If you are looking for some fun outdoor winter activities to do over the break below are a few options
Heritage Christmas: Experience the old-fashioned magic of Christmas at Heritage Christmas at the Burnaby Village Museum. Stroll through the 1920’s village and enjoy spectacular lights, vintage-themed displays and historical exhibits. Admission is free.
Bear Creek Park Lights: Enjoy a free, family-friendly evening festival in Surrey. Bear Creek Park is festooned with holiday lights and Christmas instillations. Reimagined to bring nature to the forefront, this year’s event features an illuminated nature trail with stunning light displays to enhance the natural landscape of the park.
Bright Nights Holiday Train: The beloved Holiday Train returns to Stanley Park Nov 26 – Jan 2. Tickets can only be purchased online for this great family-friendly event. Matinee rides happen Dec 18-24 for the littles who can’t stay up quite as late.
Festival of Lights: VanDusen Botanical Garden is decorated with hundreds of thousands of lights for the Festival of Lights. Enjoy the twinkling lights and light show, take a stroll down Candy Cane Lane, hear the sweet sounds of carolling, and get into the spirit of the season.
Lights at Lafarge is a free winter attraction that features over 100,000 Christmas lights and festive displays around Coquitlam’s Lafarge Lake at night. In 2021 the event runs from November 27th until January 31st of 2022.
Finally, as you consider your plans for winter break, if they involve travel outside of Canada, please continue to follow federal requirements on international travel which can be seen in the daily health check. Under current rules any child or adult who is not fully vaccinated cannot come into school for 14 days after returning. This includes short day trips across the border.
