We will continue practicing our questioning and inferring skills by observing the picture below. What questions do you have? (I wonder…)
What is going on in this picture? (I think… or Maybe…)
What do you see that makes you say that? (I think…. because…)
What more can you find?

Last week’s photo explained:

The Falcon Hospital waiting room has perches for birds and for humans.

Last week’s photo explained:

Last week’s image comes from the Dec. 19, 2019 article “Welcome to the Falcon Hospital. Please Take a Number.” The story is about a state-of-the-art falcon hospital in Doha, Qatar, which offers scans, surgeries and a link to a centuries-old pastime: falconry.

b.) Literacy – Mother’s Day

(Moms – please try your best to avoid viewing this document! 😀)
You may work at your own pace or follow my suggestions.

I suggest working on the publishing stage today.

I highly suggest that you hand print your poem to your poem. Create a background and fine-line (or use thing marker) if it is available to you.

Please view this file: MOMS DONT LOOK – Mothers Day Template

If the file above does not open, try this file: PDF MOMS DONT LOOK – Mothers Day Template

c.) Math

Please continue your math program.
Khan Academy, IXL, worksheets, etc.

If you would like support/guidance on a math program, please contact me.

d.) Reading

Read for at least 20 mins.
If you would like to activate your thinking even more while you read, I suggest following one of these roles:

  • Connector: What does this part of the book remind you of? It can be connection to yourself, others, the world, or other text (books, movies, plays, stories, song, etc).
  • Sketch Artist: Visualize — draw what you read using clues from the reading.
  • Vocabulary Seeker: What words are interesting? What words are new to you? Find them in the dictionary.

Additionally, consider listening to an audiobook as well.

Try Audible (free online) or Libby (access local public library audiobooks). I am currently using and loving Libby!

Extension Activities (optional)

e.) Genius Hour (optional)

Continue your Genius Hour project from last week. If you have completed it or are just starting, here is the planning sheet to start a new inquiry:Genius Hour Planning Sheet

Follow these steps:
Brainstorm – what topics interest you? Write down topics that interest you (e.g. birds, palm trees, global warming, Jupiter, etc…). Select one to focus on this week.

Question – What deep questions do you wish to explore on your topic? (e.g. how do birds fly?)

Research – How are you going to find answers to your questions? With limited variety of resources, it will likely be online or an interview with an “expert” on the topic (perhaps family/friends).

Present – How are you going to share your knowledge? Please come up with a a way to briefly present your project. This may be through a speech, slideshow, poster, poem, comic, video, song, etc.

Share – Practice your presentation and share — either to me, family/friends, to the class during Sharing Circle.

Please follow the following planning sheet to guide you through your planning and  research.

f.) Makers – Boat (optional)

Please refer to the following document: Makers – Boat

This will also be available on Microsoft Teams.

Please take a picture with a description and send it to me or share it during sharing circle.

Have a good Tuesday,

Ms. Daneshwand

I think the man is really hurt and I think his leg is hurt from a car accident. I wonder why people are looking at him but not helping him ? I wonder if people are afraid to help him.

I wonder how they got into the stadium?
I wonder why the man is holding the stick?
I wonder why the people are watching the man?
I think 🤔 the man tripped because he’s laying on the ground.
I think 💭 they are in a stadium because there are stadium seats in the background.

I wonder why the man is lying on the ground. Maybe he got hurt badly. I wonder why the people around not helping. Maybe they just don’t want to. I think it is bad because they are all backing up. Thank you.

I wonder why everyone was crowded around him.
I wonder why that man was holding a stick.
I think 🤔the people are playing a sport that involves a stick and then that man got hurt.

Why are there people crowded around the man on the floor?

    1. I wonder if he is dying
    2. Maybe he is hurt
    3. I wonder what are in their hands
    4. I wonder why people are watching the man
    5. I wonder why people are in a line in the background
    6. I wonder if he needs help
    7. Maybe there is a cop in the background
    8. Maybe he is in trouble and trying to crawl away

    1. I think he is in trouble and trying to get away from the cops. People are in a line for something in the background. There is something in their hands. He might be hurt to. He might be dying. I think there is a cop in the background because maybe the man might be in big trouble
