What a fantastic week we had together! Mrs. Davis stepped in on Tuesday and Wednesday as Mrs. Gil was away. As we near the end of this school year, time is flying by SO FAST, that having the gift of EXTRA time is always welcome! We sure took advantage of those bonus days as we really dove into the projects we have on the go! Thanks Division 7 for being so focused and productive!
We started our week with some EARTH DAY activities. Many of you dressed in your earth tones ( blue, brown, green) in support of our school spirit day.
We completed a “fill in the blank” passage describing Earth Day and then we worked on an individual poster to put up on our growth board. Those look great! We also spent a couple of days cleaning up our school yard and community park by picking up litter. Thanks Division 7!!
We did a LOT of work on our projects this week. We had the computers several times: twice to work on our French “C’est Moi” projects and twice to work on our African country research! Many of you are really enjoying creating a power point slide show about yourself– in French!
Those of you who chose to pivot and create a “C’est Moi booklet instead also are using the computers for translation and collecting clipart images to include in your book.
Our African country research is almost complete. If you are still looking up information, you will need to try to do some of that at home as well– we will not be as fortunate to have the computers as often next week.
Besides, we need to start moving on to the next phase: comparing notes and writing what we learned into paragraphs. Some of you are already on that step! Well done!
In Math, we received our area and perimeter quiz back — and all of you have shown that you understand those concepts. Yay! We followed that up with a “what do you know about money and time” check in. Counting money amounts seems to be quite solid… but reading an analog clock is a bit challenging for some of us.
Time and Money… there’s more to it than just reading a clock or counting money… we’ll keep exploring over the next several weeks.
BATTER UP! California Kick has taken our class by STORM!! You are so excited about this game and this week we got several chances to play it! We have split into 2 very fair teams and the games have been so fun! So far we are just enjoying the game and haven’t kept score. We did add a rule about “over-throws”– that you can only advance one base on an overthrow.
It’s been great to see several home-runs and how you encourage each other when it’s time to kick or when you are out-field. We may be ready to challenge another class soon! What do you think?
Your Blog Response question is this:
How much money is:
A) 2 toonies, 3 loonies, 4 quarters, a dime, and 2 nickles?
B) How else can you make that amount of money using the LEAST amount of cash?
Speaking of money… please bring a $1.00 to school next week to help pay for the Social Studies presentation tri-fold poster. Thank you!
Have a wonderful LONG weekend Division 7! See you on Tuesday!
