ASSIGNMENT #2: MATH – CAPACITY

  • Capacity is the amount that a container can hold. Volume is how much space the liquid or gas is actually taking up in the container. In Canada, we use the metric units of litres (l) and millilitres (mL). In the USA, they use the Imperial units of cups, pints, quarts and gallons.
  • A water bottle is often 1L. Pop comes in large 2L bottles. Milk comes in very large 4L jugs.
  • What else can you find in your home that is measured in litres? Go on a hunt in your home – the kitchen and bathroom are good places to start! Tell 2 items that you found in the Comments.
