EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

I will regularly update this section with some cool extension activities you can do at home! I’m sure you will want to do some of these activities!

Birthday Party Because Why Not!?: Do you love birthday parties but your family member’s birthday isn’t for a while? That doesn’t matter! I challenge you to plan a birthday party for one of your favorite childhood stuffies or toys. Create your very own invitations, then create a planning sheet listing what entertainment will be offered at your party and what food will be served and don’t forget to bake a cake for this special day! You should also design your own party hats. Set up and decorate a table with the stuffy or toy that you are celebrating and be sure to take a picture of the event. Hope it’s lots of fun!

The Scraps Gardening Project: Grow your own herbs and vegetables at home using scraps and record the weekly growth of what you have chosen to grow! Document the changes in a Gardening Journal, including a picture that you hand draw each week. I have been growing romaine lettuce, carrot tops, and I will be trying to grow potatoes too because this house consumes a lot of potatoes! https://about.spud.com/blog-regrowing-vegetables-from-scrap/

Project Chef: Are you interested in trying out some new recipes? Check out this cool website for some inspiration (and research some of your own recipes at other sites too!) and feel free to create a recipe book of your favorite recipes, listing ingredients and directions, and be sure to include a picture or drawing of the finished product! http://projectchef.ca/recipes/

Rock Pets: Watch Camp Elphinstone Camp Leader, Hannah, make rock pets! Then make one of your own! https://youtu.be/jdO1K5Azs6I

Science Inquiry: Do you love science? How about a science inquiry project? Bill Nye has a new web page and it is organized according to different science topics. Pick a topic of interest, research it, look at Bill Nye videos and create a PowerPoint of your learning or a hand-written journal filled with points and images about what you learned! Hint Hint…we will be doing this project later this term, so if you want a head start, go for it! https://www.billnye.com/the-science-guy

Indoor Fort: Using materials you have at home, be creative and build an indoor fort! You can use this space for reading, writing or just to relax! Potato Fritters: Do you have cold leftover mashed potatoes? All you need is a cup of mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup of flour, an egg, a tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese (or any cheese really!), green onion (optional), herbs of your choice to taste (optional) and your liking of salt and pepper. Mix it all up and drop a tablespoon of batter in pan of oil. Fry it up with your parents!!!! Contact Madame if you want to see some pictures! If I have enough interest, I will post these delicious potato fritters on Teams!

Math Game: Do you love to play games? How about creating a Math game for a chapter you have completed this year? That way, you can review the concepts plus have some fun! Bonus if you can figure out how to make it virtual!

Pourquoi le Français? Mme Panagiotou found a great french inquiry project for everyone! If you’re interested in receiving the PDF, let her know and she will forward to you! The file is too large to upload on the blog.
