Senate Stormed by Protesters

Last term we spoke extensively about systematic racism and its horrendous effects. Thankfully there are social movements like Black Lives Matter that expose and fight against racism, intolerance and prejudice (as we learned from Apollo, Tamara and Tiya’s AWESOME presentation). For a moment, I want you to pause and reflect on the images that come to mind when you saw the BLM marches. They peacefully protested the loss of an innocent black man yet some media outlets presented a completely different story.

Mapping Black Lives Matter Protests Around The World | Here & Now

This was the Capitol (the US federal government building) when the BLM protesters were nearby.

Patricia Smith on Twitter: "The Capitol steps during the BLM protests.… "

Yesterday, a protest occurred. But it was starkly different than what we saw in the summer. Trump heavily encouraged his supporters to fight against the counting of the electoral votes that will eventually confirm that Joe Biden won the election. So what ended up happening yesterday afternoon? Hundreds of Trump supporters pushed through barriers and fought with officers. Some of the officers were even called ‘traitors’ because they were allowing the vote to happen, ummm… even though they were doing their job? About an hour and a half later, the rioters pushed into the Capitol building and tried to break windows and doors to get in and stop the vote from occurring. 4 demonstrators lost their life. There were evacuations and guns drawn. So let’s return back to BLM images. Please browse through accredited news sites and images to compare and contrast the BLM and yesterdays riot.

Yesterday, the Capitol building that is located in Washington D.C, United States. Was stormed at the same time of a rally hosted by the president of the U.S, Donald Trump. During the rally, Donald Trump told people to protest over the election results. People wanted to dispute the election because there was evidence that showed that the election could have been rigged to make Donald Trump (Republican) lose the election. So far, no one has really investigated this case and people are upset that the election might have been rigged. So, back to the rally. Trump told the people to protest, so they did. This protest was different though. The protesters had raided the Capitol building. The raid lasted many hours and resulted in a few deaths. During the raid, a shot was fired and hit someone, a few flashbangs were thrown, and some people were arrested. https://www.usnews.com/

So, in my opinion, I do not think the protesters were in the right. The raid was unacceptable and was very dangerous. I think the protesters should have taken their protest outside, instead of inside. I do not think the protest was Donald Trump’s fault, because he never wanted the protesters to riot in the Capitol.

There are some people who are upset, they are comparing this protest to the B.L.M protests that happened last year. People are mad because for B.L.M, police were more forceful, and apparently, police were a lot lighter on the rioters at this riot.

What I think about B.L.M vs this riot? I don’t think people were light on the protesters, as flashbangs and teargas weapons were used. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQAUGF7v2Qg
Apparently an officer was caught taking a selfie with a rioter, across many sources, the photos only had one person taking selfies. If the rioters here were treated better than the people at B.L.M, I would want a change, people have to be treated equally under the same scenario.

So, to conclude, The riot was not okay. The B.L.M protesters should be treated the same as these rioters. That is what I think.

      Sandra’s Post:

After researching these 2 protests I could conclude the differences and the similarities in both protests. The difference is that people who are fighting for BLM are fighting for their rights, safety and justice while Trump supporters that were starting a riot was plainly fighting for what they believe. This is probably why not everybody approves the action of the riot because everybody has different perspectives.

Another huge difference is how the polices handle the BLM and January 6 riot situation differently. There is actually a reason why the protesters (most were white people) in the riot were able to easily reach their destination (the U.S building) and there is significant proof. It’s the same reason: White polices would always treat the white with more patience and care while the complete opposite to the black. Last summer, when there was a protest for BLM, the white polices used tear gas, rubber bullets, and brute force against the black people even though they were protesting peacefully unlike the riot, few days’ ago. For the violent riot, polices simply arrested 57 people even though, according to the damage, everybody who participated was supposed to be sent in to jail with handcuffs but, as you can see, that was not the case. This shows how differently these two protests are.

From what I researched, there aren’t really much similarities except that both protests caused death and that they were all encouraged by something to protest. I believe the BLM protest was encouraged by George Floyd’s death which was why people wanted to reclaim his justice and fight for theirs too, in order to have for their rights, safety and justice. While, Trump supporter were obviously encouraged by Trump.

Personally, I feel like BLM is more of a convincing severe topic compared to the riot that happened a few days ago since Trump already lost the election, and the results is close to an end. Also, even though Trump has a lot of supporters, there is still a large group of people that dislike him, depending on which kind people he benefits so, there might be a lot of people that see the riot, that happened recently, complete nonsense, a very foolish action, and acted without thinking of what it might cause at the end (I kind of think so too). Proof of what I just said, is four deaths that occurred in the riot. I really pity for the deaths that occurred but, it was certainly caused by foolish actions that weren’t thought twice.

I believe everything should be blamed on Trump since he was the one that was encouraging his supporters to break into the barrier in order to stop the electoral votes. Also, as the current president, he failed at protecting his citizen (plus, it’s his own supporters) and controlling system (well, he let it go out of control).

For the BLM protest, I’m actually glad they are standing up for themselves but, the only concern I have is what the polices might do to them if they do protest. As for the senate in Washington, I don’t get why Trump is still not giving up on the fact he lost the election but, instead to encourage his supporters to break into the barriers of the U.S building which, I feel like would more likely state the fact he lost the election. Like what good does it do for his reputation? I also don’t understand what motivates Trump supporters to risk their lives to fight with police officers and barge into doors and break windows in order to stop the counting of the electoral votes because they could get arrested or killed because of doing so and I feel like it won’t change the fact that Biden won. Plus, doesn’t it violate the law?

While researching, I realize how much difference racism could cause and how unfair it is to just criticize people by their skin colors. I also realize how weird some people’s minds work and how strong determination is, for some people. I would really advice people to think twice before doing something and if the action would benefit you or not, in order to prevent causes like the riot on Wednesday.

    • mary5 says:

First off, can we just take a look at what the Black Lives Matter protesters were doing compared to what the trump supporters were doing?

The BLM protesters were only peacefully protesting about how it’s ridiculously wrong to take the life of an a innocent black man, and how black lives matter too. Yet, the media still decides to twist the story to make the peaceful protesters look bad. All they were doing was standing outside the capitol holding up signs, saying BLM matters with a speaker, holding their fists up, and etc. Like, how is that violent in any way? I can tell that some people just don’t understand that there’s such things as racism that cause things like this to happen.

Now let’s look at what the trump supporters did at the senate in Washington. Hundreds of Trump supporters stormed in the capitol, while the senate was happening. They even decided to fight with the officers that were just doing what they were supposed to be doing, which is guarding the capitol. These riots vandalized Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, smashed windows, and looted art. They also partly took control of the Senate chamber, where they literally took turns posing for pictures where Mr. Pence had been presiding. A woman demonstrator was shot and killed during this by a capitol police, and 4 demonstrators lost their lives in total.

The thing is, Trump actually encouraged and supported these demonstrators to fight against the counting of the electoral votes that’s going to confirm Joe Biden’s victory, which is once again, ridiculous. Trump has spent months of telling his supporters that the election was stolen, which is a false claim.

Now that we know what happened, let’s talk about the differences between the two protests.

For the BLM protest, we can see that they were not doing anything violent, and they were only fighting against racism. The BLM protesters were doing what a normal protester would do. For example, holding signs, marching, etc. They were protesting for something that they could actually help change, which is very reasonable. They know that there are too much deaths caused by racism, so they want to help change that. For example, George Floyd is one of the many deaths that was caused by racism once again.

For the Senate in Washington, we can CLEARLY see that the trump supporters (riots) were being extremely violent. They were clearly not doing what a normal protester would do. Normal protesters don’t climb the wall of the capitol building, fight with the capitol officers, smash windows, etc. I also honestly don’t know why these people would protest even though it’s not their job to decide who the president is, the voting results are supposed to decide. (What do they not understand-)

In the end, I think there’s only 2 similarity. The first thing is that they both to protested for what they wanted. The second thing would be that they were all protesters.

  2. kenrich1 says:

I think that the similarities are that the black lives matter may be peaceful but it did have a couple of riots. While this may have more these both have some riots. Which they got arrested. Another similarity is that they both had a lot of protest. Only this time the people in Black lives matter were calm and nice people and didn’t cause a ton of chaos. But this time the people weren’t nice people but rather ignorant BIT-es. The next similarity is more complicated but they both did not like the law enforcement. As for both they blocked the protesters from doing stuff for obvious reasons. As they caused a ton of chaos. That is all I can really think of for the similarities now for the differences. First off the BLM protest’’s had megaphones this one however did not because this was just for Donald J Trump to speak so it makes sense about voter fraud. My thoughts on this interesting thing are that this one is actually unacceptable. This was flat out a terrorist attack against America’s democracy so as you can accept literally no one was happy whatsoever. This was obviously chaotic and should not have happened and if you support this (Sry Vincent (not really) ) Just no. Anyway more differences Another thing is that the Black lives matter didn’t protest in government area but rather the streets, Ok fine a lie but they didn’t storm that place The Trump supporters however but uhhh it didn’t go well. It also sparked a ton of outrage on the internet and got trump’s account locked and some stuff terminated. After the count was certified and this cause also caused the capital in lockdown Donald J trump had no choice but to concede. Back to my thoughts I am happy that Trump conceded but at this point just arrest him this is flat out unacceptable and he needs to stop. Oh and 4 people died which I knew this was gonna happen cuz come on. Honestly this is a terrorist attack and needs to be stopped. So this should not have happened and needs to just give up and Trump probably will go to jail. Alright so what did we learn? Well this was a terrorist attack and Black lives matter protests are sorta the same. And Biden is officially the president.

I think that the, well im going to call it a riot because I don’t have any other name for this. So I think that the similarities between the riot and the Black Lives Matter situation is pretty similar, because of the fact that people don’t want things to happen and people are protesting in the streets and even the supreme court, I think its called. And so with all that matter if you think of it these two events happened during the time spam of when Donald J Trump was president. And though im not saying its his fault for this because slavery was a thing before he was even born. And the protests happened during his time. And I think that all of the riots and stuff doing with the current events should just come to a complete stop. And even though every person in the whole entire world has different opinions, I think this time around a lot of people have the same opinion about the black lives matter thing. And my opinion on this movement is that the president should actually listen to the people’s opinion and actually consider it and try to do something about it. And not just looking at it and saying ok, but actually do something about the situation. And it got so bad that people were climbing over walls trying to get people to hear them. And it got so out of hand that for some reason they had to put soldiers in front of the supreme court. But the situation was so bad that again people were climbing the walls knowing that there were soldiers that could potentially shoot them and kill them. But they were willing to risk their lives and try to end the situation. And believe it or not four people died risking their lives. But the situation did not end just like that , like usual. And its not only that though, the black lives matter situation was a thing because of the situation that black people were getting beat-up and stuff like that. Basically bullying but includes death sometimes. And im not trying to be racist or anything but, you know the fact that white people were the ones doing bad to the black people. Well lots of white people were in the protests. So that just goes to show that people can be very racist sometimes. And my conclusion is that situation has gone out of hand, and the people that practically control the citizens have to listen up more. BY: Alan. J!

  4. april7 says:

In my opinion, I feel like the protest involving Trump supporters was completely unnecessary. Before a certain person in our class comes for me, hear me out. The BLM protests are happening because people of colour (specifically black lives) are getting hurt and harassed because of something they were born with. Something they can’t control, and they aren’t even allowed to talk openly about their abuse without being threatened. Whereas with the riot that happened last Wednesday, the Trump supporters weren’t being silenced. They could have very well gone on social media to openly talk about how much they disagreed with the votes, yet they decided to be dramatic and perform a completely unnecessary riot that claimed the lives of 4 people. Honestly, I feel like the protest was just immature and irresponsible. Especially during a time where we have a pandemic going on, and I realize that other protests are happening too, but these Trump supporters can talk trash about Biden on the internet and spread their opinions while others can’t. I feel like they could have just used the internet instead of storming the Capitol building and turning into Spiderman.

With the differences and similarities between the two protests there’s definitely more differences than similarities. I’m going to start with the similarities because there’s a lot more I would like to write about on the differences. Some of the only similarities between the two protests is that they were both protesting for something they both feel passionate about. There were also police present at both protests. However here is when the differences start. In the BLM protests, the police take their roles very seriously as if the BLM protesters are going to start killing someone even though they protest very peacefully. In the Trump supporter protest though, the police acted like it was no big deal and they treated it like it was very safe even when the Trump supporters started climbing the walls and attempting to break doors and windows. Some of the police had the audacity to take selfies with the supporters. In the BLM protests, there was also a lot more deaths that shouldn’t have happened.

Overall, I feel like the Trump protest was looked at by the police as peaceful and the BLM protests were looked at as dangerous even though it was actually the opposite. Personally, the BLM protests seems a lot more important to me than the Trump supporters protest.

  5. kadin2 says:

Well, I think they are not the same because its two different stuff but I also think that it’s Mr. Trump’s wrong doing and that the police are taking it very seriously and are hurting people while this is happening and the riots are called in if something is very bad but I think the Black Lives Matter movement is a big part of our world but protests not all ways goes bad like hurting people breaking windows I think it is bad the U.S is doing this because we are neighbors of them and if they never change than the U.S well get bad and people will start to move out of the U.S but on the news were I watched with my parents and it was talking about how people were breaking in the white house which I think it’s their fault and I heard that a woman got shot in the neck and she said she was ok but she later died (I got that from the internet ) and I think the protests should end ( my opinion ) why because I think it helping the people that support it but its causing fights with the police and the police might call in the riots and people will get shot but I heard that after they broke the windows the cops told them to stop and the people who stormed in got pulled out of the white house by the people storming the white house and side by side from the capitol storm and Black Lives Matter movement well they are not the same but the same person and one cop was taking a self the and the BLM protests take guns with them and they want to shoot but they don’t want to but that is my thinking on this thanks for looking at this.

  6. drew4 says:

The big differences about the white polices and the black polices, are white people polices just let all the people climbed, the white wall. And the black people police carry a gun and wear their suit as a soldier. The similarities are all the people go in the building to protest about the Black Lives Matter. My thought about the BLM and senate in Washington protest is BLM protest is more un appropriate. Because BLM protest police dint care about the people who climb the wall. My thought about the protest in Washington is they are more prepared than the other soldier in other countries. I think about the senate saying in the video is not good to climb in the capital building. It is not good to climb because they might go into jail. And he just said that because he might just concern about our behavior in that protest video. My reaction about all things were doing is shock and feel good because I am shock about the climbing the walls and going inside the capital. I feel good because I saw in the news that trump, is not going to be president anymore. I am happy because of trump going down. Things I notice between the two demonstrations is both countries go inside their own capital’s. And it is not good to go inside the capitals by not telling the owner or someone who is supposed to tell who fine go inside. And I think about the police in other countries is wrong because they just left the people go climb the wall and did not even stop them. And the soldier in other countries is fine because they are there to stop the people go inside the capital. For the video that people in Washington is fine too because I think he just telling the other people to not go inside the capital with no permission to go inside or broke the capital.

  7. jessica62 says:

In both of the protests people are fighting for what they believe in. However the ways the two teams spread their message was different. While BLM’s protests were nonviolent and safe, the trump supporter were violent. If you look at the second photo about the protest that happened on Wednesday at the Senate in Washington, you can see not many of the protesters weren’t wearing masks. The trump supporters were encouraged by trump to protest, while trump disagreed with the BLM ✊🏿 protests.
( I will NOT sound very neutral in the next paragraph, but i do not mean to effect Vincent in anyway.)
I think the trump supporters are out of their mind. Honestly I’m not surprised people died in the protest. They decided to storm into a government building that was obviously off limits for them. Trump is out of his mind. He’s the one going “ together we will make America great again” and he lets things like that happen. I think maybe the trump supporters should be made to list off a hundred reasons each why they did some so ridiculous. Maybe if they protest peacefully some people will listen. I not saying you can’t support trump, but can trump supporters watch it a bet. Okay, maybe you don’t care if you die because of COVID, but others might care. I know I don’t want to die at the age of 11 because of this stupid virus. I believe that BLM is going to make a change because 1. They are protesting peacefully. 2. Children are learning about it in school and getting a good picture of the movement. 3. People are fighting for the right they deserve. 4. They movement is there to turn the world in they right way. I think the voices that speak for not just one person will be encouraged by the world more. At least 55% of American support BLM and 57% of American think trump to be removed as the 25th Amendment. What can say, but BLACK LIVES MATTER ✊🏿 ✊🏾 ✊🏽

  8. maya33 says:

I don’t know how to really start this, so let’s get straight to the point. We were assigned to be writing about a blog on how the senate riot and BLM protests have any similarities and/or differences. This riot was started from Trump supporters and Trump himself. Although it’s ok to listen to others opinion and talk about your own, it Is not ok to commit these destructive opinions. The multiple people were being very reckless and childish just because something didn’t go your way. I am also pointing this out to Trump too. You cannot just tell your supporters to go and tell them to do something that is illegal and extremely dangerous thing to do just because you said so or that you just didn’t win. I thought everyone would leave being a childish little imp when they were in grade 4. It’s just so triggering when you find out that a grown man is being such a sore looser about an election that he tells not him, but his supporters to do something dumb. It’s great to follow your peers and your opinion on people, just please think about what you are going to follow them by. Now that you think of it all these people were all grown butt people. Anyways I think I kind of focused on one thing for a bit to long so I’m going to move onto another part of this riot. The people apart of the riot were calling the police so called ‘traitors. And Ms. Panesar also brings out a good point in the blog. that’s their hecking job. Yeah, I get it. The reason why a lot of these BLM protests have been rising again was because a police officer did kill Gorge Floyd. And I get it. It’s extremely frustrating and disappointing to find these things out. But these police were doing there job properly. You can’t just blame them for not joining their side and letting you get in. you were already planning to break the property already anyways. Plus, I also understand that the government can be sucky in both fictional and real life. But changing the votes are ILLIGAL and if they would’ve done it anyways, they wouldn’t be able to anyways. And yes, governments like Japan, Russia and China do have sketchy stuff like having secret police. But not our government. Anyways, if I keep on talking about this, it’s probably going to take a longer time and I’m using my sister’s computer right now so now I’m now going to talk about the BLM protests. To already start it off with the name. the reason why it’s called a BLM protest is well because it is. A protest is just strongly talking about their opinion either alone or with people. And in the senate riot, well it’s called a riot as we already know. Riots are creating a ruckus and annoyance with whatever you are doing or saying. In this senate riot, you can tell that it’s mainly a violent and verbal riot. As you can already tell, for BLM, they only use the word protest in it because they aren’t committing any violent behaviours. In BLM, they express how they want peace and understanding to all people. So, it’s likely that they wouldn’t of have been committing any violence during their protest. And the BLM protests are usually only stopped by police because they are probably on property they shouldn’t be on. But the senate riot protesters were being total babies about literally that wouldn’t go their ways. Mainly I’ve been targeting the senate riot protesters and mainly been comparing how much better the BLM protest is better than the senate rioters. But this is just my opinion and I will support you with your honesty and opinion. At least with out you are committing anything like a destructive opinion :D.

  9. mattias12 says:

From what I see and learned, the BLM protests were peaceful protests and they were trying to get their voices heard. Then there is the protest where there were hundreds (If not thousands) of Trump supporters fighting to stop the vote counting from happening. From my perspective, I see the BLM protest as a peaceful protest whereas the rioters were violent and disruptive. The guards were doing their job when the BLM protests were nearby. But… when the rioters protested some , not all (can’t blame all the guards for something when only some people did it!) where… Let’s just say Off Task like taking selfies pictures etc. I personally think that the protest to stop Joe Biden being confirmed as the president of the U.S.A.

  10. vadym1 says:

I think that the way the BLM protests and the protest against counting the votes in order to declare the winner of the elections were unfair due to multiple reasons. First, the police were bias towards the protest in the senate. They did not use any forms of tear gas or display any hate towards them. The police who reacted to the protest against counting the votes though were called “traitors” even though they were just doing their job. The BLM protest was treated very differently. They used tear gas and all sorts of racial slurs to display their dislike for the movement. Most people got severely injured and at least 19 people even died! And notice the difference in between the way the police reacted to the BLM protest. When there was a peaceful nearby protest, there was an entire army of cops sent out to stand outside the capitol. Also notice how they just peacefully protested harming nobody and following all the COVID-19 safety precautions, they were all wearing masks and social distancing. But when the protesters barged into the senate and killed 4 innocent people, and that the police did nothing about it was what made them really attract loads of attention. Also, the BLM protesters always peacefully protested, and the police did everything to stop them. And as president of the USA, Trump tricked his supporters into barging into the senate and do everything in their power to stop the vote from happening. And the police were on Trump’s side so not much use from them. Trump could have stopped the vote from happening himself, and no one would have been harmed. He might have been arrested for that. But getting other people involved into that was just when he had crossed the line. Overall, I think that the way the police reacted to Trump’s supporters violently barging into the senate and the peaceful BLM protesters was very unfair and should’ve been very different from what it was.

  11. tiya1 says:

Hello! Today I will be talking about the recent protest that was started by Trump supporters. So as you probably know Biden won, but of course, Trump won’t accept defeat and encouraged his supporters to protest and riot.
So going into some of the details of the recent protests that are happening because Trump is basically being a sore loser and will not let go of his presidency. Trump told his supporters to not let the electoral votes be counted again which would confirm Bidens win. His supporters are always at his beck and call so they stormed into the senate and were very violent which came to the point of 5 people dying. Police officers are meant to defend people. Right? To do what’s right? But NO they were taking photos and selfies with the rioters and were basically encouraging them to continue.
Now about the Black Lives Matter protests. The black lives matter protests were peaceful. Period. People were fighting for what was right, most of the protests were not violent and they were plainly fighting for justice for black people’s rights and especially for George Floyd, an innocent man who was killed on March 25th, 2020. They were fighting for basic rights everyone should have and to be treated equally with everyone, and how did police officers react to that, they used tear gas, shot people, arrested, bombed, and did everything they could to stop the protests. Tear gas by the way was banned so they also broke the law. Trump also phrased that, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.” Which meant if protestors became violent and started looting the police would start killing. Of course, it is horrible to steal and be violent, that’s no solution for justice. BUT what about trump telling his supporters to BREAK IN the freakin capitol. 5 deaths happened because trump encouraged his supporters to stop the final counting of the electoral votes. It is not AT ALL fair that, that his phrase does not apply to his supporters.
Not to mention that the Black Lives Matter protests actually had organized the protests because of someone dying and they wanted justice. They wanted their voices to be heard, noticed, and not ignored because of their color. The Black Lives Matter protest actually had a good cause and they were doing something right.
In my opinion, overall these protests were VERY different from each other. One was beneficial, peaceful, and just plain old good, while the other was just wrong and stupid. You guys can piece together which ones which. In conclusion, I do NOT agree with what happened and how Trump handled the situation. It was completely barbaric.
I hope you enjoyed reading it! 🙂

  12. gordon9 says:

There are lots of differences between the BLM movement and the capitol storm, but there are also similarities. One of the few similarities are that there were deaths. There were way more deaths in the BLM movement which is very unfortunate. Another similarity is that there are lots of people in these protests. One of the many differences between these two protests are that the BLM protester is trying to be calm. Since the police is using a violent way to try to stop them while in the capitol storm some of the guards where literality taking selfies with the protesters and some even let the rioter come in to the area. Another difference is that in the BLM movement they were trying to get there rights back while the capitol storm they were fighting how the election is rigged and Donald trump should be the president. The police and guards think that the BLM movement are going to do more damage than the rioter. Another difference is that the BLM protesters are wearing mask yet there were very few people that had masks. A lot of the police and guards were probably expecting something like this because of the social media. Another difference is that in the capitol storm the rioters were arrested long after the storm. Meanwhile the BLM protester would of got arrested once the police could get, there hand on them.

The similar between the Black Lives Demonstrations and the Senate in Washington is, lots of citizen are doing Demonstrations. The difference between Black Lives Demonstrations and the Senate in Washington is, the Black Lives Demonstrations was walking around the town and saying there opinions, but the Senate in Washingtons white citizens was breaking White House, doors or windows and going inside of White House stealing stuff and they still didn’t get arrest (but some day maybe they will be arrest). What I thought about this two Demonstrations are, lots of people are not thinking about same things (but I don’t recognize why did Trump once won in the vote and why is there a people that supports Trump) because I don’t recognize why did this. I notice about this two Demonstrations are, the white demonstration are riot a bad riot, because there were like before I said breaking White House’s windows or doors and stealing stuffs this is saying like to black people that “we are white so we can do whatever we want to do” but if the black citizens did same things as this they will be all get killed by white police and this is not fair!

  14. kareena5 says:

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests were mostly peaceful when compared to the US Capitol riots.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump took a different tone at the US Capitol riots than the BLM protests. Trump called the peaceful BLM protesters, who was protesting for racial justice “thugs,” “agitators” and “looters.” He also tweeted, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.” He threatened protesters outside the White House with “vicious dogs” and “ominous weapons.”

However, he encouraged the rioters, where prior to the mob storming the Capitol to he told the rally of his supporters to “fight like hell.”

He also said to the rioters “We love you. You’re very special … but you have to go home.”

At the BLM protests, there were images of rows of army and police officers securing access to the White House. This compared with surprisingly few police in place for the riots.

At the riots, police officials were seen taking selfies with the rioters and calmly attempting to move the trespassers.

Rioters who were interviewed said that the “gates were opened for them” and it was pictured where rioters were climbing walls entering the Capitol with no restraint or opposition from police officers.

No tear gas appeared to be used, non-violent responses appeared to be used to ward off these rioters, compared with tear gas, tasers, stun guns and vicious dogs used in BLM protests.

Rioters shoved police officers, spraying chemical irritants and hitting them with lead pipes. Where police officers had flash bangs and pepper spray to ward off the crowd.

Confederate flags were waved and worn inside the capitol, sign of the white supremacists’ movements, violence and slavery. This flag has never been flown in the Capitol, and not seen since World War II and 1950s.

“No one can tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesters yesterday, they would have been treated very, very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol,” President Elect -Biden said. “We all know that’s true. And it’s unacceptable. Totally unacceptable.

As you know there was a trump protest a few days ago, they stormed the senate, and many people were injured and 5 were even killed. It was a very violent protest and can even be considered a riot, however, the police officers on duty at that time did not act on it. In stark contrast to what they did at the peaceful BLM protests, at the BLM protests the police used rubber bullets and tear gas which is not even allowed. The BLM protesters were not violent, but these trump protesters were extremely violent and yet the police did nothing, and one even took a selfie with them. Because of this 5 people were killed, one was a police officer, one an air force veteran and 3 bystanders. During the Black Lives Matter march’s some officers used physical force and pushed the protesters to the ground, some officers mocked them or insulted them as well, in the Trump protest, some officers even supported the protesters. Now let’s talk about Donald Trump’s responses to this. Trump’s response to the protest about George Floyd was that and I quote, “these “thugs” (aka the BLM protesters) are dishonouring the memory of George Floyd” he also said and once again I quote, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.” He posted this on his Twitter on May 29th, 2020. Then, when the trump protest took place, Trump responded with a tweet on January 8th, 2021 saying and I quote, “the 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!” What the heck, they literally stormed the senate!! What is wrong with you? Not to mention what happened to the whole about shooting when the looting starts?? Does that not apply to your supporters, because they broke into the capitol! I think by what I’ve written above it’s clear to see that I do not approve of the Trump protest whatsoever and I am very much against it, even if there was fraud voting which was the reason why they organized the protest, this was not the way to go. Unlike the protests the BLM hosted this one had the intention to harm; many white supremacists were also there and as you know they are quite violent in their protests. BLM’s protests’ only intentions are to allow the voices that have been suppressed to be heard. Overall, the protests were very different and the way they were received by the public and by the president is just awful, one was wrongly judged by the media to have it twisted into something bad while the other was seen as something “heroic” when it was obviously not. I’m not saying that there aren’t people that think the same way as I do, there are quite a lot of people who do, but I’m trying to focus on the fact that people are so blinded that they don’t see the racism right in front of their eyes. The Trump protesters were mainly white and claimed to be discriminated against, I’m not saying that they weren’t, but it was not because you were white, there are people getting killed for being black, you are privileged because of the white skin you were born with. Do not act as if you have it worse somehow because you are white when you do not know half the things people with different ethnicities go through each day for being who they are.

The 2 protest that happened this year the BLM protest and the Senate protest were very different because in the BLM protest the police and army were armed while in the Senate protest the police and army were taking pictures and the reason why the people were able to get into the capitol was because a POLICE officer let them all in opening up the gates this is a huge difference as in the BLM protest no police men (or women) supported it by jumping in. The 2 protests were also different in words as the BLM did what they wanted, stood up for what they thought was good while in the Senate protest the people did what 1 person said. THIS WAS HIERARCHY everyone obeyed what trump said as he was the president.

They were a little bit the same as both were protesting and both took precaution by sending police to the scene. The police in the BLM protest used tear gas and violence while the Senate had people climbing walls just to get in and support trump.this is a huge difference as this was a violent protest. While the BLM protest was a marching protest as everyone either held a sign or stood and said what they supported. The police were so much different as some in the senate didn’t do anything and instead just took pictures with the protesters, tried to protect the capitol, or just didn’t do anything. Adding on to the pictures, people protesting also took pictures of others either smashing windows or doing anything.

You can say this was all Trump’s fault because he encouraged his people to cause the ruckus but this wouldn’t be the case as EVERYONE can do what they want. If you look at the images of these or videos you can see people literally climbing walls smashing windows and didn’t even try to use their voice. Trump’s actions show that the hierarchy is supreme as if Trump wasn’t president no one would have listened to him.For both i can say that they all stood clearly what they wanted as on Jan 6 people were on the steps of the capitol. Some used pepper spray and tear gas. People say they can see them wiping away their tears which is amazing they stood that long enduring all the pain to support what they wanted to.

i aint no gud at doing these things i cant use brain brain small iq

I did see some similarities between the BLM potests and the Senate in Washington. Obviously they are both protests except the Senate in Washington is a little more agressive in my oppinion just look at the images at the top of the blog. Both protests are sill kind of similar and different in many ways but first lets tal about the similarities. Both protests are against America ( kind of against the US). Now lets move on to the differences. The BLM porstests are actually peacefull really surprising. The BLM protesters don’t really raid places unlike the other prostest. The Senate in Washington however is not so peacefull because the protesters bring riots and climb walls like crazy. Overall my thoughts and reactions are the BLM prostest is better in many ways: 1. its peacefull 2. not many raiding places 3.no riots in any of the protests of BLM 4. they don’t use dangerous things like weapons for example 5. the protests are just marches. Thats all of my thoughts.

Ahh, why, why?! As you mentioned in the post, i did a PowerPoint project on BLM with Tiya and Tamara. We showed you what was going on in the movement and how it started, and as you guys could tell, I was and still am very passionate about the movement. It hurts to see how the US handles the trump “protests” compared to how they deal with the Black Lives Matter protests. I’ll be explaining all my thoughts and views on this blog post topic, so I hope you enjoy.

Black Lives Matter is a movement to rid the world of its racism towards black people and to stop police brutality. It’s a very important topic that I think we should know about and have our own point of view on it. There are millions and millions of people supporting the movement and that want it to succeed, me being one them. I would hate to see the movement being discriminated- oh, what’s that? There is a movement for vote fraud that trump highly encouraged? Well would you look at that.

Yes, Donald J. Trump has highly encouraged republicans to protest vote fraud against Joe Biden and the US senate. Imagine being this much of a clown. Donald Trump thinks that Biden stole votes, and that the election was unfair and rigged. I feel like if the 2020 US election was rigged, it would have been trump, the person that hired Russian hackers to rig the 2016 election against democratic representative Hilary Clinton.

The way the president reacted to the Black Lives Matter protests compared to how he dealt with his own is just sad. I also saw how some of the police officers that were in the US Capitol that day, abandoned their post and join the rioters. The police officers also didn’t just crush people and put them in a forbidden police chokehold, does that remind you of anyone? Yes, actually many people in the Black Lives Matter protests and riots have been shot with rubber bullets, pepper sprayed, tear gassed, and sometimes even run over. There are even pictures of men and women that participated in the trump riots where they are sitting in famous senator’s seats.

So, in conclusion I think this was just an unbelievable incident that was scary and unpredictable. I do however think the police definitely should have dealt with it in a more serious matter like they do in BLM riots. The people that participated in the trump riots are absolutely insane, and I’m sorry Vincent, but it’s true. And the fact that trump just sat there sitting on his fat orange a** is just awful. There are a ton of thing that happened in the trump riots that I honestly don’t have time for, since I was working on other homework all day yesterday, so I did have to finish this post/essay right before school so it wasn’t late. I hope you enjoyed my point of view on this topic.

They asked for human rights and they got shot with rubber bullets, while others broke the law braking into a building that was just about to finalize Joe Biden becoming president. And if I need to remind you he won the spot as a leader of a country and they raided it and photos and selfies were taken with them. That doesn’t seem vary fair to me, things like this is what people call and what is vary much true it is white privilege and this is a fantastic mind-blowing example of it. And I know that not many people would agree with me but it was mostly trump that brought these people to come up with such a insane idea, he did say that people should raid the build to go against them very FAIR election. He said it was ok so the people followed. Vincent I am not trying to say that you should not support him but he is the main problem here if your reading this please don’t kill me like how you “kill” I Cheng. And I know and I hope that everyone knows that if one black person came even close to that building that they would have been killed right there and then and we all know it. When the BLM “riots” happened they were killed and arrested. Breonna was killed just because her boyfriend had a licenced gun. Shot dead right then and there. But hundreds of white men and women are raiding a capital building and they are being let go. And the one thing that I don’t get about rasism is that you can’t control the colour of your skin but you can control shooting and discrimination and killing. As said before I 100 percent know that trump is trying everything he can to mo get over thrown and he is going as far as freeing his “fans” to do what he says because even the worst people have followers and the worst of the worst make sure that they do as they are told so the person with the following makes sure that they get what they want when they want.

The different about the white people that are protesting then the black people protesting is that the white do it aggressing like breaking stuff swearing a lot climbing., so they are very rough. The black people just hold signs or doing stuff that that will help by not hurting people. The care of white people and black people are deferent like if there or very hurt most likely they will help the white people more than the black people, because they are only like the white people more, so they won’t get that much medical help, but it wrong, so they need to change that to make the world better. The white people get better education maybe they think they are a better person they are smarter, but that is not true everyone one can be good at it not only white people can be good. The white people can get good jobs and good treatment while they are doing their jobs, but the black get bad treatment, because there are black, but that is wrong, because you can’t treat people that way, because of their skin color. When the black people are doing something, they will get more support, but black people should get the equal support, so it is even. Maybe white people stare at them, because they are black, or hey look different, or they can’t have this or go there, but that is not right, because any kind of people can do what every they what, and no one will say anything about it.

I feel like there is a significant difference between how the BLM protests and how these Trump supporters were treated. First, BLM protests are anti-violence protests. This means that they try to have no violence when protesting, but there were 4 people killed and many people injured when the Capitol was stormed by these Trump protesters. They also broke many things inside of the Capitol building. While the BLM protesters were near the Capitol, there were national guard troops guarding the Capitol to stop these protesters. However, when the pro-Trump supporters were entering the Capitol, a police officer was taking a selfie with them. I do not think this is fair, as the BLM protests are to fight for equality and to stop discriminating people who are “black.” However, these people who do not want Biden to become president are harming and injuring people even though Biden won the election. What makes this worse is that Trump was supporting these people and didn’t even care that 4 people were killed due to them. The BLM protesters have police officers fire rubber bullets and use tear gas to stop the protest, yet they don’t even kill anyone or are injuring people. Is protesting for equality really a crime? The sad thing is that Trump organized this whole protest. He probably did this knowing that people were going to die or be injured, too. He got banned on a lot of social media apps for supporting this riot too, rightfully so. I really think that the way that the Capitol was stormed by these Trump supporters should have been responded to in either the same way as the BLM protests, or vice versa.

I have seen some similarities between Black Lives Matter and the Senate in Washington. First, I saw them holding signs about Biden getting votes that he should of not. Also I don’t think it was there fault also I think it was trumps fault he told his supporters to try to take over the senate in Washington. I saw the people taking over the area and the army couldn’t do anything to help they didn’t want to shoot the people. Now the part about similarities between Black Lives Matter and the Senate in Washington’s both where trying to spread the message with signs and their voice but the differences are that the Black Lives Matter protest went on for more then one day they are still going on till this day. Also, they are also all being friendly, but Trumps idea wasn’t friendly at all his supporters where getting hurt well at least the ones that stormed in. Also I didn’t like that they were violent while storming and the army couldn’t do anything because there was to many people. I saw a video about a man only one man defending the entrance by himself while everyone was breaking in. It went viral and everyone felt bad for the man that was by himself you could see that he was scared for his life. It was kind of scary to think about that if this continues there might be a civil war in America. It was on the news everywhere I saw it on my phone really think Trump is acting like a child because he lost, and he thinks he didn’t. Also his fans are acting like child’s also because they do whatever trump says like even if trump said move to Canada. I don’t like how the rioters in this case were treated nicely but in BLM they got hurt while being peaceful and even got shot with a rubber bullets and tear gas while doing nothing wrong. They let the trump rioters get in easily but for the BLM protest they got hurt covered in blood crying and even a kid got shot I don’t think it was fair that BLM supports got treated so much worse than a riot. I don’t think it was fair that they got treated worse for a peaceful riot.

I think that the Trump protest and BLM protest are both  very different because for the BLM one, there were about 100 of military police standing right in front of the capitol when the BLM  protesters went nearby it. But for the Trump protest, the capitol was empty and the police inside not even like the military they were more like secure to my thought, and some of them took selfie with the protesters. The other difference is the trump protesters were destroying windows and doors and messing things at the capitol like savages. The BLM were just walking down the street calmly wearing their masks. I feel that people are so racist to different colored people and I hate it because there were so many differences. Again the thing is that, people doing protests just for Mr. Donald to be the only president, is just the dumbest ever because Mr. Joseph won fair-and-square, and when they post out stupid video like this: (sorry his twitter is suspended so can’t get video )the video was about fake cheating-ish and Mr. donald is very racist to black people . When the BLM protesters protested many of them died because they were and Mr. Donald hates black, so I just don’t get how it is different with color skin. This is an example of racism on colored skin, pretend you racist to black people, since animals have different skin that means you’re racist to animals, so that’s how it is. I’m late

    BLOG POST

If you do not know what happened there was another protest in Washington. DC but this one was different from the others. We all know about the election Biden vs Trump, right? Well Biden won and the Trump supporters are not taking this very well, they decided to raid/ protest the white house, for example, they fought with police officers and broke down barriers you know stuff like that. There is no number estimated of how many people who were there, but they know that there were more than 1000 Trump supporters in that protest and even 5 people died from this and Trump didn’t even care one bit. Honestly, this is ridiculous how these protests are getting to this point even though some of these protests do have good reasons it’s terrible that people are dying, and these people were particularly important one of them was a police officer who was trying to push back the protesters and got collapsed, the other was a military vet who was shot, and the other 3 died from medical emergencies. As a Muslim, I never have personally liked Trump he was always racist towards Muslims and Mexicans and there’s even a video of him saying that he doesn’t want Muslims coming into America and am like “well too late for that.”

I have so many cousins who live in California who are Muslim so jokes on you Trump and there are over 3.45 million Muslims in the U.S.A right now. The protester’s goal in this riot were trying to prove that the election was rigged and allow Trump to be president even though we all know that Biden won fair and square but they will do anything to make this monster become president again, but Trump supporters don’t think so. If you don’t know about BLM (Black lives matter) and you live under a rock BLM is a social movement about saving black lives and it was always a movement, but it started getting more popular after George Floyd’s death from police brutality. There were also some BLM protests happening right outside the white house during the Washington DC riot and there were even some arrests made during this. The worst part about this well more like people dying but anyway Trump encouraged his followers to do this protest and this just proves even further what a piece of **** he is but that’s it so byee sis.
