Term 1 Overview
Here’s what we will be focusing on this term:
LA – reading short stories and articles (fiction/non-fiction) and making connections and predictions, journal writing with a focus on using a variety of sentences and paragraphs, Words Their Way spelling program, using proper grammar, and punctuation
Math – Number Patterns, Place Value, Adding/Subtracting, Multiplying and Division equations, word problems
Science – Solutions and Solubility/Experiments, Habitats and Sustainability
Socials – Canada/ Natural Resources/ Indigenous groups
Art – exploring elements of design such as line and colour, Indigenous art
P.E. (in gym) – ball skills, volleyball, basketball, group games
P.H.E. (Physical Health Education – in class) – healthy relationships, personal choices and social and environmental factors that influence our health and well-being
French – alphabet, gender and number, common, high-frequency vocabulary and sentence structures for communicating meaning: common questions, greetings and instructions
A.D.S.T. (Applied Design, Skills and Technology) – in all 3 terms students will have an hour a week to do “hands on” learning where they design and build things
