May 26th – 5th round of activities (Gr. 3/4/5)

1. Imagine you are in a particular place where you would hear lots of particular sounds (e.g. in the city; in a forest with sounds of birds and leaves rusting). Recreate the sounds that you might hear using your recorder and objects that you have at home. Write down the sounds that you thought of with a description of how to play it on recorder and which objects at home you would use. If possible send a recording of yourself making the sounds, and say what each sound is supposed to be, or send a write-up of the sounds you were thinking of and how you’d recreate the sounds with instruments/objects.
2. Choose one of the following 3 songs and learn to play it on the recorder based on your music reading skills. You may want to find the song on Youtube and listen to it so that you know what the tune should sound like:

• Auld Lang Syne
• Morning Has Broken
• Aura Lee

3. Pick a song from the following playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpXA1IqBgeZROfhsGkUE2HrFGN7bKqgpF. Play along with your chosen song in an improvised fashion with two or three notes on your recorder, or with objects in your home that can make drum sounds. Submit a video of you playing along to your chosen song.
4. Compose a short melody using the following online tool (make sure to select your grade level). Play your composition on your recorder, or another melodic instrument such as piano. 5. Complete any previously posted activities that you have not yet done.

How to submit work

Please submit work through one of the following three methods:

1. Comment on any of the blog posts (if comments are to show on the blog site I have to ‘approve’ them, so I can just not approve your comment and view the work at my end).
2. Email it to me at adrian.clift@burnabyschools.ca
3. For large file submissions add them to Google Drive and invite Mr. Clift through the ‘share’ option.
4. Also for large file submissions, Mr. Clift can add you to a Microsoft Team where you can upload the file in the “Assignments” tab.
