Pollination

Flying insects are pests.  Right?  Division 10 learned that flying insects, like honeybees and butterflies, love flowers! Why?  Flowers are filled with a sweet juice called nectar.  When the insects visit flowers, they get covered in a sticky dust called pollen.  As they fly to other flowers, some pollen drops off.  The causes new flowers to grow.  Some flowers turn into the fruits and vegetables that we eat.  Wow!  Flying insects are very helpful.  Here we are doing an experiment to show how pollination works.[metaslider id=2640]

Did you know that one honeybee can pollinate 10,000 flowers!
