe . The reasoning of countries opening up isn’t that good compared to people dying. And this pandemic just started in 2020 and now it’s 2022 and people think 2 years is fine but it’s not they’re the reason why people are dying. I don’t think this will be a common when it can actually kill you and symptoms of it is painful so no I don’t it will be a common cold/flu .Again I don’t think mask should be lifted up or permanent it’s just takes time like until 20 years or more and maybe it could be lifted. But yeah thank you for your time .

Look into the Russian president and his explanation for the invasion.
What are your thoughts about what has occurred ?
I think it’s so selfish that the Russian president is like this, he’s taking what he wants and making his dream come true; but he’s not looking into other peoples dreams and how they all want to live with their family and have a good life. He’s being so selfish to keep doing what he wants to do and not looking at this people to see what they want, this makes me very mad and it makes me feel like i want to kill the russian president. i’m sorry. My thoughts about what has occurred is that it needs to stop and this can’t keep going on, it hurts everyone to know that Ukraine is being bombed and Russia is trying to take over them.

Should countries be putting more pressure on Russia to stop?
Yes, countries should be putting a lot more pressure on Russia to stop invading Ukraine because they might be starting World War lll which will be worrying for everyone. Imagine being in the middle of a war, having to flee your home to somewhere that you don’t even know about. I think it’s very selfish of them to not care about any other countries but themself and how they want to be a higher power than everyone. Not only that but Russian might be teaming up with China to stop Democracy with will be a huge problem because if they stop democracy they will take over the whole world.

Should there be more support for Ukraine?
Ukraine should have much more support, that means having tons of backup; they should also be having cover for the people of Ukraine, especially for the next generation. People are hiding in the Kyiv subway using it as a bomb shelter, newborn babies from a Ukrainian hospital neonatal intensive care unit moved to a makeshift bomb shelter. This shelter is in the middle of Dnipro, this is the target for Russian missile strikes. I can imagine how hard it is for the baby’s to hear all these scary sounds not knowing what they are and all of them start to cry, if we don’t stop this all these children will die; not only will they die but their own people will as well. Ukraine needs help, im not sure how many times i have to say it but they need our support and we need to help them get through this hard time.

I choose to talk about Covid because it has been a virus worldwide for over two years, so I think it will be easier to talk.

I know that most people think that we are almost beating Covid-19, but still have people getting it over the world. Since we know that much less than 100% of the population is already vaccinated, it will be worse if we don’t matter with the problem and vaccination and open the border to other countries. In my opinion, we should wait a little more because we don´t want the virus to expand again, more people suffer from its consequences, and this will never end. I know that many people want to meet their family and friends, like me, but we need to have confidence and have sure no one has Covid.

As I said, I think it’s a little early because we don´t want this disease to continue, and continue, and continue. The measures to prevent are justified because we need to spend more time making sure this becomes controlled. So, in my opinion, it is easy to wait for the cases of Covid to go down.

In my opinion, it is already like a common cold or flu because now that we are vaccinated, we are stronger to fight against the virus. Being vaccinated doesn´t affect you anymore, or the effect is soft. Thus, it turned more like common cold and flu for me.

For me, the use of the mask depends on what place you are because if you imagine yourself in a full Skytrain without masks and breathing the same air, it should be a high transmission place. I always put my mask in this kind of place, like shopping malls, markets, buses, and all public and closed places, excepting parks because there is an open place. I don´t wear my mask when I am in the park outside the school or a sliding park, for example, because they are all open places.

I’m going to say this in the beginning: i will probably have very different opinions from you guys. Maybe because of me culture or because of how my family views things.

the boycotting against the Beijing winter olympics is, in my opinion, unreasonable. the said that china was putting the uyghurs and muslims in xinjiang at human extinction. I’m sorry, but can we looks at the numbers for a second. 25,852,345 people now living in xinjiang. 8,617,448 was their population 30 years ago. In 30 years their population increased thee times the orginal number and you call the human extinction. Also the re- education camps are there because there are terriost in xinjiang. I am not saying everyone, just a group. These people have gone around killing inoccent people. The government put them in these camp to help them realize that is wrong. Look the government is not bored and randomly sending people to these camps. China has a huge government. We aren’t doing this for no reason. Sure china is communist and doesn’t have the most agreeable government for most countries, but they aren’t stupid and no-brained like biden.

And also this is not going to help you athletes. This is something these athletes have worked for all their lives and they aren’t going to have their chance in winning their award blocked by the government’s opinions on china. Sorry you don’t like us, but that’s on you. Many canadian/ american athletes who went to the winter olympics in beijing said it was like no other they have experinced. And I get that the chinese government should be fair and equal, but there is only so much they can do to keep their country, my country, running. They have a huge population and they have to fight too.

Thank you and if you have different opinion’s, which i bet you do, this is mine.
