Remembrance

Remembrance

Here is a five minute video to show you some of the conflicts in which Canadian soldiers have been involved. While you are viewing it, think about the rights and freedoms that you enjoy today in Canada. This year, 2014, marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I. Sadly, conflict still occurs in several parts of the world, and today there are many living through the horrors of war. What are your thoughts on war? What would you say to soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and peace?

  1. WAR is definetely not pretty. It really makes me sad that million of people still die today because of war.It is also really sad that they have to leave their families and everything in their life just to fight people who want war.My wish is that one day war will never occur, sadly I think it will take a long time for that to happen.people should not fight people it simply says that in the bible.People were made to cooperate and make this world better GOD did not make people so we can fight against other people,so we have to learn to love and cooperate. Not to fight and take each others life.We are really lucky that we live in a country that does not have war.Though our soldiers are fighting for us everyday so we can live in peace so this Remembrance day just think about the people that fought for us and our well-being.And hopefully one day the world will be war-free and people will not fight against people and instead they will learn to love each other.

  2. I say thank you to the soldiers who defended our land.
When I think of war I become very sad thinking about fallen soldiers who had families that they loved, and family members who loved those fallen soldiers. But the good thing was they didn’t die as people who just didn’t want to go to war because they didn’t want to die, they died as good men, sacrificing themselves for their country. They died as heroes.

  3. I thank all the soldiers that fought in the war to make Canada a peaceful place to live. But war is still happening thought out the world soldiers are still dying and leaving their families, so we should all be very thankful for every single soldier that went to war for us, for our peace and happiness.

  4. I say thank you to all the soldiers who fought and died for our freedom. When I think of war, I feel wistful and sorry for those who died. The soldiers must have felt heartbroken as they left their families to go to war. And when the soldiers came back from the wars that have ended, their families must have been overjoyed or despaired as they found out who had came back and who did not. Those who did come back, might have had friends that had died in battle. But they died for not only us, but the people and the unborn children in the future as well. Almost every 10 seconds a soldier dies. Ihope that in the future there will be no war or bloodshed so the whole world will be at peace. The fallen has made us strong, proud, and free. What do you think about war? I would like to know.

  5. I would get down on my hands and knees and praise the soldiers if I could. When I think about war I feel unhappy thinking that someone out there has an incomplete heart because a war was started. Even though they died giving us freedom they died in great honor. I will never forget the soldiers who fought in World War 1.

  6. I know that the soldiers didn’t want to go out to war to fight and leave their families, but they had to go to fight for their families, their friends, and for everyone. I think it’s sad that the people had to go and might not even come back just because of other people fighting them like america. America didn’t want to drop an atomic bomb on Japan, but it was the only way to stop Japan from fighting them. It’s so sad that they have to do this. Did they choose to go out to war or were they forced to? I hope that wars will end because people are dying from these tragic fights. Will wars ever stop? I think that it’s unfair for soldiers to die because of the wars that are happening now, before and later on. Veterans are lucky to be alive. “Lest We Forget”.

  7. Its so sad that this is still happening in so many countries in the world its so sad. I think that not only on Remembrance Day but every day we honour the memory of fallen soldiers who gave up there lives for our freedom.

  8. I Se e that everyone has different thoughts about war and all of them are amazing,so lets honour them by doing something for them today,so those soldiers up in heaven will be more proud of their duties,I took part at a Rememrance Day ceremony. What did you do.

  9. I will never forget the soldiers who risked their lifes for our freedom. If it wasn’t for them, Canada wouldn’t be as free as it is today. We should always remember the brave people who defended our country because many have died for us, and the ones who didn’t, still are tramatized by the terrible war. Hopefully there will be more countries that are as free as Canada in the futer.
