Hello Superstars! 🌟
Wow, what an exciting week we’ve had! Whether it was solving algebra equations or chatting about the different levels of education in Canada, your energy and curiosity were off the charts! Maybe it’s the sunshine giving you all that extra spark ☀️—whatever it is, keep it up because it’s making our classroom a fantastic place to learn and grow!
🧠 A Special Visitor – Kiara!
This week, we had a lovely visit from Kiara, who shared all about her journey as a young adult in the education system. She told us she’s almost finished university 🎓 and is working part-time, all while dreaming of becoming a teacher one day! It was so cool hearing your thoughtful questions and seeing how interested you were in her story.
🎯 Education & Career Chats
Following Kiara’s visit, we dove into some exciting conversations about education pathways in Canada. You explored everything from elementary school to university and beyond! Then we connected that learning to careers — and discovered what education is needed for different jobs. You even got to pick your favorites! 💼
Now, it’s time to take it a step further… Over the next few weeks, you’ll be choosing one career that truly interests you and doing some research on it. I can’t wait to see what you choose! Your small group discussions this week were so fun to listen to — so many great ideas and lively chats. 🗣️💡
📖 Novel Study NewsIn our novel study, we met so many new characters this week! Melody’s “special” class is full of unique personalities, and we got to hear her thoughts about each of them. We also met Mrs. V, a kind and helpful neighbor who plays a big role in helping Melody communicate. What an amazing character! ❤️
🕵️♀️ Word Detectives on the Case!
We also started a vocabulary book that helps us dive deeper into the new words we find in each chapter. You’ve all been amazing word detectives—solving meanings, breaking down tricky words, and building your vocabulary! 🔍📘
➕ Awesome Algebra Adventures
Algebra quiz? ✔️ DONE and DONE! You all rocked it! From solving for missing numbers to using pictures and stories to find answers — you’ve shown incredible progress. I’m so proud of how hard you’ve been working on this. 🎉✏️ On Thursday you received Mrs. Davis’ feedback on your petting zoo project. Each zoo was unique and followed the outlined criteria very well. We’re going to keep these at school until Student Led Conferences on May 6th. That way parents can take a browse through those projects too!
Our final task connected to this project was a quiz! The petting zoo project started out as a math project focusing on area and perimeter… which is what the quiz tested. Most of you showed solid understanding of these concepts and did very well on the assessment check in! Yay!!
Our Africa research is well underway! We are so impressed with how you have been using your time at home to discover more about the topics you chose to research.
Over the weekend, you have the option to continue researching, but you can take a break too. Next week Mrs. Davis is covering Mrs. Gil’s days so we will have a few more opportunities to complete our research then.
💬 Don’t Forget!
Keep those creative ideas flowing as you narrow down your career choices. You’ll have time to research, explore, and maybe even be inspired by people around you (just like Kiara!).
Your Blog Response for this LONG WEEKEND is…..
What levels of education or certification do the people in your household have? Ask them and tell us what you found out.
Enjoy your long weekend everyone! Happy Easter!
Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Gil
