What an incredible week we’ve had together! From walking and riding to school,  to welcoming our families into our classroom, we’ve been busy building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community. Let’s take a look back at all the exciting things we’ve accomplished:

This week, students participated in a fun PAC-led initiative promoting active transportation—like walking, biking, or scootering—to and from school. Classes competed for a pizza party, awarded to the primary and intermediate classes with the highest rate of active travel. HUB Cycle also gave stickers to classes with the most bike rides. To help reduce traffic, improve student health, and cut emissions, families were encouraged to use options like carpooling, transit, or the “drive-to-five” method if full active travel wasn’t possible. Thanks for supporting active travel this week! Keep up the great work!

We’re gearing up for the Jump Rope for Heart event next Friday! This initiative promotes heart health by encouraging physical activity and raising funds for life-research. It’s a fun way to stay active while supporting a meaningful cause. Let’s keep practicing our skipping skills and continue fundraising to make a big impact!

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our parent community into our classroom to showcase the amazing work we’ve been doing. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our learning journey and celebrate our achievements together. We spent several days collecting our work samples, paying special attention to the words, ‘Pride, Perseverance, Creativity, and Improvement’. With those words in mind, we prepared work to share with our families to show them our progress. When it was all over, we had new goals set for the last two months of school. We hope you all use your ‘SMARTS’ and plan for success. We know you can do it! Thank you to all the parents who joined us and supported our efforts!

We continued our exploration of money ( counting, comparing, adding, subtracting) this week.  Each of you were given an envelop of Canadian coins ( play money).  Once you counted the money in your envelop, you visited several of your classmates to calculate what the total of your combined cash was, and what the difference was in your money amounts. You also had a lot of fun exploring the London Drugs catalogue on a “scavenger hunt” to find items that fit within different price ranges.

Our African country “Trip Around the World” projects are really beginning to take shape.  All nine country groups have completed their research and are typing out the information into paragraphs.  You have also been collecting images to support what you were researching.  By next Thursday, the goal is for ALL groups to have the paragraphs typed, images collected and printed, so that you can begin planning out your presentation board.  This week each group also met with Mrs. Davis to create the “passport stamp” representing the country you researched.  Those will be fun for visitors to collect  and add to the pages of their passport when we go on the tour of all the other continents.

We had gymnastics class four times this week, and it was a blast! From balancing on beams to flipping on mats, we’ve been building strength, coordination, and confidence. Keep practicing those moves—you never know when you’ll be the next gymnastics star!
