Good morning Division 7,
Hope your rock searching has been going well! It is already Wednesday, I had to remind myself many times this morning. Wednesdays are when I “go to school” which means I need to make sure I finish my homework, too. SFU as decided to keep all classes online — even throughout the summer and maybe in the Fall. I really miss in person class — both at SFU and Suncrest.
We only have the Learning Opportunities to discuss today:

a.) Morning Journal *
As I was driving to the beach yesterday evening (photo above), I noticed that there were restaurants with patios open — with real-life people in it! I have become so adjusted to “pandemic-normal” that I had to look twice to believe it — it felt very dream-like. As a lot of services are re-opening, I have been reflecting on how I want my life to look like post-pandemic. There are some things I really appreciate during this quarantine time and some things I miss from pre-COVID-19.
Morning Journal Question:
Reflect on how you would like your life to look like post-quarantine:
What are you doing now that you appreciate and would like to continue to do post-quarantine?
What do you miss and hope to continue from your “pre-COVID-19” life?
What I currently appreciate and would like to continue to post-quarantine:
- Slower pace and calmness
- Quality time outdoors
- Quality time with my parents and Luna (dog) since I have been staying with them during this time
- Quality time outdoors (and at a distance) with friends
- Having more energy!! Working from home means less moving around, which means there is more energy for evening activities
- Long runs in the forest after school hours
Things I miss from pre-COVID-19:
- School!!! I miss our class very much — seeing your smiling faces everyday is the biggest part of pre-COVID-19 life I miss the most! 🙁 :'(
- Camping
- Friends
b.) Literacy*
Please continue your “Everybody Needs a Rock” assignment.

c.) Math

If you would like support/guidance on a math program, please contact me.
Extension Activities (optional)
d.) Genius Hour (optional)
Continue your Genius Hour project. This is an ongoing project. If you have completed it or are just starting, here is the planning sheet to start a new inquiry:Genius Hour Planning Sheet
e.) “Giving Back” Painting
There has been a suggestion for painting supportive messages for members passing by in the community or for frontline workers. In our class, there has been mention (and photos sent) of these wonderful messages. Even though we are almost 2 months into social distancing and conditions are starting to improve, it is always nice to pass by a new, kind message.
As suggested by you in class, this week’s art project is a supportive painting project. This may include painting a kind rock (“Giving Back” rock — see more under “Literacy), a poster/paper, or any other way you wish to show your support and kindness.
f.) Outdoor Classroom Day
Thursday May 21st is Outdoor Classroom Day. This acknowledges the land as teacher and the power of play and curiosity.
Please refer to activities you can try on your own or with your family in this document: Outdoor Classroom Day Activities
Have a good day and see you at 11 am,
Ms. Daneshwand

I have had a good COVID 19 so far with my moms side of the family. But I miss the class. It was fun with my grandma but I want to spend time with my class. I would like to see the class together at school in person again. I wish COVID 19 was over already because I wanna go play with my friends for a while.
I miss that I can not see my friends that often anymore. I also miss that I can not go out either. I have been playing with my family and my dogs🐶🐕. It has been a good time since all this had happened.😊
1. What I would want to do after quarantine.
After quarantine I would want to still have time to play Fortnite with my dad and spend time with my family and pets. I would still keep the house clean from germs.
2. I would like to continue to play with Pumpkin as much as I am now. I would like to hang out with Baby when she sleeps.
3. I miss being with my friends and doing our work with you. I miss hugging you on Fridays and you reading books to us. I miss doing our field trips like when we saw brown bears together.
