Our Names

The most important word for any child is his/her own name.  For most children, it is the first word that they learn to read and write.

The children have been doing activities that draw their attention to the letters and sounds in their own names, including learning to print their names starting with a capital letter followed by lower-case ones. Practicing their names helps them to notice the differences among the letters of the alphabet; circles, straight lines, crossing lines.  It also helps them to learn the sounds in their names and the names of their friends.

Why fit in, when you were born to stand out! Dr.Seuss

Introducing Division 9.

They are a special bunch –  receptive, enthusiastic and kind.

Together we will continue to praise their efforts, as well as their accomplishments.

Love, Ms. Gourlay

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go. – Dr.Seuss

You did it. It’s the last day of kindergarten.

I’m so proud of you.  You’ve learned so much this year!

And although we didn’t couldn’t have a big celebration, we have lots of wonderful memories.

So ask your grown-up to take you out for ice cream.  You deserve it!

Lots of love,

Ms. Gourlay
