Can you believe that our school year is OVER??? It was a fun one that is for sure! Thank you Division 6 for making this year so great! We had a wonderful time with you all! We hope you also had a great time this year and that you will look back on your time in Division 6 fondly.
Thanks parents for all your support this year! We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know your kids and YOU this year. 
The home/school partnership is HUGE and we really appreciate all you did at home to help make our year as successful as it was.
We also wanted to express our sincerest gratitude for all the gifts you showered us with! Truly, your generosity and kindness is overwhelming! Division 6… your cards and kind words to us warmed our hearts! 
We enjoyed teaching you all — it’s a teacher’s dream to have a class that engages, is excited to learn, has fun, and works as hard as you did. Thank you, Division 6, for being that “dream class” for us this year.
It’s now time for a much needed and well deserved break! We wish you all a wonderful summer. If you are heading away, we wish you safe travels and many fun adventures. If you are staying closer to home, we hope that you are able to explore the beautiful area in which we live! 
We really do have it all here! Whatever you are doing, may you be creating some great memories with your family and friends. We’re excited to hear about what you did when we see each other again in September.

As the year comes to a close, we are finally getting the sunny days we have been hoping for! We enjoyed a great week with lots of fun activities made better by the warm and sunny days. Extra recesses and playground time have been a nice addition to our usually very busy days.
Poetry Projects, which were due on Thursday. You were given lots of class time to work on the project throughout the week and they turned out amazing! Such creativity in writing and also, your artistic additions added an extra layer to an already beautiful product.
It was so nice to see you helping your buddy fill out a memory page about themselves, but also, YOU! They are sure to remember their time spent with you this year for many years to come. Make sure you remember to always say hi to them when you see them in the school or on the playground next year as well. They will love that.
This book had us feeling all kinds of emotions. It was a roller-coaster! There were funny parts, exciting parts, sad parts and even some suspense. The author did a wonderful job sharing the refugee experience with us by introducing us to characters who were learning about refugees with us. 
It felt like we were one of the kids trying to help Ahmet along with Alexa and her friends. The best part was finding out that proceeds from the purchase of our classroom novels will go to help refugees with food, water and clothing as they escape to find their new lives.
It was a solid game ( even with our smaller class size) and we played hard and well. They won, but that didn’t dampen our enthusiasm or our great sportsmanship!
Our week ended with a fun filled day at Confederation Park! It was great to just to be able to hang out, chat, play, get wet, relax and enjoy each others’ company on such a beautiful day. It was HOT– which was great as it was also the official start to Summer!
Also, Wednesday afternoon we will be cleaning up our classroom, taking home all of our supplies and work, and watching a movie as a class. Please feel free to bring yourself some extra snacks or a treat to enjoy during the movie!
Thursday will be our last day of school and it will only be 1 HOUR! In that hour we will celebrate our year end by having the MEGA MARKET MEGA SALE! Hopefully you have saved up some mega bucks because there will be some new and exciting items for purchase.
Mrs. Rakic, Mr. Serafini, and Mrs. Basso. It was a wonderful celebration and the students did a wonderful job with their good-bye messages and well wishes. We were especially proud of your contribution. Your cup song rhythm helped keep the whole school singing in time. Well done! I know the teachers who are leaving us were very moved by the performance.
had only 1/2 hour to try to escape the Egyptian Tomb created by Mr. Jung’s grade 6/7 class. You were all so very close to escaping but, unfortunately, none of your groups succeeded. It was wonderful to hear you all come back and discuss your strategies. You understood how important it was to work together as a large group and, how important it is to use each others skills and talents to solve all the different clues.
On Wednesday, we went on our second of four swimming trips. As usual, you were able to safely walk to and from the pool. You listened well to the adult supervisors and had a wonderful time playing together. It is so great to see you all celebrating the end of the year together in this way.
We discussed how the title of a chapter and the first few paragraphs really set the tone and help us get an idea about what might be important in the chapter. 
Our poetry collection is in its final stages of completion! You have been working hard to edit, revise, and publish your poems. The final step is to illustrate each page with images that match your poems. 
The absolute deadline for this project is Thursday, June 20th. We’ll have Monday morning ( Mrs. Davis is here on Monday) as well as Thursday to finish up. 
The Grade 5’s explored symmetry and congruency this week. We were able to look and measure shapes to find congruency while we were challenged to find lines of symmetry in a variety of shapes. At the end, we tested our skills at creating symmetry by completing some mirror images of Indigenous Designs.
In teams of 3, we challenged each other to a “mini-golf” math challenge. Some of you were able to complete the full 9 rounds. Just like in a real game of golf ( the sport) the object is to have the lowest score. Our Winner based on the completed games so far is ANNA with a final score of only 9 points!! Well done Anna!
Our week wrapped up with SPORTS DAY on Friday! The Grade 7’s did a wonderful job preparing all the fun activity stations for us to travel through! “Balloon Keep Up”, “Water Wars”, “Rollback Racers” and an “Obstacle Course” were only some of the great stations we experienced today! 
It was fun to compete against each other in our house teams, but ultimately, the victory went to TEAM BLUE! Woohoo! Congrats to all the winners!
A special mention to all Dad’s, stepdads, grand-dads, great grand-dads… We wish you a wonderful Father’s Day this weekend! We hope you are spoiled and honoured for the very important role you play in the lives of your kids and any other children that look up to you!
The end is near, friends! We have made it to the last month and let the fun times roll! There is so much we are doing in class to finish everything before the school year comes to a close but there are also so many events happening this month as well. Never a dull moment here in Division 6!
Along with our desk switch, a new job has been added to our job board: Peer Mediation! We started the school year as Brentwood’s first peer mediator crew and now we’re ending the year in the same role. The only difference this time is that we get to choose if we want to take this on. Many of you have stepped up again and our primary students are well supervised over the lunch time break. Thanks Division 6!
format of your choosing, that had both a “message” and a “purpose”. This project is meant to demonstrate to us that you have an understanding of WHY we want you to be media literate. Information and media literacy teaches you how to make informed judgments about information and media and how to use it.
Also, we want you all to become skillful creators and producers of information and media messages. We hope you had fun with this project!
We learned how to use their physical properties to identify and compare them all. There is a lot of vocabulary to know which is the most challenging part of this unit, wouldn’t you agree?
We worked on some inferencing and predicting this week as well. We used our background knowledge of the book to make some mid-way predictions. We also looked back at our pre-reading predictions and see how they compared to what actually happened. Finally, we looked at how body language can give a lot of clues about how someone is feeling. Next week, the kids will be arriving at Buckingham Palace…… I wonder if they will meet the Queen?
Our poetry collection is on it’s editing and revising stage. With a partner, we are going over the draft selections that we want to publish from each set of poems. So far we have completed our Haiku, ABC, and Diamante poems. Our Cinquain, and Acrostics need to be edited by next Thursday. 
This is homework… make sure you go over your poems really well and make any changes you feel are needed. THEN ( and this is optional but highly recommended) ask a parent or older sibling to give your poems a look over too. We’re almost at the end of this project and they are looking REALLY great already!
Friday was a super fun day! We had our first swimming session at Eileen Daily pool and did we ever have fun! It could not have been a better day for the walk there and back either! Thank you to Stanko’s mom for walking to and from the pool with us ! 
Three more sessions to go Division 6! Next session is on Wednesday, June 12th.
