Updates – Halloween

Happy Friday Friends!

I have some updates:

There was an error in our library information and we actually get library every week on Wednesday! YAY!

It is nearing the end of October which means Halloween! These are Maywood’s rules about Halloween this year, and during the pandemic:

“Costumes should not portray any negative stereotypes or hurt someone’s feelings. Costumes should not be too scary and should not have weapons! Masks will only be worn during specific times in class. Your child must be able to work and play in their costume as they will be wearing it all day. Unfortunately, there will be no treats from home due to Covid-19.”  Thanks for you understanding!

And lastly, I just wanted to remind everyone that our school and our classroom is nut free! Please remember not to pack any kind of nuts in student’s lunches due to nut allergies in the school. Thank you so much in advance!

See you all on Monday!

Kindly,

Ms. Daychief

Hi All,

Listed below is some important information for our class this week. Please read!

  • Wednesday is our library day (we have library every two weeks starting this week)
  • Friday October 16 is picture day

As well as a spelling practice board full of activities for home. Your child can choose some of the activities to do at home with our no excuse words and eventually spelling words.

Choose a spelling activity to do at home from this activity board!

Also, I am adding many new parents to my subscriber’s list so that you can be notified when I post something new to our classroom blog. Please let me know (via email) if you got the notification and/or if you would like me to add a second family member (or if you would like to be removed!).

Kindly,

Ms. Daychief

Orange Shirt Day

HI Everyone!

Wednesday September 30th was Orange Shirt Day! We learned about the history of Orange Shirt Day. We listened to Phyllis Webstad’s story about being a residential school survivor. We read books about residential schools such as When We Were Alone by David Robertson and Amik Loves School by Katherena Vermette. We had deep meaningful conversations.

After we did a project where we wrote kind words to the residential school survivors and brainstormed how school should make us feel (loved, safe, happy, etc.). Here is our bulletin board with our work. We talked about how Every Child Matters and we all belong in our safe and caring classroom.
