Wednesday

Posted on May 13, 2020May 13, 2020

Good morning class,

Happy Wednesday! Thank you to those who joined Teams to ask Ms. Raymond some questions about their buddies. Thank you for joining our chat and answering our questions, Ms. Raymond 🙂

Someone recently said something that I liked. They said that, even while we are staying at home and socially isolating, there is comfort in knowing there is so much movement and change happening in nature during spring.

Here is a video that I think you may all appreciate:

Peek-a-boo! These cute creatures get up close to this hidden camera in Quebec's forests.

To discuss:

  1. Sharing Circle – tomorrow
  2. Learning Opportunities

1. Sharing Circle

Please meet on Teams tomorrow at 11 am for Sharing Circle. I encourage you all to share something.

There will be no Office Hours but feel free to reach out to me in our “Questions” channel if you have any questions/concerns.

2. Learning Opportunities

To-do:
* : hand-in
(extension): optional

a.) Morning Journal*
b.) Literacy – Reading Assignment *
c.) Letter to Buddies *
d.) Math

Extensions:
e.) Genius Hour (optional)
f.) Makers – Instruments (optional)

Priorities

a.) Morning Journal *

I don’t now about you but I have been seeing a tremendous amount of kindness during this COVID-19 pandemic.
What is something kind you have done/been doing during the pandemic? Remember, no act of kindness is too small!

For example, I have been checking in with my friends regularly to ensure they know that even while there may be a sense of physical loneliness, they are certainly not alone in spirit!

I have also been trying to be sure to smile/make eye-contact with more strangers as I go for my daily walk/run. You never know how someone may be feeling and some human acknowledgment may go a long way. (and it makes me feel more connected to others, too).

b.) Literacy – Reading *

Task Instructions: (Step by Step)
Download the worksheet: Reading Assignment

Read a book of your choice for at least 30 minutes each day.
Reflect on what you are reading. Record your thoughts on your reading by answering the following questions:

• What do you like about what you are reading?
• What connections are you making to the text?
• What questions do you have about the text?
• What do you think the writer would like you to think about?

You may record your thoughts in writing (on paper or in a document) or a recorded voice/video note.

Please submit this to me by Friday May 15th. This is a required assignment. Please let me know if you need more time.

c.) Letter to your Little Buddy *

Please send a picture of your note and art to me by Friday May 15th so we can send them to our buddies for next week. They will also be writing you letters this week 🙂 Don’t forgot to include a drawing or art!

d.) Math

Please continue your math program.
Khan Academy, IXL, worksheets, etc.

If you would like support/guidance on a math program, please contact me.

Extension Activities (optional)

e.) Makers – instruments (optional)

This week, I would like you to work on a homemade instruments. They can come in all different sizes and types — from wood drums to coffee can shakers, to wind chimes to xylophones. Find objects and sounds around your home to experiment with different ways to make noise. Record the different types of sounds you can create.

Document: Makers – instrument

f.) Genius Hour (optional)

Continue your Genius Hour project.  This is an ongoing project. If you have completed it or are just starting, here is the planning sheet to start a new inquiry: Genius Hour Planning Sheet

Have a good day,

Ms. Daneshwand

I have been making some Lego for my cousins Karsten, AJ, Jade. Well not all of them. Only the first two cousins because Jade is only 2 1/2 , AJ is 4 and Karsten is 7 so Jade is too young to play with Lego yet. I also get to face time my nana or she will come to our house sometimes to give us things. We also give her air hugs when she leaves.

I gave presents 🎁 to my grandparents to show them that they are really important to me. I called friends to tell them how much I missed them.

Me and my mom went to Canadian tire to get seeds and plants. We went and planted them in our back yard, the package said they would take 8-10 days to sprout.🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱-🌳🌳🌳🌳

Me and my sisters made pictures for the seiners because it was a small project that ms Silva said we could do. When we are done drawing the art ms Silva would go pick them up at the school. I wrote kindness on my paper and I also drawn a rainbow 🌈.
