Div. 13 loved visiting the Gibson Art Museum last week! We looked and listened to various pieces of art, instruments, and scores connected to Martin Bartlett. Then we responded using a variety of mediums – first using charcoal to draw what we heard, then sharpie and tracing paper to choose special parts of our collaborative art. From there, we chose one symbol and coloured it, then printed in on the collaborative art, and finally created and shared a dance move to represent it. We loved creating our own art and sharing it with our classmates!

Another highlight from our week was going on our very first bird walk! We did an amazing job of listening closely to our surroundings so we could see and hear many birds around us! We found a hummingbird, a robin, and many chickadees!

We finished our letter to our pen pal class in Mexico, and read their special message to us!

We have been working on writing “I am From” poems and have enjoyed conferencing with our teachers to share about ourselves.

In math, we have been finishing up our data and graphing unit! We loved creating all sorts of graphs – pictographs, bar graphs, circle graphs, and tallies inspired by our smarties! We also learned some new math games and practiced using logic to solve word problems! Next week will be another week of problem solving and games before we start our next math unit – number sense!

We are looking forward to our last week with Ms. Carley before she goes on maternity leave!
